Not bad obus. Video has a light white haze over the widscreen video with light pixilization. Audio is great! Movie is funny as hell a must see.

video = 7
audio = 8
movie = 9

Posted by frankwhite23 on 12-26-2003 02:50 AM:

the video is not that great its grainy and blury. the upside is the sound is good.

6/8/?

Posted by Bradleyko on 12-26-2003 04:19 AM:

ewwwwwww diane keatons titties couldnt of picked a worse sample

7/7/?

Posted by Clessy on 12-26-2003 06:02 AM:

Are any of these obus screeners really screeners? They seem like medocore telesyncs.

Posted by Div on 12-26-2003 08:21 AM:

Well, he's right. This shit looks like horser33t (¿the back of a horse) on my TFT-TV. The compression blocks are tearing up my fucking eyes, just like every other vcd does. Take my advice.... VCD is ancient times, go SVCD or DVDR for vhs.

4/6/6.5

Posted by HuFFKING on 12-26-2003 11:40 AM:

Its good

I like its pretty good but i agree with some of the above posts its pixilated alot like lost in translation screener

great movie though

Posted by pezley on 12-26-2003 12:45 PM:

"They seem like medocore telesyncs"

wow, wait a go scene inspector....

Do telesyncs have "this copy property of warner bros. Loaned for award consideration only" come up on the screen ?........ somehow i dont think they do

also, if you do mean "mediocore" then you must have some awsome telesyncs.... because for these to be just average then you must have some nice DVD quality telesyncs ? dunno if thats even possible

they may be not the best caps ever, but i dont think everyone wants to go out and buy the most expensive capture device going ., TCF do great jobs on vhs screeners........ dont expect their standards from every release group.

anyways , fine release... is pixilated (sp?) like people mentioned, but what can ya do ... sound is good as are the colors.... OBUS are on a roll as of late with oscor screeners...

Posted by Nautical on 12-26-2003 10:55 PM:

I don't know if obus is dumpster diving or how they're the only ones managing to snag up all these screeners but good work. Sure it's not dvdscr heaven like the past two years but these will definately do. Pixelated, good sound, but if you watch these on a tv with a upper end surround sound system then you'll appreciate it a lot more then the struggling TS/silver scene

Posted by M112_04 on 12-26-2003 11:32 PM:

This is nice too..

Ok OBUS is on a role..I just got all there screeners..Mystic River. Last Samurai, Master and Commander and now this..and they are all nice...even this one.
Some differ in a way...but this one isn't bad at all...great release..

video 8...nice for a vcd screener...its good quality.
audio.9 as usually loud and clear....
overall 8..this is a good movie...not bad at all

For all the one that complain...look at it on the t.v not the computer...look alot nicer..

can we please get a stuck on you screener now...because all the telesync's suck azz..

Posted by Mekapo on 12-27-2003 05:17 AM:

Posted by AddNtoX on 12-27-2003 08:35 AM:

all i gotta say is you guys got some balls rlsing these screeners because theyre FULL of MPAA dots, props for rlsing but maybe u should protect ur scource a bit better because the dots make these copys tracable

Posted by mobile_device on 12-28-2003 10:28 AM:

=\

All i gotta say is that OBUS seems kewl

i got 2 screeners in the past 2 days, GREAT QUALITY...for the first 50 minutes

Sound is great, Video hell i'd give video a 9 i'm not too picky and i dont see anythign wrong with it

but after 50 minutes the thing starts to glitch minorly...then it gets a lil worst, and gradually gets really bad...........then it wont play any more

This happened with Big Fish and Somethigns Gotta Give so far....this is pretty pathetic =\

If you're going to release something, atleast make sure the damn thing works int he first place, its pretty hard to watch a movie with 20 minutes missing....oh and i dind't even try cd2 yet so i dont even know if it plays much less continues whats at the end of cd1 =\

Posted by 104 on 12-28-2003 10:58 AM:

Quick and nice screeners thanx obus.

Just a quicky-- Is any one else having probs with encoding to dvd second disk on most of the obus screeners??

Great movie worth a watch..

Posted by 104 on 12-28-2003 11:14 AM:

yeah i know codecs

Posted by kurisu on 12-28-2003 01:11 PM:

well no one seems to listen to me or even care but i keep saying it: obus rlses are NOT 100% vcd compliant and will not play an all players... they rls great movies, if it works (after re-encode in my case) qlty is ok, but i still think they should be all nuked for *not-compliant* so that propers can be relled....

Posted by Mekapo on 12-28-2003 07:38 PM:

Yea i burned SGG on a cd-rw and about 30 mins in it glitched out hardcore. Disc was brand new as is the DVD player. I gave up and ripped the .dat files to my xbox HD and watched them from there, no problems after that.

