Very blocky, poor colours with serial blocked halfway thru right handsie of screen.

Posted by WorJamesy on 08-19-2003 03:40 PM:

The pic is VERY blocky, and the colour is faded
The timer on the bottom of the screen is off-putting
Stick with the TCR release for now

Talking

looks and sounds good on TV though, and thats all I care about - watched the TS last night, tonight im gonna watch the WP... this movie kicked fuckin ass

Posted by Jerry Aldini on 08-19-2003 04:00 PM:

Anyone know if there are differences between the workprint and final cut?

Posted by Mystic Slippers on 08-19-2003 04:28 PM:

Seems fine to me for a WP. Blur is a little annoying, but it's a WP, what did you expect?

Looks a little on the cropped side though. And the source tape looks like it was nth gen. The audio is awesome though. Clear and juicy with good clarity. Surpringly enough.

Just watched the whole release. Nothing missing compared to theathrical release and pic is great. Don't judge just by the sample on your pc. Much better pic then the TS and sound is excellent.

Posted by gofast on 08-19-2003 05:24 PM:

Based on sample...

The blurring of the serial # is annoying but you won't notice it after you become engrossed in the movie, same with the counter.

Maybe they chose the wrong part for the sample, but it did start off blocky, but that was just the beginning of it, it was pretty good after that.... 7

Sound was definitely great, perfect stereo ... 9

movie ... ?

7/9/?

Posted by Ren on 08-19-2003 06:46 PM:

another good reason to get this is you can actually see the movie

4 example in the TCR version the titles were

| FREDDY VS JAS|

however on this version u get the full

| FREDDY VS JASON |

on screen

Posted by JiggaLigga on 08-19-2003 07:11 PM:

This release was mislabeled, it's really a screener, was labeled wrong just because of how bad encoding is. Other then that, 5 for vid , 8 for audio, and 10 for movie.

Posted by J Sadistik on 08-19-2003 08:21 PM:

eh blocky and this one is dark as well i say stick wit TS

Post

is there nothing missing at all from the theatrical tho?

edit: sorry bout that...didnt read above posts

Posted by ewfbootlegga on 08-19-2003 10:22 PM:

Nope nothing missing and a hell of a lot less cropped then the TS as also stated above. Don't know why people are voting so low. The TS was unwatchable due to the fact that this movie is 90% dark scenes and the colors were very washed out. This copy is great and will hold me over until a proper screener. Only thing that takes away from the copy is the markings but beggers cant be choosers.

Posted by DaGamler on 08-19-2003 11:09 PM:

Thumbs up

Hands down the best release...so fwr

Posted by DarkkDiablo on 08-20-2003 12:14 AM:

i feel so special, i actually got a movie fast, instead of finding it weeks later.

anyways, this is a very good release, the video is specatular for what is probably a copy of a copy of a copy. and the audio crystal(lake?) clear

watermarks:
the counter is small, and is 'clear', where it doesnt have the black bar behind it.
the blurred serial is pretty large for a serial, most of them aren't that long, but after 5 minutes, you really don't notice either of them.

it's a nice widescreen copy that doesnt appear to be cropped at all. NOX did a very good job encoding this dark movie, everything is visible.

quality wise, this is the best WP i've ever seen

personally don't listen to 7theye he is just showing how much of a n00b he is this release is the best out so far quality of video is very good set aside that little blurr from where the serial was but hey you don't notice it once you get into film also the audio is amazing this is gotta be one of the better workprints i have seen.

i viewed this film on my dvd player not my computer so all you peeps out there that are judging this either from sample on your computer or even worse just the jpeg may wanna download full copy and watch on your standalone dvd player because that is where you will find the quality.

audio- 10
video- 8 (due to serial blurr and timer on bottom)
overall film- 9 (great flick and a few laughs too)

nox keep up the good work guys you doing great don't let the flamers get ya down

You sure your watching the right release and not the cropped TS floating around?

Posted by CaptHowdy on 08-20-2003 02:26 AM:

Great for a wokprint, bad for a screener. Overall image is pretty good, if its a WP it looked better than the Hulk, and is comparable to Dumb and Dumberer. The sound is great for what it is and the timecode is bearable, but the blurred serial became annoying here and there. Overall the best copy as of yet and the movie had some OK splats for a Hollywood horror.

NOX WTF......ugh not the not the best copy one word why.....an a lil late on a workprint. i just want to know why..sorry for flameing

Seen this baby at the theater, but I think I'll d/l this to rewatch it. Looks like its good qual. Thanks for the prior posts, makes me wanna get it now

Posted by KPJake on 08-20-2003 04:51 AM:

the video on a tv set (regular, not hdtv or big screen) looks good in comparison to the other 2 releases (but props on quickness). The sound is top notch, and comes in dolby 2.0 on my surround sound which is a plus for this type of movie (the screeching of the nails, the splatter of the blade) Other than the one blur in the lefthand middle side, it isn't a bad release at all. And the movie kicked ass compared to all those countless sequels that made no sense to any old story lines. I am actually willing to go see it in the theater this week! Thanks for this release NOX!

