laptop problem

I had my friend from work give me his laptop asking me to kill the windows validation window in the bottom right hand corner

So I used the latest validation crack to fix this.

nod picked it up as a bad guy even though I am 99% sure it was ok

So I uninstalled the nod for later re install as turning it off and back on again picked it up again.

Now when I boot the laptop, There is a stub that is not in the start up but starts up on boot

In task manager
It stops then starts then stops then starts and by going to the processes I see its reproducing itself like a 20 year old who loves free cash for kids on the pension.

If I am quick enough, I can cancel the process tree but its bloody hard to get them all.

Any suggestions me having to safe mode install spybot and do a run?

Dunno what they're for but I'd try
the compaq support site.
