it should be nuked as if you extract the .img file there is still the "this torrent was downloaded from demonoid" text file.

compared to the TL release from the day before they are very similar. I think its a shame if mvs really did steal this (and im sure they did).

still

v=7.8
a=8.5

Anyways.. if this is the 'original' that the xvid was encoded from, then the picture should be better quality.. no? Dunno what is up with the sound on this and the xvid...
I extracted the audio to GoldWave, trimmed the song during the credits from the 20th release, spliced it to the ending of this audio, resaved as a .wav, then recoded to ac3, and all that wierdness disappeared, sounds much clearer now for some reason, sound levels are normal... beats me.... If this vid is better than the xvid I'll snag it and add my better audio ....

It would be possible that mVn pre'd before the others, and that it's really mVn's rls, but either way, this is identical to the TL release, which is converted from the xvid. It is interlaced, as well, which doesn't look as good on most people's shit. Either way, it's still top notch.

9/8/?

i believe this is a MVS rls... I think the torrent group stole it from MVS.. this was on my site this morning at around 7am PST... Im not at home so i can't check pre time on it. but by sample

how is this in comparison to the neptune release quality wise?

:MOD EDIT: ..chaps... no more questions on which release is better please! I deleted over half of the posts in this thread as they didn't contain a review (most of them were the question above). Read the rules - the sole purpose of this thread.. etc. etc. -V

Never mind I think I just answered my own question by viewing the first few RAR's. This thing is shrunk both vertically and horizontally into a smaller scale WS and looks like crap compared to Neptune's release.

Posted by JarHead413 on 03-23-2007 01:24 AM:

If it was an anamorphic release I'd have kept it but I don't own any 4:3 TVs anymore and zooming in to make it fit looks worse than a well converted AVI to DVD. Plus it's noticably interlaced on a good TV. But for most people, this release is perfect for regular TVs. You can't ask for anything better right now.

Rated as a screener:

V-9 (or 7 if all you have is a 16:9 TV)
A-7 (has very slight popping and distortion)
M-10 (completely loved the look and feel which made up for the slightly overdramatic dialogue)

And I know it's not the groups fault, it's the source, so I'm not bashing on them (even tho they stole it apparently)

Good video but the highs/trebles are way too saturated and distorted if turned up. Going to try to rip this one and clean the audio. Can't even steal something and make it better.

STICK TO REVIEWING THE RELEASE AND NOTHING ELSE. NO MORE MENTIONING OF SOURCES.

Posted by JustMe on 03-23-2007 06:47 AM:

I just finished watching this at work on a 21" normal tv without stereo or any other speakers than those that are on it already (Thankfully, I saw this in theatres 1st).

On said tv, it looked & sounded absolutely top notch! Not quite the picture quality I would expect from a screener tho. It looks more like R5 or a VERY good TC to me.
Nonetheless, it does still look amazing, even in the darker scenes.

Audio was in perfect sync thru out & yes there were a few (very few) pops in it every now & then.

Movie itself was bloody amazing! It is very graphic tho, so defo not for the squeemish

As for the so called source.... I really don't give a rats arse where it originated. I just thank mVs for getting a hold of it & making it available, cheers guys

Viewed on a 42" 1920*1080 lcd. PQ is very nice, audio is in sync and decent, but there is the occasional underwater-like "bubbly" effect that plagues the audio now and again. You have to kinda be listening for it to bother you tho. Overall a fantastic rls.

I got the [,,,] release and to me it looks just like the XviD. I don't know why they even wasted their time putting that menu on there, it's the worst I've ever seen. The sound is too loud, but the video is just fine. If the mVs release is the same as this, grab either, you'll be satisfied.

my converted xvid is better then this crap. the audio is horrible.

Posted by Tempo on 03-24-2007 05:30 PM:

No one else has mentioned this, but I get chugging video once every 10 min or so. It's sorta like how on some old machines where you hit pause and the video takes a few steps forward before pausing. Well in this case the video chugs like that if its about to pause but then picks up again. This is when the audio goes out of sync and then catches up again. Anyways, the picture is very clean and sharp otherwise. I'm viewing on a 42inch panasonic plasma with a yamaha standalone. Chugging could just be compatibility issue with my player.

v- 6 if it weren't for that chugging 8
a- 6 because of the sync issue caused by said chugging. otherwise very crisp and clear

This release looks great, but it's definitely mislabeled. The audio is obviously a line source, during long durations of orchestra, you can hear the warbling effects of the mp3 recorder used to capture the line audio, and the audio is totally missing from the credits, which is a common thing for line audio TS's, not DVDSCR.
This also means they converted the mp3 audio to ac3, which is against scene rules.
Great release but should've been labeled as an R5 Line, not a dvd screener.

V - 8 - Video is exceptionally good for such a quick release.
A - 6 - Audio is ok, but has some issues.
M - 8 - I hate to side with the masses, but this movie is pretty damn good.

looked almost retail on my tv, no synce problems brilliant

Posted by White Rabbit on 03-28-2007 12:29 AM:

for the record, this release was done on a standalone DVD recorder, probably by pressing play on one source and then recording on the other.

i'm only saying this because people haven't picked up on it yet and i have seen this exact style menu before on a dvd recorder disc, hence why it has the date and time on it, why the video is recorded in "2 hour mode" - movie is slightly under 2 hours long, release is slightly under 4GB (proving my theory), oh and dvd recorders cannot detect widescreen bars from analog source, which is why the dvd is 4:3 fullscreen.

anyways, now that is cleared up, i'll rate the release

v 9 (this looks like a dvd source being played back on another dvd player, then recorded on a dvd recorder with basic a/v leads from one to the other. this is why its slightly blurrier than a retail dvd and why it is interlaced, and same goes for the 4:3 encoding)

a 9 (it sounds fine to me, a little bit loud but this can happen with half-assed analog transfers. no idea how its done, perhaps it was a foriegn dvd which had a foriegn voiceover during the credits so the guy who made it unplugged the audio cables while recording. i'm only saying this because its the best quality direct audio i've heard since DTS died, if it wasnt for the slight distortion during loud scenes. if it is actually line audio, the reason why it is in AC3 is again because it was done on a dvd recorder, possibly by connecting the MP3 to the audio-in jacks on the dvd recorder)

m ? (haven't yet watched, but will do soon)

thanks mVs even though you stole it

encoding software is the equivalent of The 404 going on a diet and walking thru the door. takes longer and sometimes more skill, but ultimately worth it.

I had to laugh at some of these posts about someone stealing the video.. duh! If someone didn't you would be at the theatre watching 300... get a life!
Video looked amazing on my 1080p and the sound had some minor issues.. I downsized the video on my oppo 981HD and this fixed the stretched screen and corrected the aspect.. Really great video.

Movie 10 (Best film I have seen this year) Great Start!
