Anyone on Vista yet?
Just curious. I haven't used it since RC2. Going to be getting it very soon, just wondering if anyone has any major gripes with it

im on ultimate, installing sound drivers caused bluescreens but that was fixed by sticking with vistas default set which seem to work fine.
I love this OS, I just hope driver support gets upto speed soon with openGL etc
(im on a laptop though, so driver support for me is undoubtedly going to take longer to be sorted out fully)

ultimate,love it!
I just installed the retail copy a couple of days ago, Runs great.
Runs better than the RTM version.
So far I haven't had ANY bluescreens. Media center is working perfect.
It found my audio drivers for me, I didn't have to search for them.
So far everything is working perfect.

By the way, the mail software in Vista, Microsoft Mail is it called now instead of Outlook Express?
Does it support push?
I've become a fan of Lotus Notes in recent months especially because it uses push and so do my BlackBerry phones.
I use Notes 7 right now, but Notes 8 just looks incredible. I love IBM's Eclipse technology too.
CLICK!
You fuckin' nerd.
/sarcasm
::edit
I've been using Notes for over 6 years
and Linux now for almost 3!
I'd have called any Notes user a nerd 6 months ago. Then I actually used Notes properly.
It pisses all over Microsoft's chips and the competition. It's even more amazing when you look to the features included in earlier editions of Notes (even back to R4) and see just how far ahead of it's time the Notes software actually is.
On the other side there's no contest between Microsoft Exchange and Domino.
Domino has it beat everywhere hands down. It also makes life far more easier than it does adding, configuring and managing Exchange.
Lotus Notes 8 is just incredible, I can't wait for it.
I just took the plunge with Vista Ultimate.
Annoyingly nvidia driver now forces me to use the shitty nvidia control panel, i can't output fullscreen video to my second display (tv) and what is displayed on my tv is in black and white.
All these problems are listen on the nvidia site so it's my fault for not knowing about it before i upgraded. BUT it's a pretty major issue to not have sorted yet. fuckers.
brand new motherboard that is "vista premium certified" and only the onboard audio drivers work. not the lan, usb, firewire or anything else.
so i pitched it until the driver support is stable.
it looks fucking beautiful tho. god i want it so bad

took the plunge as well, i just installed Home Premium last night, enjoying it so far, gonna try and set up my network tonight.
Nice little comparison of XP to Vista in the latest (April) issue of Maximum PC. Overall Vista is 10-20% slower in games and some apps. But they state that the results are more than likely because XP been around for 5 years and therefore has stable working drivers while Vista in a sense is still in beta (driver-wise). They plan a follow up in a few months once the driver issues have been updated/resolved.
I had a dual boot with xp and the first rc vista for a while until my pc when shit crazy.
Had to wipe all disks and just went back to xp as i didnt see any adavantage using vista for my needs.
When it gets better game compatability and to a level of stability that xp is at now i may switch.. but for me it just seems bloated and unneeded.

***GO BOIL YOUR HEAD***
I'm going to wait a year, before I think about getting Windows Vista. Gives Microsoft time to work most of the bugs out.
had it, but got rid of it...
I have a Dell e1705 laptop, bought it last November. Of course Dell had the free upgrade to Vista when it would become available, so I jumped on that. I always like new gadgets and Vista looked to have some nice sleek looks. Dell didn't get the upgrade to most of its people until the beginning of March and when mine showed up in the mail I fucking installed it. It went pretty fast and I was thrilled, at first. Then the little things started to get to me, like all the fucking "permission granted" requests and not letting delete large folders. Certain programs didn't work, specifically Outlook would not function no matter how many uninstalls and reinstalls I did. My university's network didn't support Vista, so my shiny slightly new computer that I used to take to class and browse the web with was null, to make it better every time I tried to connect to the network I got the blue screen of death and my computer would fucking reboot every god damn time. Finally I got fed up with it and I fucking reformatted my hard drive and reloaded XP Pro. Now by no means is my laptop obsolete, 2 gig of ram, 2.16ghz core duo processor, fucking Nvidia Geforce Go 7800, my shit kicked. Oh, another thing to note when Vista was working, my graphics card only displayed has its dedicated ram so what used to be a 256 mb card showed up as 128, I was pissed. So this past weekend I reverted, and not regretting a fucking thing. I will state that right now Vista just isn't stable and supported by enough of what I need my computer for. But I will upgrade again, when all the fucking bugs get kinked out. I want to use Vista but I just lost too much of my computer and the fact that XP will still be suported until something like 2015 or some shit (don't quote me on that, but I remember reading an article about Micros continued support for their old OS). Of course, my issue might be different from others, but until I feel more confident about upgrading again, I'm steering clear of Aero.
