The Matrix: Revolutions

Minor Spoilers below...

Prepare to be disappointed. When you come out of the theatre expect to say to yourself "that was gay".

When I watched reloaded, I was mildly entertained, the fight scenes of the movie just made up for the boringness. However, Revolutions does the things you hated most about Reloaded, but even more.

Expect to have even more Computer FX. I don't know why they didn't just turn the third one into a Squaresoft film. The actors are barely in the bloody thing.

Expect long-winded action sequences. When Neo fights Smith in Reloaded, I found myself saying "get on with it already" about half way through the sequence. I was kinda saying that for the whole third film.

Expect the film to start off with lots and lots of boring dialogue again. Apparently the directors feel shoving all of the talking into the beginning then just having the rest of the film as action is a good idea.

Expect the absolute most inconceivably lame ending you can possibly imagine. It's not confusing either, it's just... bad. It makes me think of carebears.

*So disappointed, I'm not rating this.

bleh i cant trust this review. He clearly saw this movie for the wrong reason if hes complaining about the cgi and the length of the action sequences... lol. Damn fool why didn't u just read the book then.

CCz, Screening in New York.

I stated the reasons I disliked it. There are some great scenes that make it worth watching, but the cons far outweighed the pros in Rev.

It's not that I don't like a good action scene, or the amount of CGI. They just reached a rate in this movie where you want the fight the end just to continue the plot.

My only example could be the 100 smith clone fight in Reloaded. About halfway through the fight I was thinking "get on with it already".

It's ultimately the cheesy end that killed the beast for me. If they could have put together something that just absolutely blew my mind, all would be forgiven. However, that is definately not the case with this. I won't spill the beans on the ending, lest I be raped by 40 of you for doing it.

I'm not saying don't see it. I went and saw Matrix Reloaded after the generally poor reviews it received, just because it was a sequel to the Matrix.

Some people may still love this movie just based off the huge amounts of action (after the first long talkathon at the beginning).

Alright... thats fair, the agent smith clones scene in 2 was really, really long and totally drug out... but I noticed that after having scene both movies once, those were the elements I wanted to see again, and that gives or (gave) Matrix and Matrix reloaded some serious replay value. I do get what your saying now that you have done some elaborating on how you were really disapointed in the ending of revolutions, and that where the majority of your decision comes from. I just hope that I disagree cuz im really looking forward to this movie, and i know im not the only one. If however, hollywood fucks this one up, im done with movies... lol. I will never ever give into hype again.

the only part i liked about reloaded was the twins scene/freeway scene...

the rest was kinda lame...

but it did give me some insight to "the matrix"

Although I've never agreed with Exorcist on anything, I think he might be right on with this review. Everything I've seen, read, or heard gives me a sick sort of feeling....kinda like Reloaded did.

Saw this movie myself at the midnight showing. Got back a few minutes ago. No spoilers contained herein.

Acting was fair, it had a few turns I wasn't expecting, a few things I knew would happen, and a few times I caught myself smiling with the same grin usually reserved for those "that's what you get, motherfucker" moments.

The CGI was pretty.. it was downright beautiful and the fights did get long-winded, but then, you expect 12 round fights when everyone involved is in prime condition.

Not all the talking is done in the beginning as was stated before; the script played out well and all in all, I think it was a fitting end to a good trilogy. (Clearly the first movie was the best for story, I don't think anyone would dispute that.) This one quite possibly has the most/best action.

I'd say definitely see it in theatres if you're a fan of the Matrix movies; you'll lack a lot if you watch it on the little screen at home.

Hmmmmm

In my opinion this film doesnt really round off the trilogy and just isnt a matrix film.

1 and 2 try to push the story on, and this 3rd installment does to some extent but not to the levels ive come to expect from the matrix.

Never the less it IS still a good film and does entertain, but maybe i expected too much from this movie and that is why i am dissapointed.

For anyone who has seen it tho, possibly what i think its the best scene is where the ship with neo and trinity on it flys into the sky and you see the sun. Reminds you of where they really are. V clever.

What does everyone else think?

lol not a great review but i agree with what youre saying. if it werent for the final fight scene i probably would have walked out of the theatre during all that machines attacking shit.

....this isn't a personal attack against you, but it seems several people were dissappointed by this ending and made it clear that they were. However, no other ending could fit into this movie...or prove me wrong

I think i was expecting some kind of great truth, that they were building up towards. A revelation that absolute blew my mind. The answers supplied and the reasoning given were far too mundane when you read some of the theories out there. The movie was all straight forward, there is no big secret, it's just pure mindless action.

I already covered this when I reviewed Reloaded. In a nutshell, Neo being able to control machines while not connected to the Matrix was a contradiction of the trilogy's own physics, because it required Neo to have psychic powers in a world that had previously been described as behaving like the world of us viewers. The most enlightened Buddhist monk can't reach out his hand and shut off my computer by will alone, so why should Neo?

I said in my Reloaded review that if this turned out to be the case, I would have to ritually desecrate a copy of Revolutions. Photos of this will be forthcoming.

The ending I was hoping for was any ending where Zion is itself inside a Meta-Matrix. Maybe the machines were just bright enough to build two of 'em, and make one more hackable. Maybe Neo, Trinity, et al., were all computer programs, with the operators of the Meta-Matrix being humans trying to create their first sentient AI, and the Oracle and Architect were actually avatars of the real humans. Maybe Neo woke up and found himself inside a Sno-Globe in a Disneyland gift shop. I mean, really, anything would have been better than Neo upgrading to Psychic Powers 1.0 in Zion's world by visiting a foreign computer system in VR.

When they went above the clouds it was well cool probably the smartest clip of the whole film as it did allow you to think that Neo & Trinity had a renewed sense of hope and vigour.

On the whole IMO i think it is open for more Matrix movies in the future as their are just too many unanswered questions, besides there have been estimates of 3 Billion dollars, that the whole trilogy is expected to coin in. Making the 3 films was around 250 Million so that is a huge Wad of dough in profit, the dollar reigns supreme and their probably be more.

This would be a waste as the only step is destroying machine city but that would destroy not only the machines but also all the poor twats who were still plugged in to the matrix. The trilogy should now be put to rest but if their is money to be made who knows?

Bad review. Before you review it understand it. To say the CGI brings the movie down is a joke. So you like CGI untill it turns into the best CGI in Flim history.

Well what the wachowski's thought up an ending such to that effect that it was a "mind-fuck", how would it play out? How many people predicted a Matrix in the Matrix? That was the ending I was expecting...I was glad I was proven wrong, I hate when things go as "expected".

As for Neo having psychic powers...I wasn't all for that...But the reasons behind his powers was that he was the anomaly (i.e. part man/part machine) How that transfers to psychic powers I do not know. But that is a critique for Reloaded, as it was introduced in that movie. However the movie would not of played out much differently if he hadn't those powers...they would fly to the sky sooner...they would just shoot the sentinels at the end of Reloaded...his psychic powers do not play an overwhelming role other than a nice big explosion scene towers the end of the film. Of course they would have to find another reason for him to go into a coma (blunt trama to the head [i.e. sentinel whacked him one before others shot it])

There are many different ways to play out this movie, but they dont provide as much action, and dont make you think as much.

Yup. Me too. Sorta made the whole movie worthwhile. Only problem was that I think the crescent moon was pointing the wrong way.
