And i wanna say a word of gratituede towards maven. They really help us. I know a lot of groups that just rls to get good presites etc. Maven already has the name and the reputation but still they do their best. I wasnt as pleased with the xvid cause i wanna watch it at my dvdplayer. And the other svcd rlsed was just an abomination.

This one is excellent. TY

8/7/9 Potter is awesome

Great movie, saw it in the theaters yesterday with my kids and thought it was definitely the best of the series so far. I talk to a lot of people who think Potter is just for kids, but somehow they are all excited about seeing Narnia, talk about a double standard! Can't wait to see Half Blood Prince on the big screen, dunno that Order of the Phoenix is going to translate so well tho, they should just roll those 2 together for the next movie.

Anyway, another really good Maven release, skimmed through it to see a couple of scenes I missed while I was taking my son to the bathroom, a little pixelation, but even on my 57" streaming through the XBox, excellent quality for a TS, and the sound, tho a little muffled, is still completely acceptable.

Posted by sar on 11-21-2005 06:01 PM:

shouldnt this be in the SVCD section?

and can anyone tell me if this has the same motion blur as the xvid rls..

No, because as a rule, SVCD sections are limited to dvd screener rips and dvdr rips.

Nice release this

maVen is just the kick in the ass the scene needed after the events of this summer.

From XviD:

9/8/looks good

Posted by ol_perfesser on 11-22-2005 12:36 AM:

Hmmm
Maven divx, DVD, svd...
so much to choose from, so little bandwidth...

From samples of the divx AVI and DVD and a few rars of the SVD, they all look very much the same and all decent. After watching it through - A bit of blurring when fast motion, a little dark at the beginning and near the end (night scenes); sound is very good, occasional "static" but evn my rear speakers kicked in most of the movie.

Good release overall. Very good on WS standalone which compensated for light and dark scenes.

Audio is decent.

Picture is good.

Clémence Poésy is hot. Fun to imagine her topless from Bienvenue chez les Rozes.

Emma Watson will be when she's 18.

Watched it in the theatre and now several times at home.

Posted by alanisrox69 on 11-22-2005 03:57 AM:

Decent release. Dark scenes are pretty dark. Don't believe me? download the first few rars and check out the opening scene, very dark.

the bright scenes are full of color, very nice. The bright scenes also are "bright" too, sometimes too bright making peoples foreheads white. Other than that, pretty good with solid colorful colors.

Sound is decent, taken from a FM broadcast, you can hear them re-tuning it in every now and then. and they over-filtered it, it needs some treble, it sounds sorta "bleh" otherwise.

Aspect ratio is off, as usual, easy fix in MPC...but needs a re-encode to be the proper AR for burning and watching on TV.

Video: 7 (would have been higher if it was proper AR)
Audio: 6.5
Movie: 8

Am a newbie so hope my foolish questions be not laughed at. Can one just download just a few rar's of an archive and unrar it? I had problems with the 15th archive of the release by this group (cd1). Download of CD1 is complete, though CD2 not yet completed. Will it self correct the damaged file once the entire download is complete (I mean both CD's get completed). If not will just downloading that particular archive from another tracker help? Here is the message I got...

J:\download\Harry.Potter.And.The.Goblet.Of.Fire.XViD.TS-maVen\CD1\mvn-hp401.r15: Packed data CRC failed in mvn-hp401.avi. The volume is corrupt

So convert it to a DVD. Plenty of programs out there to convert avi files.

i wanted sooo badly to see this in the theatre, but my internet bill has eaten up all my spending money.

i gave in and watched this version last night. Not too bad. Still would have like to have seen it in the theatre.

video - 7
audio - 7
movie - 8

The video is very dark in the darker scenes and very light in other scenes. It's a very heavy contrast. Someone walks past the screen at the end very briefly.

The audio is pretty good, but there were a few occasional digital distorting noises.

This is definitely watchable, but I really do regret not seeing it in the theatre. Some scenes just won't have the same impact.

If you are a diehard potter fan with no money. I strongly suggest waiting until you do. Go see this in the theatre.

If you don't care too much about the series, but enjoy them nonetheless, watch this version if you can't wait for something better.

As for the actual movie, probably the best one yet, but a few awkward pacing issues keep this at an 8.

Pretty good flick. Some awkward pacing issues and a few cheezed out moments, but overall, highly entertaining.

just read this on imdb :

Is Latest Potter Film Posted Online?

It remained unclear Monday whether Internet pirates had succeeded in breaching Warner Bros.' elaborate security defenses and posted copies of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Prior to the release of the earlier installments, there were numerous reports about poor-quality copies being posted online. Forbes magazine reported Monday that it had found 1,500 AVI and 500 MPEG versions of the movie available for download on peer-to-peer file-sharing sites. Nevertheless, a spokesman for Warner Bros. told the magazine, "We are 100% sure that these files you have found are not going to be of the Harry Potter film" -- a statement that suggests that the studio itself may have posted decoys in an effort to confuse -- or perhaps even trap -- illegal downloaders.

100% sure ................ heh

Audio was good, but a few parts (which timemark I forget) had some slight issues.

The video was nearly perfect for me, considering the time it took to release it.

Movie was meh, after reading the book they left out way too much detail, but it's still worth seeing. Matter of fact, I'm heading out in 20 minutes to go see it again in the theatres!

Question for the people "In the know".
What happened with maVen's release? I heard something like their SVCD got nuked, but not their XViD?

Total guess here, but seeing as the Xvid was 1CD and the SVCD is 3, some shift in the audio sync may have resulted as a result of the split or just the reencode... I'm pretty sure scene standards for Xvid specify VBR MP3 audio, which is known to introduce some problems when working with MPEG.
