-- Review: (2003) The Matrix Reloaded (http://www.vcdhq.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=17296)

Review: (2003) The Matrix Reloaded with Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss

A few years back a small little movie changed the face of action entertainment in a little film called "The Matrix". Many of the action films today, relied on the fighting style of The Matrix, making super stars of Keanu Reeves (Neo), Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus), and Carrie Ann Moss (Trinity), and Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith).

Passions collide in this sequel to the blockbuster movie, with The Matrix:Reloaded, as both Neo and Trinity help try and save an impending diasaster from Zion being discovered and its inhabitants destroyed from 250,000 probes, and if you have seen the first film, you'd realize its not a pretty sight.

Agent Smith still continues to pursue Neo relentlessly putting an end to all that is human, in some of the best, and yes I do mean the best scenes I have seen in Cineman History.

I have swore to the producers I will not give more of the plot away but the love scenes between Neo and Trinity are hot and heavy, and the action is enough to blow u out of the theatre.

I am not a huge fan of The Matrix, but Reloaded has certainly made me a believer. As the martial arts sequences alone make the movie worth seeing.

The Matrix Reloaded is very violent, one problem I had with the movie though, is its Lord of The Ring:Fellowship of The Ring ending, it can't do that, even though the end gives a general idea of what to expect from The Matrix Revolutions which hits theatres in November 2003.

This movie has a great cast, along for the 4 stars, you have Jada Pinkett Smith, and Monica Belluchi just to mention a few.

The Matrix Reloaded has yet to be rated, but personally i would give it an R rating. Not a film to take the kids to see.

The Matrix Reloaded hits theatres on May 15th.

And it gets a 10 out of 10.

How well does it to in keeping some originality? Or is it all the same as the first one?

Posted by MovieGod on 04-01-2003 01:20 AM:

it um.. sticks with the orignal...but improves on the effects 100X from the first.

tell me who you are to jump in the middle of my question to someone else. relax, if i wanted you to respond, i'd have mentioned you...all i did was ask MovieGod something. Its nice of you to try to defed him or whatever, but i'm not even attacking really. a long time ago, a similar thing happened. I haven't been around the VcdQuality boards a lot lately, but stopped by in the Reviews section to find this. I thought i should go ahead and just make sure that he really saw it, because the answer to that question wouldn't be too hard to come up with for someone who saw the movie. i didn't see it, but my buddy told me about that scene and what led into it (among other things) when i asked him about different parts i'd seen in the trailer.

good answer, but i was going more for the- what right does he have to interject in my question to another person. Mods have certain rights, but not always the right to bump into someone's convo. i guess its not a conversation though, because its been a long time since i wrote that post, and MovieGod has yet to respond...

Posted by napalmfuzz on 04-24-2003 08:20 AM:

no doubt there hasnt been a response to your question because MG does what he does for this board (which he is also a mod of) as a free service... if you disagree or if you have a problem with what he does... dont read it.. noone owes you any kind of explanation of anything..

If no one owes me an explanation, then why'd you just try to make one? look...all i'm saying is that i didn't believe that he saw the movie and just wanted him to prove it to me so i can take his reviews somewhat seriously. i'm just skeptical when people on interet forums review movies that haven't even premiered yet. and you can't argue that that's irrational. all i ever see in the reviews is plot, common knowledge, and a score. so, it was personal request to MovieGod to just prove it to me since i'm so skeptical. i guess that was too much to ask for though, because i haven't seen him reply yet. i hope he does though.

Posted by napalmfuzz on 04-24-2003 08:50 AM:

like i said... you either like his reviews.. or you dont read them... and i strongly reccomend you let it drop at that

Dang dude , i wouldnt argue with a mod, thats suicide , especially with napalmfuzz. Thats worse then standing on a freeway during rush hour.

“You always said never get on the freeway,” Trinity reminds Morpheus as they race up the entrance ramp. “You said it was suicide.” Morpheus grins. “Let us hope that I was wrong.”

There are some old Jet Li movies that have some of those "matrix" style fighting scenes...1993 Fong Sai Yuk (The Legend) If you haven't seen that or it sequel I suggest seeing it. great fighting scenes in those movies.

For the past eight years I have been a movie critic here in Hawaii, I have reviewed and seen almost every movie imaginable. I have seen more movies than you can imagine, and yes I have seen this movie a while back.

As for the other newbie who tried to call me out in other thread. You have to understand, as a critic who gets to screen these movie earlier than most. I live at the theatre where I get to pre screen a lot of these releases.

Also if you understand something, if you have a lot of money and make the right connections, most of these "Hollywood" films are screened by members of the Screen Actors Guild, Directors Guild and so forth.. And if you happen to be friends with this group, you get a lot of pre released screenings.

Movie critics are allowed to post their comments and thoughts, but many pre leased films, they are not allowed to give in detail, "spoilers" of the film, for the studios will cut their privilleges off.

Since I have been doing this as a service for a number of years, I continue to get "free screenings" and I report on them as I see fit.

As the movie gets closer to release, I sometimes give a second review, but from my first review, I usually never have anything to add, because I stand by what I rate the film, a lot of people prefer it that way.

Like most critics if you do not like what you read, that is fine, your option, you are allowed to critize, but never knock something you will never understand, unless you were in my shoes.

I do this as a courtesy to vcdquality, and I appreciate the spot they gave me.

Thank You for your support.

