Not great from the first 20 Rars ive grabbed, it looks a wee bit better than the XviD release, but i can see now why the XviD looks so bad in certain places, there is already pixelation in this one, and from the looks of it, this has also come from some sort of XviD source.

So the XviD has been re-encoded from a DVDR which possibly started out life as an XviD/DivX file.

Not got enough to check the Sync probs, will edit once its done, but i imagine the same probs will be there.

7/5/?

So this is better than the Xvid but you also say that it's only a 7 video rating?

LOL...

I know the AR is wack on the Xvid (maybe this DVDR too but I'm not sure) but the quality is amazing. I'd say 10 for a TC, 9.0+ in general video rating.

Hilarious.

Ummm, you don't rate this in comparison to its XviD counter-part. You rate it in comparison to other TC DVD-Rs in which case a 6-7 is justifiable mainly due to the pixelation, in which case I believe Redemption is right that it has been converted to DVD-R from an already compressed source, and washed out colors. I can't comment on any audio sync issues either as I haven't got the whole thing as well.

10 for a TC??? LOL what crap... did you ever see "The Island" TC.. this compared to that is more like a high 6 MAYBE low 7 for video..

You tripping or something, i still stand my the 7 rating, as although it is better than the XviD, it gets a lower rating as i have higher standards for DVDR stuff.

The AR is fine on the XviD and this, dont what you are seeing there, and the quality is average even for a true TC, and not the DVD Rips of recently, ones like the one mentioned below, "The Island"

Have you managed to grab some Retail DVDR of this by mistake, lol, as there is nothing amazing about this at all, when it looks like a decent TS, converted badly to XviD, then back to DVD.

What exactly is hilarious?

Posted by DarkGod2k3 on 10-16-2006 10:15 AM:

TC vs TS??

I noticed there's a debate on whether the source is really a TC or just a superb TS for the XviD by PuKKa. I haven't got the XviD but if it's the exact same source as this if you look at 0:42:53 you'll notice the camera shakes for about a second to show the edge of the film screen so this is definitely a TS.

Posted by Ratbag on 10-16-2006 11:10 AM:

Dont know what version your watching cant see any camera shake. No sync issues on this one though. Picture quality will not be the greatest due to the fact the running time of the movie is 2hrs 20mins.

V = 8
A = 8 At least its stereo
M = 10 I think its great (My personal opinion)

The best TC imo was T3. The Island was good, though, yes.

The whole second part of the film is out of sync

Hmmm, I can confirm there are large parts of the film where the audio is out of sync but I wouldn't go so far as saying the whole second part is. Still a large portion is. Also, while skimming through, I was able to notice a couple more camera shakes; They should be quite apparent to whoever actually bothers watching the whole thing.

Posted by Redemption1980 on 10-16-2006 10:28 PM:

Terminator 3 TC only seemed good at the time, looking back now, it wasnt that great, colours were off, and it was still kinda dark.

I remember The Island an I-Robot being more memorable, prob even more.

I just noticed the "Camera shake" and it dont look like camera shake to me, it slides from corner to corner, like something has slipped out, its far to smooth a pan, its def not shaking, after seeing that im pretty sure this is just a lower qualiy TC after all.

Posted by KrackZaa on 10-16-2006 10:58 PM:

that movement occurs during the telecine process, been discussed in previous release forums. as for the t3 "tc" it was certainly memorable, also check out the hide and seek tc and actually any tc by chakra from times passed, always top top quality. the tc's we get today are great because they come out soon after the movie is released...

The Underworld Evolution TC was pretty awesome, too.

Posted by llewhtork on 10-17-2006 02:35 PM:

v7 ...not the best, but watchable, about vhs standard

a7...it is slightly out of sync in places but not enough to affect the enjoyment of the film...the mrs didn't even notice!

m8... it really is a excellent film.

I watched the whole release last night. This is undoubtedly a TS. An exceptionally good TS mind you but still a TS.

The camera is moved on its tripod a good 3 or 4 times, and it is zoomed in and out at periods. It also goes out of focus and is refocused at points.

The audio has a pretty annoying hiss/hum to it and it does go out of sync ever so slightly in places but it does snap back very quickly (I watched this on XBMC).

The film was crap for the first 40 minutes but the last hour is intense if you can stick it out. Worth watching.

Overall then:

8/7/8

Anybody else has a problem with the last 5 minutes of the movie kinda pixelating and breaking up? a little skippy perhaps?

I have no idea why we are arguing whether this is a TC or a TS this is definitely a TC, and its pretty average. Agreeing with Redemptions rating of a 7 for Video and and 5 for audio....the movie is badass though, a solid 9. (saw it in theaters).

The Island TC has to be the best looking TC in some time. T3 was good as well, but i think the Island takes the cake for best TC. I-Robot was also good, coming in 2nd...

now lets drop this TC/TS debate and listen to Redemption because he knows his sh*t

yep, Redemption nailed it, fair score for an average job

V 7
A 5
M 7 ( i did'nt like nicholson's accent, a little too fake)

Posted by T.M. on 10-21-2006 08:17 AM:

v 7.5
a 6.5
m 8.5

Not bad . The sound is a bit ropey but very watchable. I didn't really notice the sync issues to much but I wasn't really looking for them. Thought Ray Winstone's accent was a bit dodgy never mind Nicholson's. You couold hear the cockney slipping through a few times. Funny when your meant to be a Irish/American gangster
