Why is this release listed here but none of the DVD-5 versions?

Posted by dbedgood on 09-11-2006 06:07 PM:

Is this worth downloading?

Because the dvd5 versions are not released in the scene. They are directly released in the newsgroups.

fuckin mint as a dvd9 should be, well chuffed

Posted by B0L0 on 09-11-2006 11:36 PM:

DVD5 was released some hours before dvd9 by -RENTAL. -WHoRe released a lame proper also. You guys need glasses.

Posted by simate on 09-11-2006 11:40 PM:

I have watched the dvd 9 of this and at around 1 hour 22mins it just stops, this is on my standalone player AND playing the image directly with VLC on my PC. Others on NG's have reported the same

I also downloaded a DVD 5 version of this which plays fine but there are no subtitles for the foreign speaking parts whereas the DVD 9 has, which is a shame, although subtitles can be selected for the whole film.

Posted by Warlor on 09-12-2006 03:03 AM:

Darn DVD9 and it's PAL. Just curious, is there a way to convert PAL to NTSC that doesn't introduce loss?

The DVD5 by -Rental (tdvc-rental) as subs displayed for the non-english parts...sweet release, roll on the director's cut!!!!

Posted by Brisse on 09-12-2006 03:13 PM:

No sweat Woutje. I have 70 days retention and am mostly interested in the earliest titles. Haven't lost a single .rar yet

Yes, but it involves a lot of work. http://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=300144 Also you will lose the menu and any extras although in this case that is not such a big deal.

Is this movie worth downloading? Absolutely.
Is it worth downloading the DVD-9 when there are DVD-5 versions available? Doubtful.
If you want the absolute best quality and think you can do a better job of encoding than what exists already then download the DVD-9 by all means.

Well it is 5.1 on my DVD-5 version so if that was made from the same DVD-9 original then it is a mistake in the notes. My only quibble is that a soundtrack as beautiful as this one deserves a DTS mix.

Yep, mine stops there as well, even if I make a DVD5 out of it.

Almost got the Rental version and will give that a spin.

Posted by Beelzebud on 09-12-2006 06:34 PM:

There is nothing wrong with the rental dvd5. I'm not sure why it's not being listed, but it's a legit release. The studio logos have even been ripped out of it, which saves me the trouble of doing it myself.

All the subs are there and work corectly. Silly to not list it...

Posted by Jinkies10 on 09-12-2006 07:04 PM:

IS anyone having a redundancy check when unraring the rental version....there seems to be no errors in the rars as quickpar comes up with nothing, but when it is unrared it comes up with an error.

Posted by Brisse on 09-12-2006 07:48 PM:

Am I the only 1 with an error in every copi of this movie i tryed even the dvdrental.

They are in the plaine, and the old man is saying he had the best time of his life, turn hie head and there is a artifax (or something :-) ) even the sound gets it, when he is about to tell the pilots to change rute.

No 1 Q Does the DVD9 version have that error or did it come when they made the dvd9 to a dvd 5.
And then all small copy is from the broken dvd 5 ??
There must be someone in here that can answer me.
Thx

Is there no one inhere who has seen the dvd9 ??

Posted by Raffles on 09-12-2006 09:47 PM:

Theres a version out now by SS2Gohan that claims to fix the chapter 15 problem.

Snip taken from nfo

Many thnx to Lone Ranger for posting the DVD9 version. Unfortunately he made a little mistake,
movie is freezing in chapter 15. We've fixed that little problem, this version works 100%.

Not d/led this version myself yet so can't comment.

Posted by 1Bullet on 09-13-2006 02:58 AM:

dvd 5 floating around have about 450mb of trailers. So dvd nine is the best.

I have downloaded four versions now, 2 were dvd 5 had freeze about 1 hour 22 min in. Seems that dvd 5 were rencoded from the dvd 9 leaving about 450 mb of trailers. I am now getting one that says no glitch , but I am leary . they were all retail WS. kinda like posedon all over again.

I appreciate that link ntscuser!

Although it looks like the consensus here is this particular release comes with an error, so I won't be trying it out on this. I do see alot of PAL stuff released in the newsgroups, so it should come in handy at some point.

None of the releases are R1, correct?

Posted by Brisse on 09-13-2006 08:32 PM:

Correct they are PAL

Posted by Brisse on 09-13-2006 08:37 PM:

The.Da.Vinci.Code.2006.MULTiSUBS.PAL.DVDR-RENTAL is this release a proper or does it contain the graphical error?

Posted by Spudgun on 09-13-2006 11:08 PM:

The Rental DVD5 release certainly has that error in it Brisse

Posted by Spudgun on 09-14-2006 12:26 AM:

The glitch also exists in this release - The.Da.Vinci.Code.INTERNAL.PAL.DVDR-BiERBUiKEN and can be verified by downloading and viewing file r.59

It is rather strange that so many releases have this 'glitch' as surely the release groups have different source discs?

I'll guess i'll wait for an NTSC release or a 'proper retail'

Posted by Spudgun on 09-14-2006 06:58 PM:

The.Da.Vinci.Code.2006.PROPER.PAL.NL.DVDR-WHoRe also has the glitch, which can be seen in file r.54

Posted by Brisse on 09-15-2006 02:24 AM:

I got a 9 version now, there is a little glitch in sound but none in picture, i think its a layer brake ??

Posted by eighty5 on 09-15-2006 06:15 AM:

personally ill wait for a dvd5 R1 NTSC copy.

Posted by ntscuser on 09-18-2006 01:35 PM:

Beware: the reauthored DVD9 by "Davie" of Canada has the exact same glitch, also the sound breaks up from that point onwards. A lot of work for nothing!
