well.... not seen the cam version.... but this seems ok
played on standalone.... only skipped through not watched yet, and looks good to me/
not the best ive ever seen, but very watchable, and great for the uk peeps who aint getting a release till the 29th.

When I picked up the sample for this I thought it might be the same source as Baphs' copy. Both are cropped badly, and sound the same.

It’s the same source as the BaPH cam, and SVCD for a cam? Come on now. And anyone who thinks this is a good movie really needs to see the original or read the book. I’m personally a very huge Tim Burton fan, but I must say...this time he seriously disappointed me. But then again, some things just should NEVER be remade because the original is perfect already. And Johnny Depp was a HORRIBLE Willy Wonka. Gene Wilder played the perfect roll as a slightly insane and scary Wonka, Depp on the other hand acted like he was a 6 year old in a mans body...total disgrace.
Anyway 6 (cropped horribly)/8/-10000 WHY TIM WHY!!!!!! (not to mention it was just fine as a VCD)

I also have suspiciouns It’s the same source as the BaPH cam release.
They both start at exactly the same point.
The re-encoding wasn' t very improving either.

This is identical to the BaPH release just reencoded into mpeg2 format instead of mpeg1 like the BaPH so i give it a 4/4/7

Ok, so I viewed the sample and then decided to download the whole release. It was very apparent that the source of this and the CAM were the same as most of you all know already. The audio was out of sync if you pay close attention and there's a lil bit of blockiness but it's watchable. I've also heard that there's a few scenes missing. So if anyone can find out, I'd appreciate it. Overall, it's watchable but I'd wait for a better release.

and i find it hard to believe people are whinging after everything that has happened lately.

dont like it? to cropped go to the THEATRE and watch it then these guys are just giving you an alternative.

umm, don't bother with this, it seems to be the same source as the cam but, amazingly, lower quality.

I'd almost say it's a re-encode of the cam that was encoded to maybe xvid then to SVCD or something.

Picture does get clearer on a standalone, but I'd stick with the cam for now.

Cropping aside, can anyone clarify if there are scenes actually missing? I haven't made it thru all or either copy, and won't even bother.

If you are desperate, and can't find the BaPH release this one is watchable.

Video - 5 -- Cropped to all hell, most of the people's faces are cut off in any semblance of a closeup. Colors are slightly washed out, motion is a tiny bit blurred (on my TV -- was VERY blurred on my PC), a little grainy.

Audio - 5 -- Poor audio source. Anything remotely loud is unintelligable, ie the Oompa Loompa songs. Anything really quiet is also unintelligable.

Movie - 7 -- Much truer to the book, but I'm pissed about Tim Burton's craptastic tunnel scene and I'm not so sure about Johnny Depp.

IMHO, wait for another release -- this one ain't worth the bandwidth.

if it wasnt for the cropping id give the video a 8 but this does have some serious cropping to the lower half and sides.
a good way to explain how cropped is if the frame is of a adult standing next to a child you will only see the childs forehead and nothing below that.
if your a serious J.D fan or burton fan save your bandwidth for a better release
