are you just bored today with these treads arthur?
This movie looks god-awful, horrid cgi, and I thought john cusack died back in the 80s, whoops, that was just his career.
Trailers look great.
But Stephen King movies without him being involved in production typically suck.
And in looking at the track record of the director and writers, I'm not expecting much more than disappointment.
The early reviews are actually quite good. I just hope it's good. Looks pretty good imho. I just hope it is.

I like the look of this. When I first saw the trailer I thought of Steven Kings "The Shining". Reminded me of room 237 in that hotel.
Should be better than the average dross of late
The movie is out and it's still getting good reviews, I'm going to see it. I can't wait to see it.

I caught 'The Ice Harvest' quite recently, darkish, noirish, not in Grosse Point Blank league, but worth catching. Not the greatest actor in the world, but he does have a certain charisma. And I definitely prefer the Cusack with receding hairline to the 80's John Hughes one.
1408 sounds interesting, looks to be exactly my cup of tea.

This does look pretty good, thanks for the heads up on the movie!
I dont generally like the suspense genre since it was taken over by japan remakes, but this has tweaked my interest, and im always 1 for a good ghost flick...
it is basically a whole movie about room 237 from The Shining, which is ok by me. That movie creeped me out big time as a kid and room 237 was the spookiest part. When Jack Nicholson is groping that ugly looking bird and she turns out to be even uglier and DEAD, fucking A.
dont forget about high fidelity for cusack
anyway...i been sein the trailers for this flick..and im all for it...they shouldve namned it 237 if thats the case...that wouldve been great...and it needs a framed poster of Scatman in the room

Just got back from 1408 and I can say that I am pleased with what I saw. It's a genuinely creepy and trippy movie. As an audience member, and maybe it was just me, but you become as enveloped in the room 1408 as John Cusack's character which I give kudos to the director and everyone behind the film. There are several moments in the film where I thought they could have cop'd out, but they didn't and that's what makes the film enjoyable. The final scene of the film is what sealed the deal for this movie because it left me with chills. I'm not going to divulge what exactly it was, but for anyone who is seeing this film in theaters you'll know what I'm talking about. Good movie, check it out.

Holy smug!!!. This was a really really great movie. It was defiently sending shivers up my spine. The end (which i wont reveal) can be quite discussed. It also has one song that will creep people out for sure (carpenters: we´we only just begun).
As for the movie being about room 237 from Shining?. No i dont think so. There are SOME references to that and other movies.
In my opinion this is the best horror i,ve seen this year and its not strange it already have a 7,9 rating at IMDB.
John Cusacks character really shines in this movie and Samuel Jackson as well. A few in the public mentioned something about snakes early in the movie.

Very good horror flick. Keeps you riveted right to the end. Which will be talked about. Not on par with the likes of The Exorcist or The Shining. Each instilled pure fear.

Liked it, didn't love it though.
***MAJOR Spoilers***
What's so great about the end? Kid's voice on the tape...par for the course as soon as the tape recorder appeared out of the box; is there another twist that could happen?
And Sam's "Well done Mr Enslin"...what's that all about? Cos he survived? All he did was start a fire? Did it never occur to the 50+ who'd died previously?
Don't get me wrong, I did like it. The build-up was fantastic, the psychological torture (especially his kid dying again) was great, just the 'punchline' was a bit disappointing.
Interesting that the movie gets away with the molotov cocktail making and gets a PG13 when another movie (an independent) was refused a rating for exactly the same thing.

was a bit dissapointed with this movie, i'm a great lover of this type of film but it just didnt do it for me.
SPOILERS (sort of)
it was going great until you saw the first "ghost" (the guy jumping out of the window). I found myself thinking "wtf, how shit does that look?". After getting kind of tensed up and caught up in the film, as soon as that happened i just felt kind of deflated.
loved the bit where the clock counts to zero then resets itself.
the ending gets you thinking a bit though. Hearing their daughters voice on the tape could make you think that he along with his wife are trapped in 1408 still, but Jacksons congratulation to Enslin dispells this theory. Maybe he just grins to himself in a "see it did happen and i'm not mental" kind of way.
In all, not a bad film, i just think it could have been executed a little better in parts.

I liked it, when he woke up on the beach I was considering throwing a beer bottle at my T.V set, glad thats not how it ended.
It was an average ghost story but its good cast makes it an above average movie.
Awesome flick. Kick ass movie. Nuff said.
