Angle seems less... angled in this one. ANyone got the full release? (Either this or UTI) because I heard it rumoured that there was a different ending.

ANyway, typical CTP ts, lovely colours, lovely sound, slightly enlarged chins.

Posted by Dune on 04-08-2003 11:20 PM:

great sample 8/9/6 movie was decent somewhat better then the work print and i was hanging out on the efnet server using invision i went into the channel i hate most which is #INSERTCRAPPYCHANNELNAMEHERE and they got this posted Star.Wars.Episode.III.DVD.SCR.SVCD.CD1-RETRO.tar
Star.Wars.Episode.III.DVD.SCR.SVCD.CD2-RETRO.tar
funny how before i saw that i read that the script isnt even finished and that the actors are still preparing for the roles
stay away from #INSERTCRAPPYCHANNELNAMEHERE on efnet people they are lamers and have tons of bad bad bots but centropy thanks for this release ive been waiting for a good watchable copy keep up the good work

well the audio is nice just like every release, the camera angle never bothers me and i do believe it is getting better, but overall good job, i was just fixing to watch the uti cam .....

7/8/?

Posted by flipp0r on 04-08-2003 11:28 PM:

mmmm violence in the sample. thats enticing me to watch this.
great audio as usual. video has the slight angle, we should be getting used to.. either way. i am not one to bitch about that. certainly better than the cost of a ticket.

Posted by LiQuIdMuNkY on 04-08-2003 11:46 PM:

Is it just me, cause i seen jay leno chin again, although the pic is nice and clear, them chins be huge! Audio is decent for a ts, since cams suck i wont be grabbin this but if you must see it, this is decent quality for it.

A 30 sec extra scene (dont want to spoil) that changes ending from WP... (liked WP ending better) the grave had the date changed to 2003, and a 20-30 second extra intro/voice over at the beginning. NOTHING else changed. Other than the title that is. Hope this clears things up.

Posted by eckoclothing on 04-08-2003 11:57 PM:

EXCELLENT job Centropy on this release and all the other releases you have been getting out recently. I was especially happy with Head of State, but this is up there too. The camera angle kind of sucks, but its easy to get over.

8/8/7

I haven't watched A Man Apart yet, but I watched the El Diablo Workprint last year and it was a hell of a movie. I liked El Diablo tons better than XxX. Well, guess I better watch this one.

Picture has interlacing as mentioned (i'm assuming an interlaced image has those horizontal lines during fast motion). That effects causes some blurring which is annoying on close up fast paced action sequences like the sample.

Audio was great, didn't have a problem understanding words like "ohhhh" and "ahhhh" as they got shot. I'm sure if the sample had more dialogue it would be fine.

Posted by rappa on 04-09-2003 12:31 AM:

the angle is alot better, seems to be improving, colors/sharpness still amazing...8..sound is usual no buzz 9...movie idk one of my friends saw it in the theatres so i guess ill pick it up and rate it later, i like action flicks, hopefully this won't disappoint.

8/9/x

Cool

agreed with the point above ^^
watched the sample and saw the little fisheyed stuff was still there but not that terrible and only in close ups, quality is fine although i don't have any high expectations of the movie so i'll pass on this one but to CTP: continue to do this stuff dudes i like it a lot, get us Phone Booth please :P

7/8/?

Posted by xlsvcd on 04-09-2003 12:46 AM:

I saw this in the theaters and id have to say this is Vin Diesels best movie. Some parts of it are a big cheezy for a big guy like him, but this is the BEST Vin movie in my opinion. Nice quality, less angle, but is that interlaced?

Posted by m-drew on 04-09-2003 12:53 AM:

Id have to say this is Vins best performace for his role. Forget what you have seen/heard about Vin before, because I think you will like his acting in here a lot better, but heh, thats just my opinion. Quality looks decent, thanks Centropy once again.

Centropy isnt the fastest releasing group, but when it comes to quality, they are the best. Keep up the good work and we hope to see more quality release.

And on a side note, what the hell was up with the 15-20 second commercial in 'Head.Of.State.SVCD.TS-Centropy'?

Posted by bryehn on 04-09-2003 01:07 AM:

judging by the sample, i'll stick with the WP...

why can't CTP get thier stuff in the centre of the screen?

5/7/2.5

Posted by dvdude on 04-09-2003 01:08 AM:

*** interlaced *** maybe ill see a better copy of this 1.. looks like a fun movie.. anyway.. kick ass quality CTP.. but its interlaced..:/

Posted by brr8760 on 04-09-2003 01:14 AM:

8/9/7 == Fantastic release, once again. At their present pace, Centropy will not only be the best group out there, they'll be the ONLY group out there. Colors are rich and sharp, movie (so far) is moving along nicely.

My only concern is that we've got all our eggs in the Centropy basket: Willard, View From The Top, The Core, Head of State, Basic, and now A Man Apart. That's an unparalleled release slate, people, as in 100% of the last three week's major Hollywood releases.

Posted by Vaffanculo on 04-09-2003 02:03 AM:

Centropy are GREAT. their release spree is impressive and their quality is fabulous. allready seen this pos movie tho so ill pass on this release but ill still rate it. 9/9/3

i recall willard workprint, the core twice from ftf, and a cam of a man apart by uti, i guess you have selective reading problems or somethin

quality is ehh, 7/7, angle is annoying

Posted by Smurf Boy on 04-09-2003 05:40 AM:

Nice and crisp video, though it's slightly interlaced and the angle is still around, but it seems to be not as steep. The audio had no noticable buzz and sounded clear from the sample. Overall the movie seems to blow, if I run out of things to do I might pick this up and watch it, 8/8/?.

