Movie

Very watchable.... ok video... grainy but watchable. The sound is great. Maybe direct. Good movie.

Video is pixelated and blurry. Somewhat overcropped on the sides, but not that bad. Audio seems to go out of sync at some points but quickly goes back in sync. Movie was decent. Better than most out right now.

Video: 6

Audio: 7

Movie: 8

Sry, but why is it not needed? This seems a fine release to me?

Well where do we begin? Lets see a 1 being the worst apparently not watchable at all and a 10 being PERFECT uhh DVD quality. What is so damn hard about rating a movie? Just because it's watchable and i seen a lot of shity quality ,watchable movies, you dont rate it a 7.

Posted by KrackZaa on 04-04-2006 04:17 PM:

to the poster above me,

why rate a dvd rip in the same category as a cam? we all know that a dvd is going to be better quality then a cam, so it makes sense to rate a cam vs a cam, and a ts vs a ts, and a scr vs a scr, and a dvdscr vs a dvdscr, a tc vs a tc, and a dvdrip vs dvdrip. a 10 for a telesync means that it is the best of the best, like centropy used to be. if a dvdrip is perfect, then it gets a 10; if it has motion issues, or is not in sync, or not correct bitrate, then it is not worth a 10, it would be worth a 10 if it was a perfect job by the group (and even then sometimes they only get 9/9 because the source may not have been mastered correctly). ive said this a lot before, and I know a lot of other people have as well, I just do not understand the point of rating every kind of release on 1 scale, but then again those that do that just really dont care about the scene and probably get their releases off bt or emule...

I have to agree with some of what st3v13b is saying some people are making a mockery of the voting system and just voting low for who they don't like and high for who they do like. Keep it impartial guys or you will get the site a bad rep.

the video is roughly the same quality as the TFF release, which is cropped a fair bit, audio is better though and its still watchable

At least there is one person that understands how to rate a movie. Maybe there needs to be a "Sample" video that everyone has to watch and rate and if your rating doesn't fall within an acceptable range for that clip you don't get voting priv's. I know, too much work, but it seems as though its needed to teach people how to rate movies as the quality dictates (Cam/TS/TC/etc). A V:10 on a TS doesn't mean DVD quality and never will as it's comparing apple/oranges.

Most nukes mean nothing to me, if its playable and watchable its worth a watch/vote. I don't get into the whole "bitrate/stolen/whatever" arguments that may go on behind the scenes of a release. While technically they may be correct under the rules of a SVCD or whatever, I could care less as long as it plays.

My opinion for this release is:
V:6 (a little more pixelated than I would like but not bad)
A:7.5 (minor sync issues which is a pet peeve of mine)
M:8 (better than most movies out now IMO)

I lurk the vcdquality.com comments section for most releases where I have interest in downloading the movie. I have never posted before but I felt compelled to reply to the issues of the voting / rating system and throw my $.02s in. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to reply and critique a release. I believe there are many people who read the comments section as I do when deciding to download a movie or not. Sure, you could just view the sample, but this doesn't necessarily take care off all necessary issues that need to be critiqued in a film. A good example of that is audio sync issues.

A number without a comment means really little. For one person they might rank the audio high because they've only seen the sample and not seen any of the sync issues. For another person they might rank the audio a lot lower because sync issues overly bother them more than most. While I agree with KrackZaa on how categorized ratings should go, you see that even people would disagree on what a 1 and 10 would be.

Which brings me to my point about how I believe the system can be improved. Instead of focusing on a meaningless number that has a predisposed bias based upon any given person, how about rating the video/audio/movie based on a "poor,fair/average,good" system with comments and by type. Also preceeding this rating you say how much or little of the movie you've seen that you base this opinion on.

Example:
I have not seen this movie(obviously you would put either you watched the entire movie or the sample here but I have not):
V: average for TS - slightly pixelated, probably slightly cropped on the sides but not too bad
A: good for TS - quality is definitely good but has some minor sync issues
M: did not see yet

If you want numbers you'd simply look at the supposedly flawed(even though they don't seem that off to me when you cross check them with the comments) rating, but if you sift through comments usually you want words.
