yay maVen!

way to fucking go! 8/6/?

I sure do hope they are going to be doing xmen 3 and pirates of the caribbean 2.
I wonder tho.. is this their dv tape? or did they acquire it? I wonder what kind of camera was used.. I sure would like that beastly thing, for shooting video.

i always associated Maven with the best copies of the big releases. They've been very quiet recently which is a big pity, and what they have been releasing is quality copies of awful films!

Where have the blockbusters gone maven please! as said before We miss you!!

Snap! The sound on my laptop is very quiet but just about hearable, but once burnt to DVD and on my TV even at full volume I have to put my ear to the speaker and can just about hear it, very strange. Top notch on the video quality though!

V - 9
A - 1
M - ?

Posted by Neversoft on 05-22-2006 10:25 PM:

The audio is a bit screwed on my PC too, but can be fixed by switching to right-channel only (or mono in VLC). Not ideal, but at least you can hear the fucker clearly. Video is gorgeous, almost as gorgeous as me!

V - 8
A - 6 (once you fix it)

Struggling to understand some of the comments above

Audio between 7 and 9 ?????

Have you actually seen this release.

Tried on 3 TV/DVD systems and sound is so low you need to turn up full, i thought this was my fault with the conversion but then i tried XViD on pc and a XViD dvd player and it was the same.

Video is nice 8
Audio might be clear but too damn low 1
movie was cool (for my kids... honest) 8

Well I gave it a 7.5 cause as i said its. low but my system is fuckin heavy so I can get it sounding ok and i didnt notice any hiss at all

V 9
A 9
M 10

Am I the only one that can get this to play perfectly?

Video, would've got a 10 but the end credits are missing, usually some fun bits that the kids love and slight(and I mean slight) motion blur.

Audio, would've got a 10 but I had the chore of turning the volumn and the bass up(and nowhere near full on my tv), ho hum.

Movie, for a parent watching with their kids 10, for a kid watching with a parent between 5 and 8, sad to say but this does not come close to Shrek 1,2, Madagascar, Nemo, The Wild, Shark Tale or ICE AGE 1,2, still a great movie though.

good quality video and audio

audio would get a higher rating if it wasnt so low but that problem can easily be solved using virtualdub.

there is a slight hiss though the movie
the higher you have it the more it become noticeable

Good to see you back with some good shit maven

Posted by ar_elite on 05-23-2006 05:32 AM:

Video quality was good (especially for the speed of this release) - 8

Audio wasn't that hot, I had to max my reciever with treble way down to be listenable - 6

Over all I liked the movie, solid family movie!

Struggling to understand the logic of your comments, surely the whole idea of a TS is to have a good quality direct audio otherwise its no better than a CAM (a TS doesn't necesarily mean the video is gonna be any different to a CAM).

And to all the comments regarding altering settings / changing audio in virtuadub, yeah thats fine for your own use but the voting should be done on the actual release not the altered by yourself version !!

I think most the comments are as usual lets suck up to maven.

A Telesync ain't just a direct audio on a shitty video.

Telesync should be a video made from a profesional camera using a tripod and then, you need to have a direct audio.

Compare as a Cam, its diferent

Hence the reason i used the comment 'a TS doesn't necesarily mean the video is gonna be any different to a CAM', and i emphasise the word 'necesarily' !!

And lets face it how many 'TS' get nuked nowadays for being mislabelled CAMs and why ?? Cos the audio ain't direct the true reason for labelling something a TS.

Posted by Roger on 05-24-2006 10:53 PM:

i would argue alot, but i don't feel like it.

http://divxstation.com/comm/thread.asp?i=14&t=5822&r=14

---
TELESYNC´s are kinda like CAM´s but with external audio source and often higher quality video.

The audio is sourced from audio plug's normally intended for the hearing impaired for
their headsets. Somewhat resembles to the plugs on a walkman.

The camera is placed on a tri-pod or in the projector booth to get the best image
available. Most are decent quality but there will often be a great amount of blurryness
or colorbleed and often a blue tint.

Up until a couple of years ago TELESYNC's were taped in 4:3 which resulted in horrible cropping of the image. Sometimes up to 50% was cut off. Luckily the people who make them try to do them in widescreen and then add black borders when they are sourced to VCD
---

http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/telesync.cfm

---
One of the multiple terms used by movie pirates to describe the source material that was used to make a bootlegged pirate copy, normally distributed in VideoCD, SVCD or DivX format.

Precisely Telesync means a copy which was shot in an empty cinema or from the projection booth with a professional camera, directly connected to the sound source.
---

http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Telesync

---
Precisely telesync means a copy which was shot in an empty cinema or from the projection booth with a professional camera, directly connected to the sound source (often FM audio provided for the hearing-impaired, or from a drive-in theatre synched to a cam). Telesync copies usually show up by late Sunday night or Monday afternoon after a film is released

=======

Now, maybe you want to read and learn what a "SCENE" Telesync is instead of doing crapy deduction about what gets nuked and why.

ALSO, as personal information, the *term* TELESYNC goes before scene, as profesional used to do profesional video transfer with diferent TELESYNC method provinding old VHS.

Oh jeez i feel old now :S

Posted by mikeyrana on 05-24-2006 11:17 PM:

We can all copy and paste info from vcdquality release descriptions, doesn't get away from my original comment that the audio on this release is naf !! end of.

Posted by The CandyMan on 05-25-2006 02:22 PM:

Great movie, I loved it, the wife loved it and the kids loved it. Audio is a little screwy, on my surround sound system it only came out of the left and right rear channels at normal levels, and barely audiuble on the fronts and center. The only way to fix it was to use CSII Mono, but then it sounded too hollow. So it seems that without 5.1 you're not going to enjoy it as much. Over all still a good TS release.

Either they figure bigger movies will have more attention and that somebody should get it right, or the fact that you're less likely to get caught if less people care about it.... dunno.

You said it yourself "often". Doesn't mean always. As for the professional video transfers from back in the day, they did it with a tripod because they were shooting themselves. Any cammer would idealy use a tripod, but it isn't always possible (NY bootleggers, etc). However if a cammer went in and filmed it by hand, and maybe recorded the audio from the hearing aid jack or whatever, it would still be a TS. Tele-sync. The word itself states that you're "synchronizing" with video. If you use the cam's mic, there's no synching to do (cause it grabs it all in real time).

Although, in writing this I've now come to speculate that perhaps it's a reference to "do it yourself" (analog) horizontal & vertical syncing...

Either way, "often" still stands :P

Decent picture, sound is fine, a little quite but turn the TV up and problem solved, not rocket science!