Posted by mofo69 on 12-29-2003 03:41 PM:

great movie, gonna see it in theatres when it will start here.

vcd quality is average, but anyway, nice release. keep up the good work obus

MPEG-1 type: NTSC
Size: 352x240
Aspect Ratio: 4:3
Frame Rate: 29.970 fps
Av. BitRate: 1151 kbps
Audio: 44Khz @ 224kbps Layer II

Cheerz

Posted by kurisu on 12-30-2003 08:37 AM:

so why do ALL obus rlses skip like hell on some ppl's players? and why, if i try to re-import the dat file in nero, does nero tell me the stream encoding is invalid for a vcd and that i have to re-encode or turn off standard compliency? this also is the case with ALL obus rlses... i d/l a lot of vcd screeners and this is the first and only time i have this problem, with the only constant being that the problem rlses are obus rlses...

Posted by Jerry Aldini on 12-31-2003 03:32 AM:

No B&W switching, correct?

I don't know why it happens, but I found that by turning off standard compliency for this mpeg, it burns fine as a VCD in Nero (the audio and video are in sync).

I guess I would like to know "why" as well, but I am glad that I didnt have to re-encode the file.

This is the 2nd time I've watched this movie. the 1st tme was on the other release, I forget which one it was, but it wasn't a screener. Considering this time it was an Obus screener, the quality is much better than the cam verson. This version looks slightly washed and faded, but like I said, still better than cam. The sound was crystal clear.

Video 8 / Audio 10 / Movie 9

So the mob is providing the screeners?

Posted by Moloko_Plus on 01-14-2004 12:39 AM:

(Great example of how slow and ignorant the MPAA really is

A copy of the romantic comedy "Something's Gotta Give" that was sent to an Oscar voter has surfaced on the Internet, prompting a probe by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Academy officials said Monday that they learned last week about the unauthorized online copy of the movie starring Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, which ranked fifth in last weekend's box office tally.
The development was a setback for the anti-piracy campaign by the film industry and the academy. Last year, the Motion Picture Association of America, which represents studios, banned the distribution of so-called "screener" DVDs and videotapes over concerns about bootlegging, but partly lifted the ban after complaints from filmmakers, producers and independent production companies.
The studios changed the policy in October to allow the shipment of encoded videocassettes to Academy Award voters only. A federal judge in December, however, granted a temporary injunction lifting the screener ban in a lawsuit brought by independent production companies, which argued the policy put them at a disadvantage for awards.
The studios then sent screeners to thousands of other awards voters, including groups such as the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, the Screen Actors Guild and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which presents the Golden Globes.
The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday that visible and hidden markings on the videocassette copy on the Internet identify it as the one sent to Carmine Caridi, a film and television actor who appeared in the "The Godfather: Part II" and television's "NYPD Blue."
The academy required its 5,803 eligible Oscar voters to sign forms promising to protect their screener tapes before they were received. About 80 percent of voters signed and returned the forms.

An excerpt of the form reads: "I agree not to allow the screeners to circulate outside of my residence or office. I agree not to allow them to be reproduced in any fashion, and not to sell them or to give them away at any time. ... I agree that a violation of this agreement will constitute grounds for my expulsion from the Academy and may also result in civil and criminal penalties."
The Times said Caridi, 69, couldn't be reached for comment. His telephone number is not listed.
Bruce Davis, the academy's executive director, declined to identify the Oscar member being investigated. Davis said a phone call was made to the member who said he would call back to explain the matter more fully, but the member never did. The academy has sent a letter seeking an explanation for how the screener copy wound up on the Internet, but has not received an answer.
Sony Pictures Entertainment, whose Columbia Pictures produced and distributed the movie, notified the academy last week about the online screener copy.
"We did everything we could to ensure the secure handling of all of our screeners sent to members of the academy," Sony spokesman Steve Elzer told the Times. "We are very concerned about this situation, and have turned over all relevant information to the academy."
Sony officials said they'll decide whether to pursue legal action once the academy's investigation is completed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the .dat file have a slightly different file header than the .mpg file?
Or why is it we need VCDGear again?

I'd like to know that as well...

After a week of waiting for his reply with a sufficient answer, I can determine that he was probably just a common troll. I doubt OBUS will completely close its doors unless others sources are identified, and it doesnt look like the one caught is giving up any information. Sorry that had to happen, We all appreciate your efforts for what you did for us. I hope theres no legal reprocusions to him.

not a troll, just didn't think i needed to say
its from word of mouth from when they told their affil sites
