"Bad RAR Sizes"? Wow.... however, this isn't the only flaw in this release, and honestly, when it comes to great movies, it's probably not a bad thing to get extra-anal and nuke releases on nitpicky things - until a decent cam/ts/etc comes along.

Garbage releases for the sake of a quick strike on the scene has become a bane of the community. How many good movies have nothing but crap releases out there, precluding any decent releases later?

At least a nitpicking nuke can salvage that and give other groups an opportunity to put something decent out there.

Hmmm ... watched a bit but since it's nuked not gonna rate.

If you really HAVE to see this now I'd grab the Devise CAM release. It looks like the same source but a worse conversion.

I don't plan on watching this, but I'll give one part of the rating

M:8.5

Saw it at midnight when it came out. Probably the best Star Trek movie ever. Casting is dead on, storyline is fantastic, and it's a great introduction to Star Trek for non-trekkies, and a great reboot to the series for longtime fans.

Prolly one and the same since they thank someone else for the audio in the nfo. It was just titled as cam.

"Thanks to our friend DotNose2.0 for the audio. Great Job!"

OK .. ya both got me .. grabbing it now. I was busy doing mommas day prep but see it now.

"This is the russian telesync that we used as a video source. It is watermarked at 3 places during the movie. We didn't blur it intentionally, because we respect other people's work. We did some filtering, fixed the colors mostly. Also here is some line audio which is a little loud but overall is very good. Supplied by our friend DotNose2.0. Thank you and enjoy... "

Late Edit: Thanks Mods for allowing the thread to continue a bit even though the release(s) being discussed are technically off topic.

Can they not just blur out the watermarks? (and also make it 1 cd)

aye some group prolly will do that but then it will(should by release rules) get nuked for stolen from p2p

BUT i remember a release last year by a p2p group called anon who put an A top left hand on their releases and a scene group released it with the A blurred forget the movie and it wasnt nuked

Posted by gezzer on 05-10-2009 12:35 AM:

Got the devise TS a couple of hours ago and it's sound. This is just a rip off of devises effort and should be nuked.P2P are certainly winning at the moment.shape of things to come ?

This copy is ripped off..

I am rating the Devise release, as a TS:

Video - 8
Very crisp, clear, definitely used a good camera..only complaint is some darker scenes are kind hard to make out

Audio - 7
It's okay, not good, not bad, gets distorted a bit towards the end of the film but I was listening thru headphones so maybe it's not as noticable as I thought

Movie - 10
Great story, good effects.

I usually don't even bother with anything less than a screener, but I made an exception here, and I'm glad I did. Excellent quality and great timing as well (speed of release).

Rated as cam

V-9
A-8
M- started & stopped watching, looks great!

I have the ts as well, all I can add is I'm waiting to get a SCR if not better.
Its going to be worth it imo

Star Trek

As a cam

Video: 7
Audio: 6 (a little tinny with some distortion)
Movie: 9

I think they really captured the spirit of Kirk, Spock and the whole original crew pretty well. I'll see this on the big screen for sure.

Thanks to the poster for a quick release.

Posted by DarthRanger on 05-10-2009 08:59 PM:

Thumbs up devise-start

I grabbed this because I've really wanted to see the movie, more than the quality of the release.

Question: With the copy I have, it starts out right in the middle of a battle scene. Is that the way the movie actually starts? Just curious.

As for the ratings:

V - 8 (as in an '8' rating for a cam)
A - 6 or 7 (it sounds tinny)
M - 8 (only watched the first couple minutes)

For a quick Cam version of a major release it's just fine & dandy.

D/R

V-6
A-6
M-?

There are a lot of TS, but everyone have the same source Zvezdnyj.put.2009.D.TS.ELEKTRI4KA
a russian non-scene group.

DEViSE release looks good; there's the TS of the iTALiAN Crew SiLENT(in the nfo, their source is German, although is russian)have released the REPACK, they have correct the AR.

Anyway, i'll wait for a better version.

Reply to Darth Ranger

Yes, the devise release begins in the middle of a battle scene with the USS Kelvin. Tough to make out the details of the battle due to the poor video quality.

Posted by Blackrazor on 05-12-2009 07:50 PM:

I saw the movie on the big screen with my GF on Sunday night.

I haven't DL'd a cam copy in some time (I wait for better now), but I really wanted to see it again....

V-6
A-6
M-9

And now I am going back to the theater on Thursday night to see it again! IT IS WORTH THE $$$ TO SEE IT. I am so impressed with the alternative old-new story line, and with that, the future movies to follow.

I was never a big Trekkie either.

Posted by mrblonduk on 05-14-2009 11:04 PM:

must say the actual pic quality is excellent for a cam but christ alive how zoooooooomed in is it?! litterally 1/2 of the screen is missing! i would rather have a slightly grainy pic than miss both the top, bottom and sizes of the screen. that said i did watch the whole thing so it is bearable!

V: 6 would be 9 but for major zoom factor
A: 7 ok and thats about all there is to say about that
M: 8.5

would like to watch again when R5 or dvd SCR is avail.
