w00p...

doesnt this film remind you of feardotcom?... The whole video internet thing?

Posted by Xiphi on 02-20-2003 01:15 PM:

ah well finally i can watch this..

i didnt think it was worth downloading a screener of this..

Posted by metaLmusiC on 02-20-2003 01:48 PM:

i know judging jpgs are lame but this is called for,
the jpg of this looks very very simlar to the video of vite's xvid
if this has a screener message on it which it shouldnt since its a "dvd rip" then this is more then likely just a encode of the xvid...
or the same source but if thats the case there was no reason to release this..i encoded vites xvid a bit ago

no it doesnt.
since this is a remake of a japanese blockbuster made in the
year 1998.
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0178868
so the right way to say it would be doesnt feardotcom remind you
of the original RINGU (1998)?
also i gotta say that the original is way scarier. also the second part RINGU 2 is much scarier. but i guess the hollywood studios
thought it would be more sensefull to put up a remake- since the original in japan was one of the most successful movies over there.
having one sequel (ringu 2) and one prequel (ringu 0 /2000)
also a tv-series was made and a very successful comic adaption also exists.
so....no it doesnt remind me of feardotcom...

Posted by Ultima-Dragon on 02-20-2003 02:46 PM:

if anything at all, feardotcom would have "ripped off" the concept of "watch now, die later" concept from the original Ring

ditto.

featdotcom was such an awful piece of crap.
the ring is a great movie, one of my personal fave horror flicks.

the sample would look like vites xvid also...not all samples will have the "promo" messages in it if there's even one in this one.
but i'm not going to bother with the sample as i said before vite's was fine for me

DVD's tend to look similar, the retail is due in two weeks so it's not surprise that a retail is available now.

Posted by Air1 on 02-20-2003 09:39 PM:

downloaded/burnt/watching as we speak. very nice rls. not the best dvdrip in svcd form, but more than watchable.

9/9/9

Posted by Ibegoat on 02-20-2003 10:15 PM:

There is no way in hell that this is from a DVD source, just look at the sample... it a xvid or divx reencode, it may not be from vite? or whoever released the DVD SCR, but it is not from the DVD. This needs to be NUKED! Anyone who can't tell this is a reencode of some sort is retarded

If it is a re-encode wouldn't it still be from a DVD source?
Although I have not seen the sample I dont think flix is the type of group that would re-encode. Seems as though they have legitamate sources. But ya never know I guess.

I meant they didn't rip this off the original DVD... I am thinking they used DEiTY's XVID.. wouldn't PosTX have released the divx if they had the real DVD?

no self respecting group recodes to SVCD from anything.. let alone Xvid. gross.. talk about a waste of time. do you have any idea how much of a pain in the ass that would be?

aye guy so you watched this release all the way through? if so did it have promo messages aka screener messages?

Posted by Vtec on 02-21-2003 08:34 PM:

Or they could have done a 2 pass rip to win the race? who knows ::shrug::

Posted by flipp0r on 02-21-2003 09:18 PM:

yeah watched the whole thing, and no there's no
scr watermark, ticker, b&w frames, studio tags.
it's a retail dvd not a recode :P

6 and 15

Did anyone notice at the begining of the movie at 6 seconds and 15 seconds it messes up a little bit?

Posted by JoshNya on 02-22-2003 08:19 AM:

Ya looks like a low level 2-3 pass rip. Oh well....

Posted by daytrade on 02-22-2003 08:40 AM:

For those that have seen the dvd screener, is this release better or worse? Don't wanna waste the time to get this if the screener is better quality.

The screener is better quality, FLiX didn't take the time to produce a quality rip. Major movies get raced to release which is why some groups take short cuts.

you must have got the wrong release cause i got this release and mine is

cd1 = 58:05
cd2 = 57:17

hehe.. I believe this is done with intention by the director/producers

The same "mess up" appears on the dvd scr by TDi
(and there was someone who mentioned the same "problem" in the comments section of that rsl)

Because the movie is about a VHS tape.. these distortions can happen or whatever.

Software DVD players are stupid like that. they assume like 45 mins to a CD or whatever you can fit on an SVCD @ 2520 kbps (I forget). Just today I burned one of my own dvd rips and since it was overburned, WinDVD figured that the disc was 7 hours and 7 mins long. :P