You're welcome

MG I just want you to know I always appreciate your reviews. Well actually that's only half true. 9/10 movies you review I dont' give a rats ass about, but that's because I dont' give a rats ass about 99.9% of the movies hollywood produces

Smile

Sorry Moviegod if you think I was critizing your review(s). I appreciate the review(s). I was just throwing in a suggestion for other people that if they like the Matrix movies they may like those also. I mean hell I can easily see you know what you are talking about and reading your review(s) and others can save me time on downloading them.

Posted by cccmmm on 04-30-2003 04:15 AM:

okay. that's nice. thx for the kind and polite reply. you just didn't respond to what i asked you to say. that would just prove that you saw the movie, and end this debate once and for all. lol, i actually want to believe you, and i'm not lying. but i just need something to go on.

I know if i don't like something, i can just turn my head. that takes only common sense to realize though. don't treat me like a child by simply giving me the take-it-or-leave-it routine. All i ever see in your synopses, excuse me, reviews is plot summary. that's basically what leads me to believe you haven't seen many of the movies you've posted reviews for. i'm willing to be proven wrong. but when i ask what i ask a question that has, what i know is, a spoiler free answer and you don't respond to it....how do u think it makes me react?

Posted by MovieGod on 04-30-2003 07:39 AM:

Its obvious you wont take no for an answer, the question you asked about Agent Smith, sides the fact he is no longer working for the machines and is a "free agent" obsessed with killing Neo. In fact if you count the number of Agent Smiths in the movie, it adds up to an even 100.

I can tell you that Persephone (Monica Belluchi's) character is practically in about as many scenes as Trinity, Carrie Ann Moss, but toward the end of the movie, she uh, lets just say don't expect her to be in Matrix Revolutions coming in November all that much.

--Morpheous is now General Morhepus, since he found Neo at the end of the first movie, is one of the lead generals in the anti machine army.

--Neo is all powerful in this film. He can fly, can stop bullets, and he kills Agent Smith repeatedly in this movie

Dude, that is all I can say, you can believe what you want. But when I tell studios and the group I belong to I will not give a full review of a film, I give my word.

You question is a new win situation and I wont jump into a character debate with you, if I have seen a movie or not. Obviously the nights I spend watching these films have been for naught, and the freebie movies I watch at the theatres have been a joke according to you. So once again I am stuck between a rock and a hard place.

As movie is released I give more detailed plot summaries, which is not a review to you, but what a review is which i have done for eight years, I must be doing something wrong.

Again you are under no obligations to read my review, but to have you make a comment on it.

Spoiler:
The Matrix Reloaded will end during a major chase scene with the machines and Morpheus, Neo, and Trinity (whose dreams play a mjor impact on the movie).

That was my biggest problem with this movie.

Whatever...i guess you're sort of right that I won't take no for an answer lol. even in that reply you posted that was attempting to answer my question, you didn't specify anything that someone couldn't know. i knew everything that you said, and i don't claim to have seen it. When you started to talk about the agent smith being a "free agent" out to kill neo (that's already common knowledge i think) you switched right off onto another fact: that there are exactly 100 agent smiths. most people know that simply from promotional things.
And you reveal that neo flies and stops bullets in the movie as if it weren't in every single trailer for the movie to date. I already knew that the 25 minute car chase was the climax of the movie. I also already knew that Morpheus was now a General and i'd heard that the Persephone character is in much of the movie. I suppose that I was just looking for something more spefic.

okay, i've got it. how about this. just describe the very first scene in the movie. what it opens up with. no spoilers required. then when the movie comes out and everyone goes to see it, it'll be proved or disproved. that seems like a fair way to do it. (i hope none of what i've said has come off as harsh sounding, because its not intended to sound that way at all).

listen cccmmm... did you not hear me when i said drop it? the server space isnt for you to waste by asking someone who owes you NOTHING to prove something to you.. im not gonna close the thread.. i leave that up to MG.. but i STRONGLY suggest you let that be your last post on this subject.. i told you to drop it and youve continued.. now this is your last warning... DROP IT!

listen bud, you're the only one flying off the hook here. i admit that some things i've said to MG may have been disrespectful in nature, but i'm being very civil about it. and even his reply wasn't an angry one. its nice that you're trying to defend MovieGod or whatever you're doing, but I'm sure that he can fight his own battles...and this isn't even really a fight.

You are making this a fight, dude. Under legal obligation, I gave you more than I was suppose to..

I have supplied my credentials on more than one occasion. I had seen this movie, as a directors cut release about 3 months ago, nothing more nothing less. You are entitled to your own opinion. Because this site is under scrutiny, I will say this bluntly, I cannot give you more than I have. And a lot of this info I have supplied is NOT common knowledge.

I don't know who you are, perhaps someone working for Warner trying to deduce my true identity.

I have been nice up to this point, and I choose to remain that way. I did not see your question, I gave as much info as possible without giving away the plot of the movie. I should not even have supplied the small spoiler ending.

To avoid a flame war, which i believe you are trying to start. I am unfortunately going to close this thread.

As a mod I am open to your PM's, if you wanted to know something you could have asked me. Not that I would have told you, but it beats trying to start a flame.

and oh btw, Agent Smith being a "free agent" was something from the movie, and something that has not been published to my knowledge.

and plus the sexual fantasies Trinity has with Neo are soo steamy, even u would sweat.
