another nice tc, the sound on this isn't the greatest though. picture is nice, a tad faded, but pretty good. sound is a bit muffled, or deep, i don't really know how to describe it. theres also a bit of distortion/noise at the end of the sample, but i dont know how it is throughout the whole movie. overall good and watchable.

8/7/x

Decent TC , the sound has a few distortions at times. The video is definatly watchable. Without a doubt the best release of this out. Thx to asteroids once again, the only consistant quality releases lately. Movie was decent too, wasnt what i expected for a wes craven movie but worth watching.

8/6/7

That distortion/noise at the end you were hearing was water from a reservoir

Red.Eye.TC.XviD-ASTEROiDS moves during dreamworks too so if your gonna nuke the vcd telecine then this should be done also

video is a littlel dark, seems most tcs these days are...
audio imo is great, nice and loud, with depth.

not seen movie yet, but having flicked through on standalone:

Nice release as usual

Picture is very nice, burn it and watch it on standalone, and you won't notice a difference from any other very high quality release. Sound at beginning has a few parts with some hissing, lasts about 1 1/2 seconds each time, happens 3 times, but you can still hear the sound in the movie just fine.

Very nice ASTEROiDS

v:9

Very suspenseful

Doesnt seem as good as their other TCs so could the a TS. Audio seems to have a hollow sound to it...

7,7,?

Posted by zerobyte on 09-02-2005 07:53 AM:

This should be nuked for mislabled ts.It is not a tc by any means however it is a great looking ts.Good re-encode.Good movie though a lil more predictable then I thought it would be.

Posted by fluffinator on 09-02-2005 06:11 PM:

Wow, atleast you guys rated this one, as opposed to the vcd thread. geezus..

Well, i skipped thru the disc, and it looks FANTASTIC for a ts these days. I didn't watch long or close enuff to notice the zooming at the main logo, so I can't put my two cents in for it being a tc or ts.

For a ts, great job, nice wide screen, didn't notice a hint of cropping or angle.

Sound is lacking, hollow, muffled, can't really put it into words, but it's completely bareable.

Prolly watch this movie this weekend, and if I can determine if it's a ts or tc I will edit acordingly.

7 - based on the combined 10 minutes i flipped thru.
6 - not the best, not the worst, middle of the road audio
? - can't see this being a good movie, look lame but I don't have cable

horrible audio, just horrible

Posted by Vampire on 09-02-2005 10:39 PM:

The video was good, the audio was slightly above average and I personally thought the movie was terrible. It was the same generic shit recycled a thousand times over and was, therefore, very predictable. I did like the element of humour in it though (the headbutt cracked me up - not sure if it was supposed to be funny).

Based on the movement around the Dreamworks logo, I'd say it's a TS so rating it as such....

8/6/3

Thanks again Asteroids, another fine release. Sound has a strange background noise at some points and some of the darker scenes on the plane are a bit grainy, put perfectable watchable..

Just wondered if there are any bits missing as IMDB says 85 minutes and this version runs for 73?? If there are then it does not seem to make a difference to the film, I was just curious!

Keep up the good work Asteroids

nice one, but i really don't wanna get used to such an audio track..

v: 8
a:6/7
m: 7/8 really nice, kept me up.

Posted by andrews on 09-03-2005 11:53 AM:

don't know if its a TS or a TC and don't care. video is good, sound is a little quiet, but all you do is turn up the volume, there is a hiss for 2 or 3 second a few times. i think possibley there may be some missing footage as the running time is only 73 mins, imdb says 85 mins, but i didn't notice anything missing. 8/7/7

Posted by fluffinator on 09-03-2005 04:13 PM:

Ok, i watched this flick last night.

First of all, lame, short, but still boring, amazing combo really.

I'm still undecided. I did notice the quick, way to perfect to be a human, zoom at the logo.

And that's the only time there is any indication this might not be a TC.

The picture is widescreen, maybe a hair cropped off the top, but probably not.

Dark, as for the nature of telecines.

AND it includes several spots of artifacts only seen on telecines. As well as the russian title.

Sorry folks, this just can't be a TS,

The movie is complete, or complete enuff I didn't notice anything missing.

Now.... the audio, from this I can tell half of you never watched it.

The soun d has some issues during the first, oh, 10 minutes., Where theres this hissey, ruffling sound that kinda washes over the sound for a second, here and there. After about 10-15 mins it never happens again.

There are spots where the sound seems to get quite, wwhen i should be loud. I'm gonna say this was done to reduce the effect heard on alot of releases as of late.

Loud sound turns into garbled noise

Can't speak for the vcd version, but I am 100% convinced this IS in fact a TC. The little "zoom" at the logo could be just a glitch from the telecine.

IF this were a TS asteroids deserves a million dollars, as does the original "cammer" who got this and sold to asteroids on the street, or uploaded to torrents for them to dl and encode.

Very nice video, audio has a few bad hissing moments in the first 15 mins. Movie is utter crap. Films like this almost justify piracy

a8.5(cos of the MINOR glitches in first 10 mins)

Only complaint I have is the length, end credits kicked in at 1hr 13mins, apart from that and the "BUY A NOKIA AD" it's a great movie! lol

Watched a few mins ago, was an OK movie, decient quality release...

Video: 8 - Very clear, dark at times but nothing important is missed.

Audio: 6 - Sounds like it was one of those FM recordings from a drive-in. Has some hiss, and some static for a few secs in vrious parts.. Boy do I miss DTS audio..

Movie: 7 - Was good, not Wes Craven's best though...

Posted by yukichigai on 09-04-2005 11:09 AM:

Just finished watching the movie. Unfortunately I had to watch it through an AviSynth filter because it was the wrong framerate. Again, beating this into your heads until someone listens: There is no reason for a DivX/XviD encode to be at any framerate other than the one the movie was originally filmed in. This movie was filmed at 23.976fps. It has been sped up to 25fps. That's wrong.

Anyway....

Video: 7

Initially I was afraid the ghosting of the white characters on the black background didn't bode well for the rest of the film, but after about 10 minutes I caught myself completely ignoring any of the video glitches. The problems with it are subtle, but present: the aforementioned ghosting and some black level problems, which gives the film that faint "cammy" look. It has absolutely no motion blur, however, which is proof positive that it's a TC.

Audio: 7

ASTEROIDS' release of Fear and Lothing in the Chocolate Factory had the same occasional radio interference which this release has in the early parts of the film, along with a peculiar hiss. No WinXP error sounds though, which is good. As many people have reported the audio also has a strange "muffled" quality to it, where some of the middle frequencies seem to literally fall out of the film for a few seconds. It sounds like a brief bit of improper channel mix, as though the mixing of the rear, front and center channels was turned off for a second. How that would happen, I dunno, but that's what it sounds like. Also, as per, the audio has been sped up since the film has been sped up. The Chipmunk-esque effect is not lost on me.

Movie: 7

It wasn't the most amazing thing I've ever seen, but it had its moments. I laughed, I cried... well, except for the crying. Good suspense, a bit short though. At least Wes Craven is making films again. Good ones, that is.
