the story line sounded kinda fun.

well at least flair told the truth about rls, just horrible picture don't even know how to describe it. lines, blending like crazy on colors and people and that sorth of thing. something for a colector.

I never seen this movie but its been 8 years since it came out, so why do u want the workprint?

Posted by frenetic on 08-11-2004 05:01 AM:

mmm trying to get a hold of a sample, anyone know how much effect the extra footage has on the movie? i never really liked the original.. this might be fun though

[EDIT: got ahold of a sample - this looks like ASS - no joke, i don't think i've seen worse quality. i'd say 3/4/8 - get it if you want the extra scenes :X otherwise don't even click any reference to it]

because its one of the most controversial movies ever made due to the entire mystique surrounding brandon lee's death on april fools day, an electrician fusing his eyes shut in a freak accident, some on-set technician going crazy and running through a few of the sets. i think this is awesome, assuming the added footage wasn't included on the DVD nor is planned for a future anniversay/special edition DVD release.

like they said, its for the collectors - and this particular movie has a rather large cult following... i can remember watching this in the theatre. it had a GREAT soundtrack, as well. timeless movie.

Posted by tr1pp1n on 08-11-2004 05:37 AM:

edit: [sorry pho... I just viewed the sample for the hell of it, im sure many people will be after this] but, man its soo easy to get your hands on these workprints from older movies (hackers, braveheart, the mask, ect...), just google it ive had this and many others for a while, their are tons of websites devoted to the trading of these vhs tapes, of workprints, rare letterboxed versions, ect... dont personally believe its warented but hey... whatever floats your boat

anyways nice try flair... not gonna pick this up though
edit 2x: i dont see how the guys post below mine about my political opinions has shit to do with the release? Im waiting for an edit on that....

Posted by PSX23 on 08-11-2004 10:37 AM:

If they could have got hold of a decent copy then i`d be impressed. As it stands this ones really poor.

Posted by bcool2k on 08-11-2004 12:23 PM:

Um.. I thought this rls was a joke, but alas the Joke is on US.. thanx but I'll stick with my DVD Dir Cut with a signed Copy by James Barr.. I got at the DragonCon last yr.. that comes with a previous unavailable commentary track...that was ripped from the Universal Retail DVD.. Movie Ownz..this Rip..Useless.. thanx, but i think im gonna have to pass on this one

Posted by BlingBling.dk on 08-11-2004 12:26 PM:

Dont like the crow.

Actualy it was first ment as a TV movie, but then when brandon died, while filming a action scene, they taught. Hey, lets use this as a media stunt, and air it in cinemas.

Personal oppinion:
Crappy acting, flat and predictable storyline. Chessy special effects.

But lot´s of people like this one, so i think this rls is great for the collectors.

i wonder if the additional scenes is going to be in the unrated directors cut of this movie thats going into us theatres soon...
if so then kind of a waste but if not something all collectors of old movies would apreciate

people that just wake up in the morning open vcdq and just comment on a release like this cuz of it being old ect and not even looking at a sample atleast before commenting should be shot

Posted by pHo on 08-11-2004 12:33 PM:

and as usual another thread full of people who haven't seen the release. read the new rules, this is for feedback ONLY. keep your opinions to yourselves.

i'll give you to the end of the day to edit your posts, or i'll delete your accounts. because i'm sick of these forums turning into bullshit. nobody cares what you think.

edit.....you are too cool.

anyhow, this is what i would enjoy, i dont have time to run around and trade workprint movie tapes with other bunch of movie dorks like myself, so this was huge, thanks flair.

video = 5
audio = 6

movie = x if you have seen this movie, many times, then it doesnt matter what the fuck this looks like, cause the point is to see all the new shit, yes it helps when it looks good, but who cares, it was free and i wanted to see the new shit

as for the moron that said that this was a tv movie set till the brandon lee died, you are misinformed greatly, this movie was set to debut no matter what, in fact after brandon died, it almost killed this movies chances of going to the theater cause they werent sure if they could finish it, or if they wanted to. with help of cgi and money from the publisher this was done, thank goodness. The director said the death was so brutal on camera that he instantly cut that part of the film and burned it, so no one would make money off of something so tragic..too bad the same fate didnt follow for Crow 2 which was able to hit theaters from Rob Zombie directing it, and Crow 3 went sTV....anyhow. with all that said, i hope this was fun to watch for most as it was for me.

Posted by Sal Paradise on 08-11-2004 03:20 PM:

4/6 - as already stated on this board and in the info, for completists only, but a nice find anyway.