Posted by MQ-James on 04-09-2003 08:29 AM:

7/8/? Damn nice release I couldn't notice the angle from the sample

Posted by PRiNT on 04-09-2003 09:32 AM:

I watched it last year, and it was fantasic, why watch it now?

besides... I aint going to watch it again cause they changed a couple of scenes around, workprint rules....

oh yah i forgot to mention...

[video] :: pretty well standarized, give it a 8 overall

[audio] :: audio is always perfect from CTP, 9 overal

[OA] :: a decent movie... but hes atrracting da ladiez, not me

why is a imdb link going to this movie?

Just got the Sample, its not bad it has the angle. Sound is good though.

Ibegoat, not everyone can choose where they sit. Ever walk into the theater and find nearly every seat filled, with the only choice being to sit at the front row? They probably just got the best seat available. Anyways, that's the only explanation I can think of. How can anyone walk in front of them if they're almost in front?

Anyways, the sample's pretty good. The encode handles the fighting and the explosions pretty well. There's the slight angle problem, that everyone else has mentioned, but other than that it looks and sounds great. You'll forget about the angle in five seconds, tops. Overall: 8/8/?

Posted by upur0 on 04-09-2003 05:46 PM:

Nice pic and sound but HORRIBLE movie. Now I am not an old guy or anything, i am in school still and this is an awful movie I hated it. I just watched the UTi cam, definately not wasting my bandwidth on this movie again. It would take someone everybit of 7 years old to write the script. Is it just me or does Vin Diesel not go well with good movies (excluding The Fast and the Furious)?
7/8/3

Posted by BruceBanna on 04-09-2003 06:19 PM:

Uhh... you guys are all blind right? It's pretty interlaced and has SEVERE ghosting. Picture is pretty sharp and the angle is passable.. but it's got some bad issues with the interlacing. You can even see it CLEARLY in the jpgs, as well as a bit of the ghosting (check the leg up in the right corner).

Posted by namnol on 04-09-2003 06:47 PM:

How can anyone say that 'the angle doesn't matter much'. It's horrid! The people lean when they walk ... hell, everything is at a slant unless it's directly in the middle of the picture. I truly believe that some of you wouldn't care what a movie looked like as long as it had a Centropy tag hooked on it. This has greatly reduced the high opinion I had of Centropy for keeping 'the original integrity' of the movie. What's even worse is that because of the people who say it doesnt matter, they wont try to correct it and reach some middle ground between blue tint and distorted picture. Once again, I can play with color settings....can't do a thing about a distorted image. I know this sounds like I'm raggin on Centropy... but I'm not. I'm upset with people that claim it doesn't affect the viewing experience of the movie. If we spoke up about things that we don't like, I'm sure more would get done to try to improve things. After all, these fine release groups do this for the people. So if the people say they like trash, trash is what they're keep on getting.
On a more positive note, props to Centropy for 'trying' to make things better. But please don't stop trying, because I for one don't think this is an improvement. I don't think 'its the better of the two evils'.
There...had my say and at least I 'feel' like somebody somewhere will hear me and care.

brr is right, the CTP releases of all the films you mentioned were better. He doesn't have any kind of problem, where as you apparently do. His point was, and it was obvious to everyone else, that ctp is doing the best releases atm. FTF's core was, basically, crap. UTi's cam was nothing to write home about and the workprint of willard wasn't great either, was it?

And this rls...
Quality is good 8, so is audio, 8, haven't watched it through yet so dunno about the flick

Posted by Jc100 on 04-09-2003 07:42 PM:

LS that would be a feasible explanation if it was one release man. It is consistent crap, and angle. I;ve seen the sample. How anyone rates this an 8 is beyond me. More like a 2/3 on video. But ah well, guess people dont want to admit old legends do faltar and hit hard times.

Posted by LS_Gold on 04-09-2003 07:54 PM:

I barely noticed the angle. After five seconds, I forgot about it. And why would CTP purposely pick to sit in the front row near the corner? To tick people off? Like I said, it's most likely because they weren't offered a choice.

Now I haven't watched the full release yet, just the sample, but based on its picture quality, it definitely deserves an 8. Remember, this is a telesync, not a DVD or a TC, and it's pretty high quality compared to other telesyncs out there. I didn't give it an 8 just because it's by Centropy.

Posted by Dune on 04-09-2003 10:13 PM:

i saw sample its the usual centropy release standards 8/7/6 movie was pretty good i enjoyed it when i went to go see it

heh

i think 4/5 of group members CLAIM they don't care what people say here, but 99/100 of them come to read comments on their releases, and it bugs them to see bad comments, no matter what they say.

movie is alrite nothing amazing kinda slow movie : 7

you only see the interlacing in the sample!

Posted by HomeSlice on 04-19-2003 03:29 AM:

This is a fairly good release of a very poor movie. The video is fairly good as far as ts's go, but there is the ever present "Jay Leno" effect (I'd love to know who coined that term!) which rears its ugly head (pun very much intended) whenever there is a close up of a person. The audio on the other hand is excellent, I found no faults with it. But the movie itself...blah; after the first few excruciatingly bad minuites of this film, I turned it off.

I give it: 6.5/8/x

If you are really wanting to see this movie though, don't let this deter you from picking up this release, it is highly watchable if you can handle ol' Vin.

Posted by ryanc on 04-19-2003 07:25 AM:

good release, i like centropy's releases. picture is clear but looks like he sat in the front row. its not a big deal. funny movie. vin is a bad ass cop. i would pick this up. i guess the screener sucks!

audio 8
