Poll About VCDQuality.COM Radio

Hello, The Staff at VCDQuality.com would like you all to vote on whether or not you think its a GOOD or BAD idea for US to run a RADIO station. The radio station would be online and would be run by people from the staff as DJ'S or other people who apply and know what they are doing. Well This is still in the suggestion stages so please post your suggestions and answer the Poll. Hopefully this goes well as I and probably more then 50% of you get bored just sitting there on efnet and would like a MORE lively channel and something to listen to. The RADIO station would play all different kinds of music, take requests, and put out shoutouts. Hopefully if this goes well, and we get alot of listeners, we could even sell ads. Well just vote and put your suggestions if you got any or if you think the idea is good or just flat out stupid. Thank You.

-VCDQ Staff

Edit: For all you wondering about bandwidth and stuff, its all covered. I found a sponsor that runs a game server business. 150ppl max to start and w/e bitrate we could use. Thanx goes out to http://www.efrags.com so that is not a problem anymore.

yea the only thing I could think about is the whole bandwidth issue. Where is the station going to be hosted from and did you think about how much bandwidth will be used. You look up numbers, and then get back to us.

Great idea in theory. Bad idea in practice.

1. Bandwidth = MAJOR nightmare possibility waiting to happen.

2. RIAA = New legislation for fee's on webcasting = Mega Bucks to shell out.

It's a great idea, but the second you go live those nasty, smelly, greasy, sweaty RIAA and ITPI mofo's will be punching your face in with mega knuckledusters before you can say Jack Robinson.

Shame.

p.s: If the idea does come to some sort of fruition, stick my name down for a DJ slot possibility (i'm a DJ and producer/writer)

hehe same as everyone else said..sounds good..bandwith would be bad..but i could probly DJ that shit too

Posted by rappa on 12-04-2002 02:34 AM:

RIAA? I know of about 20 radio stations and none have had a problem with this. I doubt we will. Other then that, I might have a server to host it, i just need to setup shoutcast through shell to test to see how many listeners we can use max for it, the khz etc. Ill get back to you, i doubt a host will be hard to find, we could probably get a sponsor.

128k minimum or it sucks

nothing worse than a mono,8bit station that sounds the same on a 56k as it does on a 2mbit+ cable

So, you want to direct more attention to you guys and the vcd scene. You already have a website, a channel, now a radio station? Whats next, a 0day website where we can download the VCD's?

I wouldnt want too much attention looking upon us especially when we are downloading illegal movies.

Not a good idea.

ummm last I saw, we don't provide links to pirated movies. those who only admit to downloading movies are the only ones who really could be in danger, and what makes you think this site is not monitored already, hell MSNBC had a screencap of our movie listings. Next time, think before you speak, we do not provide an illegal service. We are only a new site that lists what is out there. Would a site reporting any other crimes make them illegal? And about publicity, those who need to know about us already do, and those who don't won't know about the station due to it only being on our site. It is not an actual radio station, you would have to know about the site in the first place and maybe a couple people spread the link, so what.

I, for one, would like to point out that I would never under any circumstances download a movie. I only come to this site to read the intelligent conversation in the COMMENTS section.

The only problem I see with a VCDQ radio station is that I'm afraid you guys would let Rappa use it. I can only imagine what hearing his squeeky voice would do to my head. I'd probably kill somebody. (issa joke, rappa....chill).

well what genre[s] of music would be played?

Posted by 404notfound on 12-05-2002 05:38 PM:

Hmm.... I'm not sure we need Pho playing his latest Ronan Keating and Nsync records anywhere but the privacy of his own room but hey if you can pull it off i think a radio show is kinda cool!

Go for it!!

it would depend on the person "DJ"-ing at the time. We all have different taste like, rappa is for rap, pHo is all for NKOTB and what not, while someone like I, prefers Hair Metal, \m/ o_o \m/

BW = no problem. We have four high-bandwidth servers with 2000GB/month transfer limits that are barely being used. Another radio we sponsor on gamesnet is the 5th largest channel overall and peak at over 120 users (listeners) a day. They've alone used up 130GB since Monday but we're hosting them without problems. They've got DJs 24/7 which I don't know if vcdquality will do (it's 2AM and nobody has said a word in the last 15 minutes) so BW usage should be even less.

Thumbs up

Yeah, bring it on!!!!