Posted by Hypo Luxa on 08-20-2003 06:42 AM:

Not sure what rls everyone is watching but I personally thought this release was awesome for a workprint, or so so for a screener...but defiantly the best rls out yet. Colors are good unlike TCR's TS which sucked horribly. The sound is crisp. Sure you have the blurred serial block on the left side of the screen but come on...its a workprint...what do you expect. And the counter is also very common in this type of release...If you don't like it..go see it at the god damn theater...as far as the movie goes...a DVD Rip isn't going to help this baby...its still going to be a waste of Film.
Anyway I say good Job NOX...keep it up

well looks good except for what ever is blocked out half way up the left side and the randomly placed counter.... now workpoints are vhs?

Whats with all the fuctards?

So many fewls bitching about the quality of this rls. And saying its late for a workprint. Just came out in theatres here a few days ago. Only issue with this release it the blurring on the left, and the counter. Maybe it is a copy of a copy of a copy. But I'd take that over any TS any day! People need to stop and think about what they are really saying here. Sit down, Shut up, and enjoy the movie. :P
My 2 cents

Best Release So Far Nice 1 NOX 8/8/9

Fantastic party movie, decent video and very good audio. Since FvsJ most likely won't get a theatrical release here in Germany, this release was well worth th download, at least untl the DVD (or a DVD-Screener/- Rip) comes along

Posted by DaGaMe87 on 08-20-2003 10:03 PM:

Wow this is a nice release, good audiom and the blur on the left is not too bad when u get in it, im used to timers on the bottom so it looks goodm watched the TS last night that was not bad, i will watch this soon, and i thought the movie was really good

Posted by Benoyd on 08-21-2003 01:46 AM:

Wow

New here btw
7/9/7.5
Audio is perfect, I did not have any problems to watch this on tv, not even in the dark places, the serial blur and the timer is pretty annoying but you get used to it, is it just me or does it lack on FPS in some parts?

Posted by NoBitYeaHo on 08-21-2003 09:10 AM:

This is a pretty good rip, but it does have problems. The serial and counter are unavoidable, but a/v is a little sketchy. A/V would have been better if this were...say...an SVCD rather than the weak and inferior format of VCD. Best one so far, but ill stick to the TCR version due to lack of counter and serial, plus it fits my tv better. NOX does good work, but next time try to use SVCD

Posted by jabba2k on 08-21-2003 04:36 PM:

I prefer the NOX release to the TCR.
1) The picture is widescreen! Finally I can see all the details on the side.
2) The sound is a lot better!
3) The contrast is much better, details are more recognizable.

Posted by AddNtoX on 08-21-2003 04:37 PM:

nothing wrong with this rls imho good sound decent picture dunno where ppl r getting that its blocky from maybe they should stop watching it on their p90 laptop serial blur doesnt bother me its either a blur or take the TS where you cant see shit. Whoever said this is late ummm late as in what?? there's been 2 telesyncs and no workprint so a fully justified rls, and on a plus side this wp seems to be complete so mad props this'll do til dvd.

LOL...ok people...SVCD is not needed for every friggen release...especially for a workprint. Unfortunately...more and more people these days cant seem to grasp old school scene fundamentals such as this, and this is the exact reason why we are seeing more and more gay ass SVCD cams...anyway..my point is..SVCD isn't always necessary.

Posted by NoBitYeaHo on 08-22-2003 05:00 AM:

If this were a cam svcd wouldnt be necessary, but anything better than a cam is better as an svcd

Posted by djeazyg on 08-22-2003 08:54 AM:

Some people complain too much!
I honestly don't give a hoot what format it is. SVCD or VCD What does it matter? If you want to see the realease bad enough, you will get it.
If SVCD is better quality, It don't matter. It is VCD cause that is what the group decided to do. So I think we should deal with it before they stop releasing movies at all.
People would get this release if it was on 5 cd's just because it is the best version out there and Just to watch the movie and enjoy it.
I am one of those people.
I can't rip movies myself and I will not pretend to know what I am talking about cause I am still a newbie. So I will deal with whatever format they give me.

6/8/10

It does have a bit of blur and I have seen better colors in a workprint.
Sound is Excellent.
I loved the movie.

Posted by dirtyrider on 08-22-2003 02:44 PM:

Got both versions, couldnt watch the TCR version because it was too dark but the WP was very watchable, brilliant movie.

cropped vs no-cropped

This film is a pretty good workprint. I dont see the big deal people are making over the quality. As said b4, you forget the timer and minor serial block are even there. At least i can see the whole picture, and its quite watchable.

However I feel that the very end of it is cut short. It isnt untill i see the beggening of the credits, that i know that the movie is over. But this release doesnt wait until the credits roll, and i cant help feel that i may have missed something. Anyways.

Erm i have pretty much ALL the credits! U sure u got the same rls dude? Anywho! This rls is'nt blocky, the sound is spot on! The ONLY things that make this rls bad (for some) is the counter an blurred serial! I personally prefer to have these at this standard than a dark cropped to bits TS!

Picture - 7 (Its VHS source it aint never gonna be amazinly clean)

Audio - 9.5 (Audio was perfect for me)

Movie - 7 (Was better than the later Elm street an F13th films so gotta be worth a watch)

XXX

btw i do hope there isnt a remach! That would be shit!

Posted by killah2122 on 08-25-2003 06:50 AM:

Never mind about the cut short part, my player must have ended it sooner.

the violence factor of this movie really gives its edge, cuz it definitely aint the story line..lol. That said, this movie was pretty cool.
