Exclamation Lost in Translation. Bill Murray's FIRST Oscar? It looks likely!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertai...ilm/3197137.stm

Described by one critic as the best movie he'd ever seen. Lost In Translation looks like it's going to kick some major ass.

If rumours are to be believed, Bill Murray looks likely to receive his first ever Oscar for his role in this movie.

Personally, i can't wait until Sept 19th for this movie. But guess what? Hollywood being full of dumb fucks, they released it as a Limited movie. LOL.

Hi ESOTERiC.

Hmm ... I thought the trailer looked kinda dumb. Started off well but went downhill. Oh, right ... because I hate Giovani Ribisi ... that's why.

Well, wouldn't be the first time a good movie had a bad trailer. I'll be sure to watch it when it comes my way.

Hi ESOTERiC.

....he's great with his more serious roles, Rushmore was mad cool.

Posted by The CandyMan on 09-02-2003 02:01 PM:

His best role yet had to be Carl Spackler in Caddyshack.

"What an incredible Cinderella story, this unknown comes outta no where to lead the pack, at Augusta. He's on his final hole, he's about 455 yards away - he's gonna hit about a two-iron I think. Oh he got all of that one! The crowd is standing on its feet here, the normally reserved Augusta crowd - going wild - for this young Cinderella, he's come outta no where, he's got about 350 yards left, he's gonna hit about a five-iron, don't you think? He's got a beautiful backswing - that's - Oh he got all of that one! He's gotta be pleased with that, the crowd is just on its feet here, uh - He's the Cinderella boy, uh - tears in his eyes I guess as he lines up this last shot, he's got about 195 yards left, he's got about a - its looks like he's got about an eight-iron. This crowd has gone deathly silent, the Cinderella story, outta no where, a former greenskeeper now - about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac - It's in the Hole!"

This movie looks pretty good, going to definitely check it out.

Horizonstar, what are you talking about you crazy camp Power Ranger? The trailer looks a complete masterpiece from start to finish!!

I need to see this movie bad! I've even struck up tentative talks with The Devil to sell Mystic's soul to him for which i will get a lovely DVD Screener in return!!

Okay, okay ... I watched it again. (The bizarre thing is that I can't figure out where I saw this trailer the first time ... I haven't watched TV in months, I didn't download the trailer, and I haven't been to the theatre since Pirates.) This time through I noticed that Giovani Ribisi is barely in the trailer, so that's not the reason I didn't like it; I think it must have been the "man hooks up with other man's wife" thing. You'd think I'd be happy that it was Ribisi's character's wife who was running around with this other guy ... but no.

Anyway, after putting that misgiving behind me, I did find the trailer to be pretty good. (Indeed, I wept openly.)

Here you go:

::edit:: I find it highly unlikely that Mystic's soul has not already been bartered away ...

Ok, so after all these image posts, I have confirmed my initial impression from watching the trailer that this chick is, not, in fact, hot. I think she's quite plain, actually.

I can't think of many limited movies that get released as a TS or cam. Usually you have to wait till a screener.

Side note. I go to the high school Bill Murray graduated from.

That's usually ESOTERiC's job. Most of the folks i've talked to about this movie are waiting for them to do it.

The occasional TS/CAM of a limited movie does emerge. Secondhand Lions and A Mighty Wind are recent movies that spring to mind.

Let's just keep our fingers crossed eh? Or if your lucky enough to live near a theatre playing it, GO WATCH IT! Quit waiting for the scene release.

Dude are you sure Secondhand Lions was a limited rls? I'm almost positive it wasn't a limited rls. Where I live we don't get Limited rls movies the day they open. and we got this, I was also looking on movies.com it didn't say anything about being a limited rls.

As for Lost in Translation it does look good, It's not open here though. Columbus sucks!!!

Speaking of ESOTERIC, aren't you supposed to cut your balls off or shove a hammer up your ass? Re: Washington Heights.

On the Secondhand Lions issue; yahoo, rottentomatoes, zap2it, moviecheckpoint, colossus.net, have it as a wide release. imdb, amazon, cinema, popmatters, lightsout, have it as limited.

I'm saying it went wide because Peak # of Screens 3038
Scarface is Limited with only 12 theatres

Posted by dc_man on 10-06-2003 04:12 AM:

hah, Mystic after clicking that link I love how you never included France, because your right who really cares?

Posted by Martin Q. Blank on 10-11-2003 03:15 PM:

Damn the MPAA and the screener ban! I'm wondering if this film is ever gonna make it to the net. Sadly, it doesn't come out here in Australia till boxing day, at the earliest, according to what I've read.
