Eden Lake

Eden Lake is a great little British slasher movie.

It's realistic and Brutal and it showcases some good young British talent.

Linky

It's kind of a zeitgeist movie about the lack of modern parenting skills and how kids today have no morals. Its realism is what makes it so tense. You can try to imagine yourself in the same circumstances and you can wonder if it was you in that situation whether you would rape the teacher or not.

This one's on my rental list. After Martyrs and Mum & Dad, and I've yet to watch Frontiers but I have it here...

Is torture porn making a comeback?

I've had Eden Lake for some time, but keep putting off watching it.

As for Martyrs, I started watching it a couple of weeks ago, and just started it back up last night. I didn't get any further watching it this time though, I fell asleep (beer)! The girlfriend liked it and the sister thought it was disturbing. Speaking of Frontiers, I'm actually getting that atm! Last night I picked up, Irreversible, Martyrs (dubbed, also have subbed) and Haute Tension (dubbed, have seen it, AWESOME).

I love these crazy French movies, any more you recommend?

Note: I hear Sheitan is really good.

Seems like you covered most of the bases. The only other Frenchies I could remember were La Haine and Renaissance - neither were torture porn though. Never seen Irreversible, have trouble with the idea of the ultra-realistic rape scene. I did like Haute Tension.

Martyrs is a weird one... definitely in three acts - each gets worse than the one before.

Ils was good - I assume you've seen it though?

Watched it a while ago, I can recommend it ,jingo's right as usual decent English slasher flick. It's sort of been done in the American backwoods style but has substituted chav nippers for the usual backwoods retards.

Can't say that I have! I will add it to my list along with Sheitan.

You may think you've seen it (Ils) if you've seen The Strangers, but it's really not the same movie just the same premise (home invasion).

Yeah, I was just reading that. Can't wait to get it!

Any of you seen Eden Log?

back on track...

...I watched Eden Lake a few months ago and thought it was a great flick. I was expecting a bit more nastiness in the way of revenge but it was the ending that did it for me...hated the ending. Made me want to go out and batter some chavs (probably the exact reaction they wanted from the film).

Nobody likes a snitch......so the paki kid found out

Nope, I just checked out the trailer for it though and it looks suitably weird enough to get my interest. I'll grab it and watch it sometime.

At first I thought it was going to be about a victim from Eden Lake curling one off in the woods, had to check imdb to make sure it was an actual film.

If you like this then watch timber falls as well.

Lol. I'll be getting this later, I'm currently getting Ils (Them).

Ils is not too great. It's 1 and a quarter hours waiting for something to happen, then being sorely disappointed when it doesn't.

I MUST see Gnaw!

Well, Frontiers was rather boring.

Eden Lake has just been despatched.

Watched Gnaw earlier, or at least tried to, ended up skipping through most of it. Its not really my cup of tea, pretty unoriginal run of the mill kind of stuff, badly overacted, no suspense, cheaply filmed. Watched Mum and Dad the other night, it was better than Gnaw, it didn't blow me away but it was watchable and original.

Picking up Mum and Dad, I'm hoping it's good.

Unrelated...but I'm also getting: El Orfanato (FINALLY!!!).

Did you ever get/watch Eden Log?

It seems there are two films called Gnaw.

The one I watched for three minutes was the one about completely unlikeable cunts being killed and eaten, or something. As it was based in Suffolk I found it hard to suspend belief.

The one I want to see is the zombie flick.

Posted by David Cameron on 05-16-2009 04:59 PM:

The one I watched was the one with the acting school failures running around the woods trying to make Wrong Turn 3.

No

I watched Eden Log, or at least I tried to. It was a little too abstract and 'wannabe different' for my liking. Acting was poor, it was filmed cheaply and was a little too arthoused arthouse to enjoy.

Eh, I might pass on it then.

Saw Eden Lake today, bit of an oddity - the false hope stuff wore a bit thin later into it but still very good. I think I'd have been more digusted/taken in if the kids had built up to those violent acts rather than going straight for it.

And, blatant rip off from The Descent near the end, after she grabs the map.

Still, very entertaining and a nice (?) ending.

Sheitan (which was released as Satan) hopefully tomorrow if I have time.
