Divx Dvd Player!!!!!!!!

I have not seen any news about this in these forums so decided to tell you all. Sorry if its old news but....

If you point your browser over to kiss then you will find information on their divx dvd player!

Capable of playing divx 4.xx and 5.xx encoded videos, jpeg files etc this is one cool bit of hardware!

Well anyway, im sure this is going to start a trend with the next generation of dvd players, so only good things are to come from this.

Also i would not advise you to buy this dvd player, the first player in the new generation is going to have a lot of problems!

He have also told me that they are about to lunch the DP-508 which will have a 80gb hdd.. so that you can just keep all your films on on the hdd, without burning the film..that one I am gonna get..

the elta plays everything no problems i have had it 2 months now and i wont be whatching another div x film on my pc, there are a couple of things though it is made in germany and all the instructions are in german lol, nothing like a translater would not sort out.

you can also update/flash the sofware on it, which the kiss doesnt have( i dont think), i am happy with it.

bigshrimp, you might as well piss yourself now, because IT DOES support xvid, which you'd have found out if you'd read the whole thread...

Posted by ezzzy on 06-10-2003 02:29 PM:

lol its not a bad bit of kit though, pretty good whatching your avi movies on tv, better than going to block busters!!!!!!!

Posted by cjh404 on 06-11-2003 01:42 AM:

Instead of starting a new thread there is also a new DVD player coming out soon that plays divx. MSRP is $200 which is not bad.

The Kiss supports xvid divx & Ogg Vorbis
and is updatable by CD (Download a zip and burn the image)

Posted by donteatdog on 06-22-2003 09:21 AM:

is there any special way that you have to burn the .avi movies on to the cd for the player to be able to read?

Posted by ezzzy on 06-22-2003 01:20 PM:

avi is a data file just burn the file on to disk in the normal way, no special way

Posted by dezil on 06-22-2003 01:25 PM:

Not as far as i know, it supports divx 3+ i believe, so just burn a divx avi to cd and put it in!

We received the Kiss DP-500 today at work. It's not the nicest looking DVD player but it does playback Divx. I re-encode an SVCD to Divx, and just burned the avi onto a CD with Nero. The kiss player had no trouble playing it back. The one big downfall was that you can only play or pause. I wasn't able to FF or REW, not sure if I did something wrong during the encoding or if this is a limitation of the player?

It is a limitation of the player.

Throw some other DivX versions and DivX at it and let us know how it handles them.
