Another Massacred DVD By Replica

Yet another in a long line of completely massacred DVDs by Replica. Why do they remove the outtakes? The quality impact is none by including the outtakes, and especially in a Joss Whedon movie or program you want the outtakes, and on Serenity, with the underlying comedy, the outtakes would be incredible and increase the DVD experience. Replica has once again ruined the entire experience.

Come on Replica, try Replicating instead of destroying. Have some pride.

Why don't you just buy the damn thing then?

I have to agree, buy the damn thing!

Some just don't care about "extras". They don't have 'em in the theatres, I don't miss them. What I care about is high quality video and audio on a DVD and a decent movie that I can watch more than once without being bored. Of course, I'm partial to SF.

This is a good one. Not perfect, but good.

The deleted scenes and DC are a nice touch. Of course I would have been just as happy without them. Anyone that wants more than this should just buy the DVD when it comes out. Most of those other extras probably suck anyway. In the end this is another great relese from Replica. Keep them coming

Bah. I will release it under my groups name after I buy it, properly ripped and encoded. Releasing a DVD is about the DVD experience. If you want movie only, grab the SVCD and burn it, or convert it. In movies like this, with underlying comedy and and a Joss Whedon project, the outtakes are a serios part of the DVD. Replica ALWAYS rips too much, when they would not be sacrificing any video quality, maybe a few megabytes of extras space. Its very negligable.

How can you complain about any Replica release? they are one of the best(if not the best) in the game...... First of all if you want any type of extras...buy the dvd. It does not 'ruin' the experience by not having them. Quit your complaining and fork over the cash. This release will hold you over until it is actually out and you can watch your precious outtakes.

Anyways....
V: 8.5
A: 8
M: ? Didnt watch the whole thing...not really into it

Keep up the good work Replica

I dont really care about what y0himba is talking about, but someone should pass him a gold star for that wonderful pun.

Posted by porco556 on 12-04-2005 05:49 PM:

Well, now that Y0himba (or whatever his name is) got the ball rolling, let's talk about the release a bit

This is a very good rip, and even contains the deleted scenes. Personally, I would have "destroyed" the release further by even getting rid of those and the director's commentary to buy another almost 500kbit/sec on the video. But that's just me (and wouldn't make a HUGE difference either).

8/10 Video - Looks good. Could just be the retail R1 that makes this not look great. Hard to say when you have nothing to compare it to. But people won't be hurting for sure with this at all.

9/10 DVD-R - Just not a fan of extras. But it keeps ONLY the good extras (except DC, does anyone actually listen to those?). Overall, nice addition to the collection.

Good movie I thought also. Came and went from theaters quickly + no big names from Hollywood = Good sci-fi flick. Sort of like Pitch Black (as in no name actors... even Vin was not well known then).

do you want to be flamed or something? replica makes the best and most consistent releases with little to no errors. if its one release group that i have total trust in it would be replica. the moment i see their group name i assume it is of high caliber. and why do you care so much about extras anyhow? the most that any group would include is the director's commentary, and they have done so for many releases. im sorry if they choose to rip trailers and "outtakes." anyhow this movie blew.

Replica are the best DVDR group around bar none.

Ironically they are also one of the few groups that do leave in some extras, and commentaries, when i would take everything out, if you want extras buy it or wait for a DVD9 release, quite common these days, i love extras myself, but its the minority of people who want them in rips.

Excellent release, i will prob buy this when i can as i already have Serentiy boxset, and this was a nice movie.
Video quality is very nice, cant wait to see how the retail looks.
Audio is nice too.

video 8: there appears to be quite an amount of low level noise on the transfer, which would likely be a fault of the source. hopefully the higher bitrate on the actual dvd improves this.

audio 9: great, clear audio.

film 10: definitely my favourite film this year, with batman begins, crash and sin city behind.

btw, apparently several stores throughout the US have already started to sell the dvd (ie, dvd depot and dvd palace).

Good release again Replica. Thanks!

8 Video looks very decent, not great.
9 Audio sounds great on my set
4 I guess you have to be a Firefly buff to really apreciate this one. Too bad, although I could have known as I wasn't into Firefly at all.

Gonna watch this again with Director's Commentary though. Depending on the director it could be a great addition to a movie

You might enjoy it more with DC? lol

Sorry, i just dont understand your logic is all

Another fine rls from Replica, who remain imo at least, the king's of the DVDr scene (often the only group to include any substantial extra's in their releases!)

Video - overall very nice, crisp and clear, as you'd expect from a DVD. At 4056kbps average, this is pretty much on the border of a good transfer but it holds out well enough.

Audio - no problems here, all good with 5.1.

Movie - waited a long time to see this, passed up the earlier XviD TC from Asteroids, as this film comes so highly rated. Glad i did, very involving film, maybe a little too technical on its sci-fi for some, but i loved it.

Extra's - DC is always a bonus, looking forward to hearing Joss Wedon's comments. Quite a lot else chopped out, apart from the Deleted Scenes, but its enough to keep me happy. Thx Replica.

Video = 10
No problems of any kind

Audio = 9
The original really should have been DTS. I needed subtitles in places to understand Joss Whedon's peculiar version of the English language, gorramit.

Movie = 7
It's very good except for the feeling of having seen it all before. I'm genuinely concerned for the mental state of anyone who thinks otherwise. Either they havent watched a sci-fi movie or series for the last five years or else they have the memory of a goldfish.

i keep having problems with my version of Serenity by Replica, there were several files missing, and after replacing them, i still get errors -
