decent bitrate with directors commentary and 17min of extra features. nice job replica.

Posted by DEMENTA on 11-30-2005 08:53 PM:

Nice release, and nice to have the commentary.

But does anyone know what (if any) is the difference between this, and the DVDR by Replica posted right above this one?

Seems to have an identical Nfo and all, only difference i see, is one is labeled NTSC, when the nfo states that they both are anyway. So who knows...i doubt replica would do 2 rls' of the same NTSC DVDR

Video - 10.0

Audio - 10.0

Movie - 9.0

Good release but a ton got ripped from this disc. I hope someone sets to the plate and makes a release of the cut extras.

Video - 8 (There are some very minor compression artifacts, not sure if it is Replica's fault or the source)

Sound - 10 ( Excellent job for keeping the commentary track, although I think the quality on it could have been taken down a notch to maybe include more extras. My own nitpick)

Movie - 7 (It is funny, but I noticed right after seeing it that I couldn't remember any part in the movie. No memorible lines or scenes. Very sad because this could have been a classic.)

Release - 8 (The release is pretty well done. The video has a high biterate, but the artifacts really distract from the job that could have been done here. The Sound is the best part of the release with the commentary track which is normally cut from releases. The cut of 90% of the extras is very dissapointing. It is not to have the deleted scenes, but the Retail disc is packed. It would have been nice to see Replica try to do something with those.)

The other is a dvd9 version

Nuke it.

On a movie of this type, why would someone cut the gag reel? The impact on movie quality is not even noticeable. They cut too much on this relase. I say nuke it and someone release the proper.

Loved the movie, so this was a must have for me...

V: 9 - Couldn't get any better unless off a digital reel.
A: 8 - I really hope DTS becomes a standard soon.
M: 8.5 - One of the best movies released this summer!

Awesome release, Replica...

excluding extra's in no reason to nuke...often its either DC or a few extra's... at least we got a DC. So quit your bitchin and buy it or get the DVD9 and encode it yourself

and Neomic....why are u saying you hope DTS becomes standard...there is virtually no difference between Dolby digital and DTS on a release like this. On other releases yes.

Nice release... Most points above say it all.

Video was a TOUCH weak IMO, especially in a full 16x9. But for this sort of movie, you don't need 7mbit/sec average But 132 min comedy! Didn't realize it was THAT long... Wonder if Wedding Crashers Unrated will be long too (assuming that will exist)

The absence of the DTS track put me into a state of depression, but I got over it when I realized I didn't need it haha... Long live 8 tracks!

Anyways, great release overall. Going to hold me over till I buy it.

Worth the download. Unrated? Can't think of any scenes that weren't there in the original. Looks great on my WS standalone, sounds good (but no DTS). Movie was funniest of the summer, IMHO.

9/9/9

It's 17 minutes of extra footage between the theatrical and this one. Definitely something is in there...

Ummm, did you actually see the theater release then?? There is a ton of cut, extended and altered scenes in this version. It was almost like watching a different movie. Way better IMHO, love the fact that the other characters actually had some part in this cut, and i lot of the plot points make more sense with the little parts that were cut......like him saying he went to magic camp, or that the bearded guy is a novelist, or even him getting the call while he's working making him going to her house in a suit make sense.......before making comments like this, watch both versions!

Great rip, great job Replica. the lack of extras but the hilarity of the *Unrated* editioning (English?) just confirmed my preorder of the DVD.

Extras alone sound worth the purchase, plus I'm a 'yeah I may download your movies while they're in theaters, but I end up supporting with DVD purchase' whore.

Besides, this movie hasn't even seen a release in Japanese theaters, and I doubt it will.

GJ Replica!

V: 9
A: 9
M: 9 (Vulgar, but not... juvenile American Pie vulgar... more like bitter adult vulgar. Little long, but great watch.)

Posted by deathr0w_ on 12-03-2005 10:00 AM:

great release

9/10

extras i have noticed 1. racial arguement with the paki/negro
2. flash back scenes when he attemptd to get laid more breast scenes.
3. walks into some chick and puts his hands on her hips near a roadside bookstand.

so people that can't notice the difference thats only 3 out of them all.

