watched today, its was amazing!

8/8/10000!!

they should have 2cd it though, i hope some other group does

Posted by Yoshitaka Amano on 09-13-2005 07:38 AM:

no eng subs included...

Get Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.[Trans by Jasconius - Subs fixed by Generation-Video.fr.st] FINAL
these are the final edit of the original eng subs translated by Jasconius. The original had really long sentences and still had the /n thing in the subs, and still had a line of japanese characters in it.
I think BiEN did a really nice job with this one! I dont know how they managed to keep this one cd and not have it be pixilized to hell and back.
9/9/99999999999999999999999

::EDIT:: Bit regarding WHERE to download the movie removed... DON'T DO THAT!! - NS::
and yes its that good.

No scene group will because of the scene rules! Your best bet is to either find MiNY's version off some FTP or Usenet. Or easier, get it from eDonkey It has a decent bit rate of about 1700 Kbps. Nice.

http://imdb.com/title/tt0385700/ - 90 minutes. To be considered for 2CD rip on the scene it must be longer than 109 minutes or something.

Anyway, even though this movie is pretty good quality as it is I'm going to get the excellent quality MiNY rip

7/7/9

Considering this is 1 CD the rip is amazing, but if you thought that was good, check out the proper DVD. Oh my god!

Posted by dantezor on 09-13-2005 09:42 PM:

10/9/10 nice movie, amaezing ending.

The best in animation of late years.

Posted by MyNameIsAnakin on 09-14-2005 12:05 AM:

I've been waiting a good 3 years waiting for this, now the wait is over.

Came home and saw it, clicked it, got it.

Took me a long bloody time to get them subtitles to work, they work great with Media Player Classic.

Oh god. This is the best movie. I;m rating it a 10 here and a 10 on IMDB!

9/9/10

Make sure the grab a copy of the DVDR ASAP.

I had a feeling the movie wouldn't make my expectations... Boy, I was wrong to even think about it.

The video and audio are what I would expect from a 1CD rip if not better.
9/9/10 (+infinite)

The movie satisfied my FF VII needs and gave me new things to ponder about.
The CGI is amazing, the story is awesome and it gives that Final Fantasy feeling.
Especially when the party is re-united, Aeris, Zack,... I want more Final Fantasy now!!

Posted by Sniper1935 on 09-14-2005 03:22 AM:

Video - 8 - I say screw the scene rules when it comes to movies like this one! This truely deserves a 2CD rip with full on 5.1 DolbyD! Still, for this release it's very nice in some places, just a little fuzzy looking in others which I guess is due to a soft encoding matrix!?

Audio - 8 - 2Ch MP3 audio, need's 5.1 DolbyD but still very clear and nice sounding!

Movie - 100 - omg!

Posted by chiv on 09-14-2005 07:12 AM:

a great flick to be sure, i dont regret wasting the extra bandwidth downloading the 2cd ac3 version, thats for sure... its a pity that once this film reaches america, the critics will probably maul it because they didn't understand what was going on, and because its japanese made, not american made... but who cares what they say, this was a hell of a film, and i look forward to buying the dvd later this year.

6/8/8 poor video, decent sound. Overall very dissapointed with this release. Why anyone would want to shrink such a great movie down to 700MB is just plain stupid.

Film was alright and the animation was amazing, 11 minutes of credits though!

Posted by creamfan on 09-15-2005 12:54 PM:

Is this the sequel to Final Fantasy: Spirits Within???

::EDIT:: No, it's the sequel to the Playstation game: FF VII (honest!) - NS::

Posted by Vorph on 09-15-2005 06:42 PM:

Bien's video was average at best, and the audio wasn't bad for 2ch crap. The scene rules really ruined this release, no doubt about it.

Definitely go with the 2CD internal xvid or one of the dvd-r's if you really want to see this movie in all its glory.

The movie itself was excellent from a technical standpoint, which makes me really bitter that it will not be shown in US theaters. The story itself was so-so; it is far too focused on Cloud and his annoying emo-kid personality, some of the fights drag on for too long, and the music doesn't alway fit the scene and changes from eletric guitar to operatic to classical at the drop of a hat for some unknown reason. None of that matters though, if the question is "should I watch this?" Unless you have no interest at all in CGI, the movie is very impressive and well worth the 4.3GB DL for the dvd-r version.

Posted by chiv on 09-15-2005 09:45 PM:

in regards to the music... each to their own, and all, but i thought the music throughout was no only great, but was perfect for the movie - sometimes it really helped the drive forward the action (ie the freeway sequence) and at other times it helped create a wonderful contrast (like the classical music during the abandoned church fight)

i think it was a great approach to take, by mixing up the music genres and sequences - it makes for quite a unique experience compared to the usual way most films handle music and action, maybe thats why i enjoyed the musical choices so much.

but as i said, everyone has their own preferences i guess

Posted by Vorph on 09-15-2005 09:58 PM:

The music was really good for sure, it's just the transitions that were sometimes awkward, and there was one or two scenes where I remember thinking that the music didn't fit what was happening on-screen.

Posted by Tetsu on 09-16-2005 01:22 PM:

I know that the dvd-r version has better quality but to give this release a 6 for video is just stupid. You are suppose to grade it based on what it is and for an xvid the quality is very superb, it is definatly far better quality than a 6. And as far as the bitching of "why did they make it 700mb" not everyone has a dvd burner me being one of them, but I do have a cd burner and I have made quite a few high quality Ksvcd's and if it werent for people like bien making 700mb movies many people wouldn't be able to enjoy the movies on there TV. anyways, the video is very good and the audio is awesome as well.

They did use a soft quantization type. It was H263.

Release groups don't normally use soft custom matrices, they either use H263 or MPEG -- H263 being soft/losing detail/smoothing it out and normal MPEG being sharp/keeping detail/blocking.

So really, release groups only have two options on what quant. type they're going to use.

On an interesting note they did use bframes (2). That would've helped massively with compressibility.

This is a Squaresoft trademark -- longwinded credits. I personally don't mind it, it gives time to reflect/absorb what just happened

Does everyone know that some of the animation is unchanged from the CGI you see in FFVII PSX game? If you think those are good keep in mind it's animation 7-8 years old and what's more it's from a PSX game.

Uh... could you specify what scenes were from the game? There definately weren't any. Some may have been redone, but there were no scenes directly from the PSX game.

Kinda wish there were a seperate AC3 file I could get on my own.. bah. :P

Definately made my expectations -- 9/9/10

Yes, when it shows Jenova/Mother's head, also the scenes with Sephiroth moving into the fire. If they were "redone" then my bad, they look pretty much the same anyway.

(I've played the game right through a few times, note, but I might have an exaggerated "recollection" of the scenes, since I enjoyed the game quite a lot back n the day)

There are rips out which have the AC3 intact (which I might add happens all the time, with every release, other known groups will release a 2CD AC3 version), such as the MiNY version. I watched that one, quality is what you'd expect from an encode with 1650 kbps + for video and the 6CH sound.

ps - I don't know of any special places to get the non-scene-standard-but-brilliant-rips, but they're not difficult to find in easily publically accessible places.

Get a dvd burner lamer. I pity the fool who cant afford such a cheap piece of equipment
It is a definete crime to release this movie with such poor video quality.

I dunno why people are rating this movie so high. Yeah it was a lot of fancy CG, but it was just so ridiculous and mediocre. Half of all the fights were in mid-air for crying out loud! I'm not so thick that something like that would normally bother me, but it was just too much.

Did you play the game? You know, what the movie was based on? If you didn't, your opinion is pretty much nothing.

And are you seriously complaining about realism? Go shove it, it's a movie ffs.
