desent quality...reminds me of the same quality found in lotr release they did other then the audio being not quite up to par...my vote goes 7/5/?

From the sample Looks like a cam. Video is awful, faded and blurred. Audio is unbearable. Not as good as some of the first releases we have had in the past few weeks. Will wait on a better copy.

For First copy im impressed , fullscreen and doesnt look too horribly bad . Sounds ok too very watchable release . Kinda unsure about the movie though they talked lots in the sample and only E-Sub's when Jesus spoke. From the looks of things it looks like there is a possibility the Subs could be cropped out at some points. For all us English folks We need those subs . Anyway dunno if im gonna pick the movie up yet or not ... ill update again if i do. Brutal Sample scene btw ....

Nice pic, the usuall 'mist' or whatever you want to call it on the video, and fs. Sound is pretty good, a little hiss as mentioned but you kinda forget about it. Movie, well not exactly my type of film but it was made well. Sorta lacked in some areas though, failed to pull me in, but then concidering the content it's that big a deal.

very decent all the way around for a release and damn isn't this movie causing alot of issues to arise, got everyone talking about it, at least it takes everyone off the whole president bullcrap :P

Congrats on being first out of the gate with a watchable release. I'm going to wait on seeing it, though. Based on CD1, the flaws make this a wise choice for INTERNAL release.

Picture (5) = Too dark, too blue, very little color. Full screen, and YES some of the subs are cropped out. A lot of incomplete sentences. Even at better quality, this would be a problem, so I hope there's another source out there.

Sound (5) = Not as bad as I expected. Nasty hiss, but you can minimize it by whacking down your treble. Hard to judge the quality of the sound here, because there is -0- English and very little background music.

In fact, the problem with this release is more video-related than audio-related.

Mel Gibson's Passion film has grossed more than the next 50 films combined collected on the same day. 50 First Dates, which was the second highest grossing film on Wednesday, earned only $1 million.

Though Gibson is an Oscar-winning director and has immense worldwide popularity, the Jewish Hollywood studios refused to release or finance his film, forcing Gibson to finance it himself to the tune of $25 million. Now, the film is expected to gross $50 million and become profitable in just two weeks.

In additon, The Passion may turn Newmarket Films -- which had previously distributed nothing but small art house hits -- into a major player. As the buzz for the film got hotter day by day, Newmarket was able to expand its distribution to more than 3,000 theaters, shocking the Jewish community.

"If anyone is on the border of hating Jews, this will push you over," said Rabbi Bernhard H. Rosenberg (pictured), chief rabbi of Congregation Beth El in Edison, N.J. Who also teaches "Holocaust studies" at Rutgers University.

"With all the publicity, Mel Gibson is laughing all the way to the bank," Rosenberg muttered after seeing the film. "Theaters are going to be packed, and his pockets will be lined."

Bizarre. Audio is not that bad. Pic is very grainy and washed out though. Should have been VCD. Groups should sort this situation out. Wasting formats on garbage is stupid.

A VCD release would have been just fine.

Also when the romans speak latin, there are no subs. Jesus speaks and subs appear.

Great movie. Seen it in the theaters yesterday. I recommend everyone to see this in the theaters. The moviegoer's reactions at the end are priceless. There's an overwhelming quietness while walking out that you don't get to hear in the everday movie. A lot of emotion there.

Great Movie, i don't care on what people think of the movie or the story, but a true story is true story,

Movie Quality is Classic CAM, but sound is good like TC

if your a fan of the movie or can't wait for better quality then yes download and watch!

Quite possibly the most powerful movie of all time.
After I left the theatre yesterday, I couldn't help but feel like a sinner. But, maybe that's cuz I was drunk, high and with a prostitute

I was thinking last night, who on earth is gonna release this, a movie about Christ... and now we know.

sample is grainy, video aint so hot. but hey, its logistic, wasnt expecting a dvd scr. audio, well, eh, i guess its bout the same qual. 5/5/10.