LOL at the flames. Please. Try not to be so common. For a release to be quality, the DVD experience should be maintained. In this type of movie, the gag reel is an essential. For those "cheap bastards" looking for movie only, great, grab the SVCD and burn it. This is a DVD release. Gags and outtakes are part of that experience. Therefore the DVD is slaughtered. Soem did release the DVD9 just for this reason. And by the way, I am buying this, as I do 95% of DVDs. Also, yes, when I buy this, I will rip/encode it mself, and release it under my group name.

Flaming on a forum is like competing in the special olympics, even if you win, you are still a retard.

also, the scene where he is on the phone with viagra talking about a 4hour long boner.....all in all, i dont think these add up to 17 minutes.... maybe it includes the deleted scenes???

Theatrical was 116 minutes, and the unrated was 132 minutes. So it's there. It's just really good and the time just flies by watching it.

Glad these kinds of extended cuts and not the "unrated 20 seconds of never before seen too hot for the theater" extra footage crap.

Posted by Jassll on 12-03-2005 08:09 PM:

Video - 8/10 - encoded, below 4,000 but still good, can't tell the difference

Audio - 10/10 - sounded great, 5.1

Movie - 5/10 - different than what I expected. It was funny and worth the watch. But, wtf is with the ending? lol

Great release Replica. Played flawlessly in my DVD player.

not to be a stickler....wouldnt that add up to 16 minutes of extra footage? Where did this mysterious 1 minute of super secret footage go to? lol

For your edification, Yes, I saw it as a preview - in a theater, but it was a week prerelease - so how many months ago?
I didn't notice any scenes in this one that would make it "unrated" that weren't in the original. (my point) Yes, some scenes were added/edited/extended, and maybe the DVD was improved over the original theatrical movie. (your point)

The movie is over 2 hours long without the credits, so the under 4000 bitrate shouldnt be a shocker... Its not noticeable with it being a comedy.

Im an advocate of getting the best bitrate for the MOVIE, so I agree with Replica in cutting the extras... I can manage to wait the couple weeks until retail is released to make my own rip if wanted... Then again, I cant remember the last time I took the time to encode my own movie just for the extras...

video-9
Best you could do on a 2 hour + movie...

Audio-10
duh... Of course the DTS freaks will dispute this. But I say again, this is a comedy - not LOTR.

movie-?
Your pick... I personally enjoyed this alot.. I am a huge Steve Carrell fan from his Daily Show days.

Why are people that enjoy movie only rips "cheap bastards"? By wanting less than the full experience makes us cheap? Wouldn't someone that wants the ENTIRE thing for free the cheap ass?

BTW< You can't just pawn off an SVCD and think it is a "movie only" rip. They do not have 720x480 nor 5.1... Completely different genre of release. Even an XViD or DiVX don't stack up.

And third, if you buy 95% of your movies, why complain and hope for a re-release with all the extras. Especially if you've already got this on shopping list to buy?

Looking forward to your rip

Like Porco says, it suffers a bit when zoomed to fill a 16x9 screen. The extras add very little to the movie experience and in this instance could have been left out.

Audio: 9
Contrary to popular opinion it isn't just loud scenes which sound better in DTS. Quiet scenes and dialogue are much clearer too.

Movie: 10
Perfect, perfect, perfect. Every character in the movie reminds me of someone I know in real life. I laughed out loud all the way through.

what a great release picture was great pity they could not have fitted on more extras but hey would rather have a great quality film than loads of extras

if you buy 95% of your movies, why complain and hope for a re-release with all the extras. Especially if you've already got this on shopping list to buy? lmao its so true.
If it wasnt for these groups. you wouldnt have your movies early and to compain about a replica release if im not mistaken they are one of the top groups with top notch releases.

Go buy it and release your reincoded version try to fit the whole retail dvd onto a 4.6 gig dvdr not 8.5-DL with out sacrificing anything.

and you call every1 flames but in actuality
you know how i know your gay?
your gonna reply back like a ßitch. when you should give it up and move on.
