Josh Hartnett as new Superman-Say It isn't so
Going back to my other thread of who would be the best to play Lois opposite Clark Kent as Supes..Apparently we have a new contender as the Man of Steel, and its Josh Hartnett from Pearl Harbor and 40 Days and 40 Nights.
Here is the story:
The Hollywood Reporter says that Josh Hartnett has emerged as the top contender to star in Warner Bros. Pictures' Superman franchise for director Brett Ratner.
The actor screen tested Tuesday, and the trade says Warners president and chief operating officer Alan Horn, production president Jeff Robinov and Ratner were supposed to watch the tape Wednesday night in New York.
No word has come down on the outcome of the reported viewing, but Hartnett's looks and acting ability are said to not be factors as to whether he'd star as the caped crusader. Rather, the negotiation of the deal and the commitment to doing three consecutive features are said to be bigger issues. No other actors are expected to test for the role until an outcome for Hartnett is resolved.
Can you guys tell me of a Better actor to play Man of Steel??
also Doesn't Hollywood Reporter realize its Man of Steel and not Caped Crusader, what a bunch of dorks.. Caped Crusader is The Hulk, No I meant the Green Lantern, No No I meant Captain America...No No..DUHHHHHHHHH Its Batman!!!

Josh Harnett would be much more suited to play Gambit from Xmen. First it's Nicholas Cage, then Brandon Fraser and now Josh Harnett? All stupid picks if you ask me.
Eh, I don't mind Hartnet all that much. I think he's a decent actor (compared to his peers). He just doesn't scream, "Superman" to me though. They could do worse....
-K
I heard it was going to be Vinny from Home & Away.
i heard that Josh Harnett dropped out like a few weeks ago...
if i were to choose a new superman... it'd be no one... because i think that no one can pull off what Christopher Reeve pulled off. HE was the ULTIMATE superman
but with our luck... Ben Affleck will get the part.
Josh Hartnett would be good if it were a teen movie, and there was no acting involved, and he just stood there, and the bad guys did the right thing, but since superman isn't a teen movie... i saw a big no torwards that

The problem with Dean Cain is that he has allready played Supes. The movie would probably not do good because everyone would think it's the Lois and Clark show. Which got canceled.
what about jerry O connel.. am i the only one that thinks he would make a good superman? .. i dunno he has the muscular build.. and also has the dorkiness thats needed for clark kent.. i think hed make a good superman

He is lean and would have too bulk up. But Hollywood will inject some steroids into his system. He is a possiblity. Would have to change his hair color too.
Like the previous post, the dude from smallville should the next superman.
i dunno for some reason i kinda want superman to be a no namer.
by the way who is the screen writer for this movie?
tom whellen from smallville does a great clark kent but can he pull off SUPERMAN
what about Joshua Jackson {if he got in better shape like toby did for Spiderman}
or Jake Gyllenhaal from Bubble Boy and October Sky

If I had to choose a new Superman--it would probably be one of three people.
3--Brad Pitt
2--Matt Damon
1-- would probably have to be Leonardo DiCaprio...yes shoot me down..Kill Me...I said it. Leo would make a good supes.

I'd have to go with an unknown as well. Put someone like Pitt or DiCaprio in and it makes it that much harder to suspend disbelief, which I believe is essential to a superhero movie. With Supermans face fully exposed all the time I would always have it in my mind that it's someone playing Superman and not someone being Superman. Wasn't that why they chose Christopher Reeve in the first movie?
My hopes for this flick aren't that high anyway. A re-telling of the origin of Superman directed by Brett Ratner? Thats the best Warner Bros can do? They should have stuck with Wolfgang Peterson....
Brendon Fraser
See subject
Josh Harnett out Paul Walker in as Superman!?
Apparantly noone wants to sign the 3 movie deal to play Superman. I guess they fear to be type casted. I actually thought Brandon Fraser could do a good job as Superman. And I'm not talking about the gay looking Fraser from Blast From The Past and Bedazzled but the one from The Mummy series . But this is what I got off of Darkhorizons.com .
Wacky Superman Rumour of the Day: Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No. It's a contract that nobody wants to sign. Josh Hartnett is (apparently) out. Confirmed almost everywhere. Paul Walker - maybe he's in. Actually, I hope Paul Walker is the next Superman. I interviewed him once and he's a cool guy - but he might look a bit crazy with dark hair, especially if they put that bizarro blue stripe in it you see in the comics! What is WITH that? Thanks to Shannon.
I think if they want Paul Walker as Superman. Then it's probably a done deal. What else he's got? Joyride 2 or Fast and the Furious 3?
if they cast brendan frasier as superman ill assasinate him

Dude, Brandon Fraser ain't that bad. Did you know Bill Murray was actually sought after to play Batman before Michael Keaton got the job. I'm serious and not making that up. Sometimes surprises do happen. But I seriously doubt Paul Walker could make a good Superman. Too short, too skinny, and no dark hair. Somehow if he wears a wig. It won't look right.
read in paper that david boreanz "angel" got the deal to play superman.
i heard keanu reeves was a hot pic, with thingy out of silence of the lambs as his dad..cant remeber his name, gone blank..lecter/cannible chap. anthony hopkins(or is it hoskins?or is that bob) anyway, thtas what ifve heard.

viggo mortensen!
actually, I've always thought the guy who played Darien Lambert on Time Trax would make a good Superman, but he probly couldn't do the dorkiness bit.
what about Wil Wheaton?
this sucks why this guy.. Josh Hartnett..go back somewhere else and play a william shakespear role i dont wanna see him in a comic book movie.
good superman would be joe millionaire