Movie is excellent. Even if you dont believe in Christ, the movie is very emotionally hard to watch. Losing a child in such a violent way, and to see Mary deal with it, hard to see. Post above said it right, exiting theatre everyone is quiet.

Im not gonna get the full movie on moral principle of the fact of what this is, gonna wait for dvd, maybe see it again Good Friday. Personally, I think everyone should, but hey, if it doesnt bother you, go for it.

movie is incredible, saw it in the theatres.. i'm not a chrisitian, but definitely a very good movie. I think all of you know its about Jesus resurrection, so if you don't believe in him, and want to stay that way, and at the same time, say bulshit like the guy above me, than dunt watch it!

it's one thing critiising a movie, another someone elses' religion. btw. about being a true story or not. it is a fact that the romans did crucify people who said they were the almighty. Jesus was alive, and he was crucified, wether he was a god or not.. well thats upto you.

This is a watchable release but as stated there more video then audio problems. The Subs/sentances are cut off from time to time and that is gonna annoy me so .... till someone else releases it *waiting*.

Stop talking about going to hell because of pirating a movie about Christ. I'm a christian and I don't care..as long as his word is spread through the nation who cares how you get it done. No different than watching Public Tv..with a million sermons on it every sunday morning. As long as people learn and know the truth about Christ. I'm all for it.

Good release by logistic. There typical work...But I know there is something missing from this release and the picture is not enough justice for this type of film. Wait on a better and hopefully widescreen release...

MATINE, TCR, or even FUJiTIVE might do a better job.

Release is not very good at all. Sound is really annoying and video is dark and grainy. Wait for another release for sure or go see it in theatres.

I personally haven't seen the "entire" film yet....but from what I hear the poor guy gets it in the end....now call me crazy but isn't that just the stupidest marketing idea you've ever herd....how the hell are they suposta make part II? Regardless Im sure Gibson and Jesus will get a Grammy for this puppy.

as far as the rls 6/5/?

The movie should have been NC-17. Not suitable for children at all even though it's about Jesus. Adults (including Men) were crying and wincing aloud during the scourging. Even some woman had a heart attack and died while watching this movie (not in my theater but in some other in the USA).

I saw the movie in the theater on opening day and loved it. It's very brutal and powerful... yet also has great messages of forgiveness and other "human" qualities we all should have.

Anyway...

I saw the sample and the quality is terrible. Not even worth getting. To watch this film for the 1st time don't even dare see this terrible copy of it.

Well, there were no subs when the soldiers were whipping Jesus because there are no subs in the actual movie when they are whipping him.

This is a very visual movie and I'd suggest holding off getting any rls until the video quality gets better. I'm sure gonna grab the 1st copy that's actually worth it when one comes along.

By the way, Not too many ppl mentioning that most of the subtitles are hard to read and alot cut off. I mean for a movie all in subtitles u kinda need to be able to read them. Props for being the first release, but I'll pass. Deleting this one now, later

Quality isn't quite good enough for me. This movie is supposedly very graphic and violent, so good quality pic is needed to fully appreciate the film. I'll pass on this one and wait for better. This one I'm sure will be worth waiting for.

a true masterpiece well done Mel

been wanting to see this for a while, for a first rls its more than watchable. Film really draws you in and the graphic depection of Jesus' death even caused me to wince, particularly during the scourging...........ouch!!

Video: isnt as bad as some ppl have put, little dark, and cropped at the edges but full screen is nice to see. The cutting of some of the longer subtitles is still readable and most fit on the screen anyway.

Audio: has a hssing sound in the background, but this can be made almost unoticeable by turning the Treble right down.

Definelty A CAM. I accidentally burned this one and was pissed. I just grabbed centropys version, and no pun intended but I was in heaven after seeing that one. Much better quality and sound. This release is crap. Dont waste a cdr on it.
