i have yet to see the sample, but i'll wager with any user on this site that it isnt very good =X

Posted by IrcDoMiNaToR on 07-19-2006 07:17 PM:

based on sample

decent release i guess

video/6 look like a comic book with all the shading and shadows
audio/6 decent for a cam looks to be in sync
movie/? haven't seen it yet

ok i have viewed the entire movie...it has to be based on a comic or something cause i swear its like a comic book gone movie....but decent cam none the less...i guess its supose to look like it does

Posted by rattlesnake2002 on 07-19-2006 07:23 PM:

its ok quality wise to be honest 5/5/? not grainy a decent cam for once :P

Posted by se7ensoftware on 07-19-2006 07:45 PM:

wow mavensupplier managed to find something better than a phonecam this time. It's actually a nice first release. Colors are nice, minimal flicker, audio is decent and in sync for a CAM pretty good

6/6/?

the movie was filmed live first and then was animated straight over the top which is why the actors look like the people they are.

wonder if they can get an oscar for this sorta thing?

nice.job
6/6/?

is this whole movie comic book style?

Wow, this rls seems to be one of your better first run cams. Perhaps they were doing their own phone cams at first, and saved up enough to buy a real cam...

Anywayz, the video is suprisingly fluid No choppyness, and not too bad on the pixelation. It seems to be shot at an angle from the way the opening credits look, but given the style of animation it is, it almosts blends in. 6.5

The audio seems good from scanning the rars. Not too hollow, not too bass heavy either. At the beginning there's some crackling, but nothing too bad. 5

Haven't finished all the way through it yet, but this release is definately watchable.

Posted by MonsterMan on 07-19-2006 09:56 PM:

Am I the only person that thinks this style of animation is absolutely amazing? I registered just so I could post to this thread. This isnt based on a comic book, its adapted from a novel. Richard Linklater used a less refined version of this technique in his movie Waking Life. Though this style has been around for decades, its now aided with the help of computers. I have been looking forward to this movie for about 5 years, since I first heard it was being made. Originally it was rumored to be a fully CG movie, and wouldve been one of the first. In the end, Im happy it turned out the way it did, and I encourage all to go see it.

you're kidding right? an 8 for audio? instead of just going off a sample, trying watching the rest of the movie. the audio is horribly distorted at high volumes, and you can constantly hear the audience.

Posted by farcus on 07-20-2006 12:21 AM:

video is good and sound is good from sample. why is sound rated only 4?

Posted by Mailman on 07-20-2006 01:35 AM:

The video is a bit dull, but overall still good quality for a cam. The sound is what you can expect from cams, but it is clear enough to hear and that is what you want with a cam. On another note, I just saw some of Mavenssullier's version of Little Man, it's a good improvement and props for the effort of hitting a triple-feature today guys.

Needs a repack. First minute of the second disc is the first minute of the movie, and 27:57 secs into the second disc it switches back to the first disc.

dude its a cam theres gona be audience noise. so quit bit**ing or u go do a better job. if u dont like it then go pay the 12 bucks it costs to go see it. no one said u had to dl them anyway. if its free its free who cares how good it is these guys risk getting caught everweek to bring us decent movies and if u think the audio is bad then dont watch it

Posted by Mr_Grinch on 07-20-2006 09:37 AM:

Actually pretty decent. Sound wise there's a bit of audience noise, a bit of distortion at higher volumes and bass heavy bits but overall very watchable.

Video is very good for an early release, washed out, cropped but not really heavily so.

Not quite up to good 'ole UTI standards but a good cam never-the-less.

Blatantly Mavenssupplier are largely taking the piss with some of their releases and nfos but if they keep putting out releases like this then I'll be happy.

I thought it's pretty cool, too. You should check out the movie Immortal if you like movies that cross reality with animation.

A) Some of us don't have 40" TVs. On my 27", it looks fine.
2) This is nowhere near the crap of their first releases. Much improved.
D) What do you mean, "Bring back the real maven"? I didn't know they left. It's only been a couple weeks since we got a release from 'em.

KVCDs tend to look better on a TV then on a monitor. Not sure why, it's just the way it is. Even so, it's an early cam so what do you expect?

V 6.5 - Decent quality for a cam. Burnt KVCD and watched on TV. Totally watchable.
A 5 - Somewhat hollow and dingy. Some audience noise.
M ? -Watching now.

Interesting movie, reminds me another drug comedy Fear and Loathing. But with a story. Video quality is subpar, but as it is the only release out and the artistic style does not demand too much clarity is does okay. Audio is fine.

Worth the time, check it out.

For a first release cam, ok quality to watch. Shot at a slight angle, and cammer's hand blocks screen a couple of times as someone walks by. Once or twice another walk by. If you had issues with the video, try adjusting your widescreen. It looked great on my 37" LCD (via network & Xbox), with a little brightness level (down) tweaking.
Sound ok, with audience laughter a number of times.
Movie was certainly like an animated comic book. That this was animated over live action, it was very different. But that was the only way the shapeshifter disguise suit could be done well. There is no problem telling which actors were playing which roles. Well done Philip K. Dick story.

Love those kind of movies that make you think about stuff. The animation made it all the more intense. The flicker? could be intentional due to the animation. Either way loved the film, Mavensupplier has come a long way since their first releases. Guess they finally got someone who could, and the right equipment.
