Cover tracks

Well, its a new thread in the music forum so it may sink like a stone, but no point posting in General when we have this little sub page waiting to be used....

Whats your favorite cover songs?

I really like bands running off live versions of other bands materials, giving it their own touch. That, along with modern bands redoing older tracks.

The Radio 1 Live Lounge album has just been released and has some pretty good tracks:

The Kooks - Crazy (Gnarls Barklay)
Artic Monkeys - Love Machine (Girls aloud, maybe?)
Keane - U2's "With or without you"

Top track at the moment has got to be Willis covering Cameo's Word Up. Great version, along with Dave Grohl acoustic version of Tiny Dancer

I remember a mate of mine told me Placebo did a Kate Bush cover, anybody know how that turned out?

Anyway, post your suggestions of great cover versions!

I enjoy listening to covers but only when the band decide to add their own twist to the song and not just record an almost exact version. One of my personal favourites is Metallica - Whiskey In The Jar. They really nailed the feel of the song but added their own raw edge to it.

edit: also thought that Frijid Pink's version of "House Of The Rising Sun" was great as well.
