Well I applied it before watching it, so what I watched was perfect.

Problems that I heard like credits not rolling after end scene, and movie beginning in the middle of the movie then after that chapter it goes to the beginning and scene selection and menu weirdness are all fixed with this patch.

Posted by HELLiON on 08-09-2004 05:34 AM:

just wondering if this fix is absolutely necissary because i already burned the dvdr.....

Posted by philez on 08-09-2004 01:23 PM:

I already burned pre-fix release and watched it, I didn't notice anything wrong with the subs, Movie played fine for me, already deleted the img.

Is this absolutely necessary?

Posted by PMAtreides on 08-09-2004 01:45 PM:

Post no problems here...

and I burned it BEFORE the fix...... tested on a pioneer and apex with no problems with menu, navigation, subs or credits on either machine ...

I"m not applying the fix my machines has zero prob....not sure what machines the independent group were testing on, as they seem to have a lot of issues I don't see in my pioneer or apex...

Posted by omega59 on 08-09-2004 02:21 PM:

i had no problems playing this movie.

Posted by redfive19 on 08-09-2004 03:58 PM:

this is the 2nd patch iND has stolen.

Posted by se7ensoftware on 08-09-2004 06:09 PM:

How can iND steal the patch when iND isn't a group, it's a tag to note that they aren't affil'd with any group.

I tested this on some standalones that were having problems and it did indeed patch the release.

Posted by duomo on 08-09-2004 06:29 PM:

Unfourtunately, I threw out my first burn of The Passion before testing it on my player. Anyway, with the patch applied, I didn't notice any sub or navigation problems. The credits however, are still a little wonky (especially for the first few seconds).

Post also...

...tested on a Samsung *without* patch ... plays fine. So, not sure what players were having problems, probably a BAD burn by the person who released the patch. So far, tested on Pioneer, Apex & Samsung with no issues (without the patch).

Posted by Carlitosbaby on 08-09-2004 09:02 PM:

Ive watched it without this so called patch and everything works fine. so whoever did this get a decent dvd player or burner maybe thats yopur problem cause I havent found one person yet that had problems

The subtitle problem has nothing to do with the dvd player or burner. Check out my sig, it has the pre and post patch versions of the subtitles.

Yours has the weird blocky white version, as opposed to the traditional yellow ones standard with most DVDs.

Anyone who hasn't burned the movie should definitely apply the patch for the best experience.

DVDR isnt 100% perfect yet, First time and ONLY time ive ever had a dvd skip (acts like bitrate is to high second to last chapter from the end) annoying, but plays fine in my pc so i know its not a bad burn, either my players going out and its just not used to the high bitrate that was used, or its barely over scene standards ( i can not say it is, because i dont have the tools to check the bitrate ) and im not screaming nuke, just wanna know if anyone else has had the same problem? (ive burnt it twice)

yellow subs aren't perfect tho. on certain backdrops they'd be a nightmare to read. with a border, you're not gonna get that problem....

I dunno wtf is all being said here, guess a jpg is in order.. but yeah basically these yellow subs have a small black border as well for when they go into the frame, looks a hell of a lot better to me. Also, I've got a Pioneer DV-341 and it couldn’t get passed the language menu selection without the patch so I am most grateful for it.

I am having problems with the Replica version if that's what you guys are talking about. It seems to be skipping back a chapter during the movie. And at the end of the movie, when the credits show, there seems to be some kind of lag or skipping. It's kind of wierd.

And I tested on a Philips dvd player.

I notice that the some of the subs seem to be missing when certain romans speak. I agree with you, that all the subs are not there in the movie.

There is certainly something wrong with this release.

Actually, I've seen this come from a bad burn, or just two different brands of DVD Burners .... same movie (not this one) does exactly what you say towards "end of movie" ...burned with Pioneer. Same image, burned with Sony, plays fine on the same standalone dvd player , "end of movie", and SAME MEDIA. Once I saw this happen more than a few times, I concluded that the writing/burning process is very different from the Sony vs. Pioneer burners (have BOTH). I've burned several images on both ... with same media, but sometimes, not always, the Pioneer writing/burning causes problems at the end of the disc, and not sure why.

Anyone know if this is true? Some movies not everything is translated, I'd expect the same here.... like the first beating scene the guards all talk to each other a lot with no subs. I personally don't care what they said. I didn't see the movie in theatres so I can' compare.

Posted by Fire_Sokar on 08-11-2004 06:48 PM:

Burnt it 3 times now 2 on my liteon and 1 time on an hp same problem conclusion = not bad burn all 3 discs play fine in pc but both my apex ad-1000 and ad-2600 = messed

my apex ad1500 , samsung c621 and pioneer dv-606D play it fine (burned 3 of them so far, on two different media types - tdk and riteks)...

btw, burned on two different burners, pioneers A03 and 104 ........

however, i have noticed (as I said before) that the pioneer A06 (which I sold) does not burn the same as my sony dru-500a...... a06 burns do exactly what you say (on several movies) burned with the same media as the sony, and on same "image" file ....
