someone said, that the fs is the unrated version, but why is the ws version 4 min longer than the fs?

AGN0

Posted by QuickSurfer on 07-07-2004 12:07 AM:

I'd just go for the FS as there is only a marquee text that scrolls along the bottom periodically, no black and white scenes or anything

plus I think the FS is unrated since you see alot more in it

Posted by IcedOut3E on 07-07-2004 07:07 AM:

Yeah the FS one has tits in the bar and in the dance so Im assuming thats the unrated one...

Posted by metalhead03 on 07-08-2004 04:37 AM:

I can't get the fs version to play, it gives me a decoder error

Posted by President on 07-08-2004 04:55 AM:

Why such high scores? This release is completely butchered. It's encoded at 29.97 fps progressive, which is about as wrong as you can get, and there are tons of duplicate frames and very jerky motion.

Maybe these guys should read a guide or two before they started releasing stuff. It's not exactly rocket science to rip a DVD to SVCD.

Posted by Koolice on 07-09-2004 02:52 AM:

not so good, the watermark in the corner, and the scolling text, and its probably not the unrated version, i will wait for the unrated retail dvdrip svcd.

/me wonders why this person complains so much, and where he claims there are duplicate frames because he sure nvr saw them or any jerky motion.
Mayb it was his pc i dunno, but somethin is fishy.

Nothing fishy, Anybody who knows the first thing about digital video would have spotted how bad this conversion is. Maybe you are watching on poor equipment where it doesn't matter anyway, or maybe you are used to jerky VCD encodes, which are often 29.97 fps progressive as well, but trust me, a DVD to SVCD encode should either be 23.976 fps with 3:2 pulldown enabled, or failing that, 29.97 fps interlaced, not progressive. 99% of all releases get this right. It's not difficult... except for whomever released this version, I suppose.

That's why I'm complaining. Hope it made it clearer.

played perfectly fine for me and there werent any duplicated scenes.........but the text @ the bottom can get kinda annoying and the B&W scenes come in durin the best parts of the movie :-\

Not duplicate scenes... duplicate frames. It's pretty obvious during pans, but if you still can't see it, try and put your DVD player in pause mode, find a scene where the camera moves and step through the frames 1 by 1. You will notice a pause on every 5th frame because it's a duplicate of the previous one. This is what happens when a newbie converts a DVD, because they think it has to be 29.97, so they deinterlace it, but you should never, never, never, ever deinterlace an SVCD.

Posted by Puzzlepants on 07-11-2004 08:19 AM:

Scanned through the release, not bad at all. WS thank god. This will be it for me on this movie, but if you want the unrated, go with the FS dvdscr or wait for a retail rip.

On the movie, much better than I thought it was gonna be. Not ground-breaking by any means, but definitely a good flick

Posted by akasmiler on 07-13-2004 12:32 AM:

seemed fine ot me - no problems at all

ok watermark in top right and the occasional balck and white scenes but overall stunnin

8/8/9 this film was good