Tim Pope directed the first sequel.

"nice try flair" uhhhh right. Hopefully Flair will send you an email before their next release, you know, to see if you " personally believe its warented". Idiot.

Anyways, the video quality of this isnt very good (looks like a SMR conversion of an Realplayer conversion of a vcd scr, heh) but the sound is at least decent. Sucks about the missing audio/effects but way cool of Flair to put this out as it is OBVIOUSLY something fans of the movie will enjoy - going to watch this tonight.

Posted by EViL-EWoK on 08-11-2004 06:07 PM:

wow soo much for a fucking old workprint.
fuck what they say flair
i love this shit, its crap qual but who cares.

6/7/6

interesting to watch, I never really liked the original. The flow of the workprint is better then the original I think.

But thats what I think, dont cop this shit.

halfway through grabbasticing it myself, but a question to those that have seen it...
does it include any footage of the skull cowboy?
or the razor fight with funboy?

a few years back, there was a rumor of a special edition laser disk with the cut scenes, as well as auditions by eric stoltz... never did find the laser disk (guess it was more than a few years back then ) and was curious how this is going to go, guess ill find out in a few hours...

There is no s.e. laserdisk with extra cut footage. The workprint does include the skull cowboy and such.

This release is the best copy of this print that i have ever seen. Usually its about 3 generations below this.

video/audio = 5

honestly some people should stop acting like these release groups owe them something, they are the ones putting thier necks out not you. For the people that support i hear ya, flair does it again!

good job

b

Posted by maltonbranch on 08-12-2004 12:02 AM:

good release flair - low pic quality sound ok

movie - 9
sound - 5
picture -3

good to see old workprints - flair keep up the good work

Posted by Splak on 08-12-2004 07:01 AM:

this release ain't about the quality of the vid/aud obviously,
that being said
4/4/8

Thanks FLAIR!

Posted by BLUE-NEO on 08-12-2004 11:07 AM:

I really liked the movie..and its sad what happened to Mr. Lee.. but this workprint is just horrid..even for some extra scenes not worth it.

4/4/8

Posted by hulkvsspawn on 08-12-2004 04:56 PM:

These workprints are geat. The quality is shite, but hey its probably been sitting on a shelf for 10 years. The workprint to the hulk was intersesting, same with catwoman. Both copies were crap but that's not the point. Collectors dig that shit.

this is a good one for all the FANS and for those getting mad over quality then your not a fan and dont comment and dont download it.......so this is a nice collectors edition........thx flair even if the quality is not that good its a nice rls........good job

I beg to differ, other FANS might take the little effort to have gotten this many years ago,in better quality aswell rather then waiting for it to fall in their hands.FLAiR seems to think anything not released is super rare no matter how the quality when hundreds of dubs exist.Perhaps they should try a little harder to find lower generation tapes, but I guess this does save some time and effort for some even if quality is near unwatchable.

I remember when this movie came out 10 years ago, I was in 8th grade and man did this movie really rock to the end. This was Brandon Lee's best picture ever and there was a reason why this movie got a 4 star rating by almost every reviewer that rated this movie back then. It was really tragic to see brandon lee die during filming this movie but I am sure he would have been proud to see his work in this movie because it was just excellent. Easily his best work ever.

Man does time fly because it just does not feel like this movie actually came out 10 years ago but well it did. The thing about this is, that brandon lee proved that he was much more than just a martial arts star, since this movie had so much drama in it and they could not have picked a better person to act this role. He proved he was a very good actor and can achieve more in hollywood than just doing karate movies like Segal and Van Damme spent their careers doing.

As far as this workprint goes, I really do not see why they are even releasing this thing unless they plan to re-release this in the theaters. Probably a one night thing like they did with the exorcist and alien. But still this movie was so excellent.

It is too bad the 2nd one had to suck so bad. ROb Zombie really sucks as a director. And you know, I never even knew there was a 3rd one that was made for tv, I never saw it.

Rob Zombie had nothing to do with the second film. He wrote a crow script, thats about it.

Posted by doctor zoidy on 08-13-2004 02:44 PM:

and soon we'll have a fourth one with Edware Furlong, Dennis Hopper, and Tara Reid:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0353324/

i actually liked the third one better than the second one, at least it was a different type of story, and not just a scene for scene remake of the original...
supposedly they're playing with the storyline in a few different ways on the fourth too..

there won't be a director's cut of "the crow"
sad, but understandable

as for this release:
