Disk Imaging Questions
or DIQ if you prefer.
Situation:
A computer running win98 with a 4GB drive using approximately 500MB of disk space needs to have a backup image created. This computer has 10BaseT, and a CD burner.
Needs:
The manner in which I would like to back it up, is to plug its harddrive into an external enclosure, USB style into my laptop. From there, I need to run a program that can: create an image from the harddrive, AND create a bootable CD that includes the image, resulting a in a single "put the disk in and click ok" restoration for my client.
I have looked through ghost and acronis, as they're the top players, but these look like they require a bootable recovery cd, and another cd with the image on it. I am looking for a program that creates ONE cd.
very long winded, but if anyone has more experience with disk imaging than i do, im very interested in your opinion.

The way I understand it, this is the feature that should interest you: "Boot the computer directly from Backup Capsule (no Recovery media is required) and perform any Restore operations in case of the operating system corruption or other boot problems."
So it looks like you use it to backup across the network (or whatever the hell you want, it supports every fucking medium bar vinyl as far as I can see) to an image. Then you create a backup capsule from that image - the backup capsule is then bootable and self-contained
