are there "alien subs" for the jap speaking parts?

alien subs <--- term coined from the star wars ep1 divx that had no subs for alien speaking parts.

Top notch release, video and audio are both excellent. And what a wonderful movie! One of this years' favourites.

There were problems for this one I think but there has been a sub fix released. Hope that helps!

i got the subfix, and want to hardcode the subs to the video, using virtualdub.

now, virtual dub needs an ssa filetype, and i cant convert these subs, i get a read error. anyone else get such a probelm, or know a solution?

at the risk of repeating myself try this small tutorial for adding/viewing/encoding subtitles in avi http://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/153058.php
...nice rip!

Can any of you confirm if the film has mp3 or ac3 audio?

download the subtitles from dvd.box.sk and play them with bsplayer or ffdshow...
i`m watching with romanian subz so i don`t care... the japanese lines are translated.

Posted by chessboxer on 07-26-2004 11:31 PM:

Damn! I downloaded a version a few days ago with 127kbps VBR mp3. It's definately a DVD rip though. I'm glad I didn't watch it. Why don't these releases come out in DivX 5.1.1? Can anyone tell me the file size of both parts?

696 + 696

maybe the version you downloaded was the tc.
all divx 5 releases are nuked (for bad codec reason)
xvid 1.0 is much better

Great movie, yes 10/10/8!

As for DivX vs. Xvid, i don't see the difference in quality, but i see allot of problems with playing Xvid on standalone dvdplayers! Some xvid-movies play, some don't and others are just messed up pixels on the screen! Not one problem with DivX5 though...

Does everyone's version have the music louder than the voice? This seems to be the problem that im having.

Posted by snausage on 08-27-2004 08:44 AM:

The music kicks in pretty loud sometimes. Probably supposed to be like that.

Posted by RockmanEXE on 08-29-2004 12:56 PM:

a bit late but here goes

this movie is pretty good, it had a nice flow to it, it was a little slow in areas, the first movie had a lot of crazy fight scenes which was cool.

volume 2, i dont know it almost feels like if they cut out some stuff in 1 and re-arranged it they could have done it in one whole movie

the fact that they have to "fill some time" in order to get to the end and conclusion of the whole film is kinda boring, i mean sure action scenes are great, actors were great, but it had a different tone than the first one.

Most of volume 2 was remembering back in her past and things, but it was sorta redudant i mean yeah we need to know more of her past, but we know that in the end she is going to kill bill (or at least try to) so why beat around the bush with backstory.

People are giving this movie more praise than it deserves, i mean yeah its great, finally get to see the conclusion but i think they could have cut to the chase more.

Edit: Don't ruin the movie for others..spoilers will be deleted .P

Posted by FrightfoO on 09-04-2004 08:48 AM:

Just got around to watching this release.

I watched the full thing on Xbox (which uses a MPlayer based version of media player) and did notice a one point the volume drowns out the actress, but that's supposed to be there I believe.

The major thing is that I noticed is there's a glitch between the 37 and 41 minute mark into CD2 (scene with Bill behind the bar). I can't remember the exact point. If you watch that part with MPlayer or something you'll see quite a large visual defect. I think that's a good enough reason for someone to do a proper, but the movie's out now, so ripping it is possible now. Still though there is a reason for a group to label their release a Proper.

Note: the glitch is significantly less noticeable if you just decode using the XviD codec.

Anyone else notice it?

Yes, at about 39 minutes. Very annoying! And there's no alternative in sight... Maybe someone will feel compelled to do another encode due to the corrupt data (or even better, the uncut version).

you mean in the 2 years since this thread was last used you havent found an alternative? you arent very good at the internet are you...

Perhaps you haven't noticed, but these "scene rules" tend to bring stagnation and bad quality in many cases. Luckily there are some groups that don't feel they have to be bound by this silliness.

At any rate, no, I am not aware of any worthy 2 CD / 1/3 DVD alternatives. If you know of one, and can be helpful instead of snide, please, do indicate what you were referring to.

Buy the DVD instead of bumping old threads.
