Hate Daredevil? Go F**k Yourself!

It seems Daredevil isn't as hated as certain people like to make out.

Take a gander at this which i just picked up on cinescape.

--
In just its first five days of release on home video, 20th Century Fox's DAREDEVIL made more than $55 million dollars from sales and rentals. That's a pretty good indication that the superhero film will turn out to be more profitable in home video than its domestic theatrical run (which it was still a $100 M performer.)

--

$55 million in 5 DAYS!! . Which leads me to think that most people that slagged it off either a) Hadn't seen it and didn't want to form an opinion against their peers or B) Actually really liked it but didn't want to form an opinion against their peers (404 looks at Dawgy)

Role on Daredevil 2!!

um 404, you should know by now that sales don't show the quality of product...do I even have to name examples? I think there are way too many examples.

the movie sucked, get over it.

Here, read this: http://maddox.xmission.com/dare_devil.html

Jesus..If i have to see that poxy cartoon strip which obviously was written by a 12 year old i'm gonna scream.

Also..Yeah i'd like examples. I'd like some examples of films that the Public were critical over and went on to not only score big at the box office but then do it again in the home dvd market (Star Wars ep 1 is exempt as an example). If a film was that bad during its theatre run why would people spend their hard earned on the dvd?

I thought the movie was alright.

the first scene where he fights @ the playground with Nachios was so wack!

I agree when people say that you shouldn't judge a movie by the amount of money it makes or lack therof. That said, I loved Daredevil and I don't care what people say. Usually when the majority shits on a movie, it's never as bad as they make it out to be. For some reason, the public HATES Ben Affleck too, which is one of the reasons why i WON'T believe the hype and see Gigli.

the movie was lacking. It was a short movie, why the hell didn't they add another 30 minutes to fully explain what the hell went on during the transition to daredevil. Did he get drunk have a 20 year black out and wake up with a suit?

You see nobody...not one person asked that same question with Tim Burtons Batman. So why ask it here? Maybe its because i know the back story that i let that go...

the thing I hate, is the whole DareDevil story...as I remember it, they had to hit you over the head with the fundamental plot lines that you would be able to get without having to be repeated over and over again...shit, I only watched the movie once, maybe I should get it another shot but there are a lot of movies that I need to see before that.

Daredevil sucks, and if you like it, you suck aswell.

the amount of money made by a movie does not equal the quality of the movie.. Lots of people have horrible taste, and lots of morons buy into the hype and go watch it on opening night.

I didn't compare the film. Its just the same plot holes people are so persistant in trying to point out are present in both films and yet nobody disses batman do they?

well
there are a couple reasons for that
A. it was a tim burton film and tim burton is not only more experienced than Mark Steven Johnson but he also is more of a director than johnson will ever even imagine

B.compare the cast
Daredevil-Ben Afflek and Michael Clarke Duncan
Batman-Michael keaton and Jack nicholson(in one of his best performances in his career)

C.Batman wasnt made to only capitilize on the popularity of comic conversions as daredevil(blatantly) was

D. Batman rocked the house.. and daredevil wasnt even that entertaining stoned

all in all.. daredevil was worth watching once just to form your opinion .. but has no repeat viewing value.

shittily made movie to cash in on the marvel movies craze going on atm

wanna see a decent marvel conversion...... blade is about the only one.. spiderman and daredevil were both shitty attempts

I thought Daredevil was on the same plane as T3 or The Matrix: Reloaded.

No Acting. Straight redundant action. Somewhat entertaining though....

Daredevil? That movie is gay, you wont find me here!

Posted by a2jward on 08-09-2003 11:05 PM:

When I was a wee little lad I learned to read by reading my dads old comics. I remember DD had a yellow and brown costume and not only was Matt Murdock the daredevil he also had anthor alter ego named Mike Murdock Matts twin brother who wasn't blind.

When I got old enough to get a paper route I bought comic books with my money. The daredevil comics I was buying were written by Frank Miller (who wrote the origanal Robocop screenplay) and that was my favorite 3 or 4 year run any comic book ever did.

Batman the movie comes out and it was the greatest comic to movie adaptation ever at that time. The monumnetal succes of that movie gave me hope that so many of the comic characters I had followed would get their chance to make it to the big screen and retell some of the stories that I enjoyed as a child.

My hopes were dashed after I watched the Batman with Robin and Batgirl. Luckily Spiderman was a success in my eyes and I once again prayed for a bright future.

I was excited to hear Daredevil was getting a big screen adaptation even if it was going to be played by Affleck but when I understood the story line they were going to do was the greatest Darwedevil one of all time I said no worries there is no way they could screw it up.

The characters that made it into the movie Electra, Bullseye and Kingpin where all introduced and either died or ended up in jail. All in a matter of an hour and a half. That is the reason I hated the movie. In my life I feel I have read at least 7 or 8 years of the Daredevil comic and to have the Kingpin end up in prison in 90 minutes when in the comics it took close to twenty years for that to happen was disgraceful.

I'm not complaining about plotholes I'm complaining about creative isuse of a comic charater. Now I know Moviegod has read some comics and since 404 sounds like he was pretty filled in on the DD's background I'm going to assume you read them too,
dont the both of you fell dissapointed with the protrayal of Daredevil in this movie?

I'm glad the movie is going to make back what it cost to pjroduce it though. As one of my top 5 comic characters I would be mighty bummed if Matt Murdock turned out to be a flop.
