Wiggo

Edit:

V - 9

A - 9

M - 3 - Tarantino's lost it, I just hope he hits the nail on the head with Glorious Bastards.

Posted by justin5ane on 08-30-2007 08:49 PM:

based on sample

agree with the others, what a pleasant surprise.

video - 10
audio - 9 (sample had an audio skip although I remember more than a few intentional skips when I saw it in the theatre

movie - 9.5

ps. now that ive taken a closer look, this really is the extended uncut...dont remember the lap dance scene in theatres for example (or that huge b&w scene).

Posted by Chips on 08-30-2007 10:26 PM:

Why just death proof?

Video 9

Audio 9

Movie 7.5 It would be better if it's the entire Grindhouse movie. I want Planet Terror too.

wish that american audience wouldn't have been so un recieptive of the double feature idea, it was really cool for explotation fans

as far as were planet terror is, death proof is due out on dvd sept 18th and planet terror isn't due out until oct 18th so it will be a nother month or so till pt dvdrip

::edit::

looks like mystic slippers noticed about the same time my sausage fingers were trying to type that message

Posted by 5Up3R on 08-31-2007 12:29 AM:

very nice copy
in a way it sux that there being released seperate but on the plus side theres extend scenes. lots of em.
(she actaully does give stuntman mike a lap dance, which i now made alot of ppl in the audience go awwww!! when they jumped the scene in grindhouse)

seem like they cut it down when they put em in the double feature.

****oh yea there no fake trailers in this copy***

so 10/10/11

i cant wait to see what they cut of planet terror

Posted by vanzan on 08-31-2007 01:24 AM:

Did you just give this 11 out of 10?

From the sample: V:9 A:9

Posted by skooter on 08-31-2007 01:28 AM:

Great fucking movie no question about it. I wish that they would of kept them both together with the fake trailers, but I also think them joined together would be way more effective in the theatre.

V- 9
A- 9
M- 9

Also can we please note how great the vcdq screen shot of this is? The screenshots are done randomly so to have it land on a shot like that is priceless. It's the best one since this :

+1 for Diane Keaton camel toe!

Posted by X400 on 08-31-2007 02:06 AM:

deathproof wasnt so hot... a chick flick really... i almost died in the theatres through this one

planet terror on the other hand is 10/10

too bad they dont have the fake trailers etc those were gold!
shame they're not released together either :/

Posted by chucky3456 on 08-31-2007 03:36 AM:

From sample... 10/10/10

I was one of the few to see this on the big screen... Planet Terror was the better of the two. I have to agree with skooter... AWESOME pic! I didn't remember that from the theater, must have just moved her hand infront of her for the snapshot. Why can't all the pics be like that?

Honestly the movie was a little weak. There's basically two action scenes and the rest is just incredibly boring dialogue about absolutely nothing. I was going to rate it a 5 (due only to the abundance of sexy women) but the ending was ironic enough to merit a 7. In my opinion it needed more action and definitely some tits. Whatever happened to a good old R rating meaning at least one set of nice tits? It would of been a nice touch and in keeping with the film style it supposedly pays tribute to.

Must say though, the ending scene was perfection. I would of also liked to of seen what happened to little miss cheerleader back at the farm? Whatever I think, it's worth your time and BW.

Posted by UreKismet on 08-31-2007 05:49 AM:

Deathproof is a chickflick?. . . . Unhhhh. . . . yeeeeah right. . . .
can't have these women fighting back. . . .there should be a law agin it. Given the intentional - to misparaphrase the old woodstock album liner note - "scars on antique leather" this 'un is hard to rate AV because what is intentional and what is the result of the rip?,
I'm gonna go 9/9/9

Posted by Cr-critic on 08-31-2007 08:45 AM:

Thx DMT props to you
Quentin Tarantino kicks ass....excellent
I loved the slow sort of start...... hot babes lol.....bang smash..crash then part 2...the last half was more intense and really makes this movie another classic Tarantino

video = 9
audio = 9
movie = 2 ... tarantinos worst movie to date, masses of boring dialogue with a car chase at the end, this is a chick flick , so if you enjoy listening to chicks talking meaningless shit like they can for an hour, check this out ... this is also missing the fake trailers, which were 10 times better than this crap .. planet terror pisses all over this.

Posted by fizzyk on 08-31-2007 05:35 PM:

the lapdance scene and the black and white scene were included in extended european theatrical release of death proof !!!

so i guess in America its new scenes etc
i really was hoping for more like the conclusion of the lapdance scene !!
anyways Good film nonetheless

I agree with you completely. He tries to pay an homage to the exploitation films yet he has little gore and no nudity!

This extended version is not better than the shorter version that appeared in Grindhouse, but it's nice to see the footage. I guess if Grindhouse was a big hit we wouldn't be seeing this separate version.... so I guess it's a good thing that Grindhouse flopped.

A very nice release, and if people actually understood the concept of the movie (70's drive-in trash). They would have enjoyed it as much as my wife and I did

For those saying that Planet Terror was a better exploitation movie that this are dead wrong. Planet Terror was like an amusing theme park ride of the genre. Tarantino made an actual "grindhouse" movie. If you've ever seen and heard about real movies like this you would know. Take a movie like 'The Candy Snatchers' for instance. I remember hearing all about the scene were Candy gets raped and buried alive. Then when I watched the movie, it was cheesy, it was cheap and there was a lot of nothing up until these parts. That's the whole point of exploitation films. They exploit the factors that will get people in the seats.

Flawless audio and video. Movie mixed views. Lot of yapping. Kinda like "Dinner" only in a car. Lordy the ladies were kinda gruesome too.

Would have liked to have seen more of Snake. Last half hour made it worthwhile.

9/9/7.5

Posted by Debby on 09-02-2007 07:41 PM:

This one is tricky...
With so many "edited" flaws in the film to make it look like a genuine gindhouse material

9/8/9 - Sweet violance, what can i say.

Posted by pedantics on 09-03-2007 02:01 AM:

fuck this movie rocked! haha. good to see kurt russell back in the game, the last half an hour was some of the most entertaining and visceral cinema I've seen in years. laughed my ass off.

and to people complaining about "too much dialogue"... have you ever actually seen a tarantino movie before? he's at the top of his game here. this shit is seeped in atmosphere.

10/10/10

Posted by AndrewM on 09-03-2007 04:25 PM:

V:9 But hard to tell because I didn't see it in the theater. Was that black and white bit at the part of the second half supposed to be there or is it part of a screener?
I presume all the cuts were intentional.
A:7 Voices in the first half were a bit chopped by music and background using VLC. A bit better wtih KMPlayer.
M:6 I liked all the referrences to other stuff, but the dialog just dragged on without end. If you didn't watch all those exploitation films from the 70's you wouldn't understand a thing...

Rated 10/9/10 loved the movie and dialogue was riviting, but lets not forget the soundtrack, excellent, T-Rex with Jeepster, so many songs long forgotten but still classics.
To me a movie is the sum of all parts, this had originality with its replication of the old big screen, it built characters before destroying them, it had a bit of gore but is realistic, some nice booty, awesome sounds and a kick ass ending.
Kurt you showed all the emotions in this one tough, crazy, mean to pathetic and scared.
This movie is a classic all by itself

Taratino at HIS art. Good flick if you're not looking for the action of kill bill.

Posted by Induna on 09-07-2007 03:17 AM:

Hehe. I watched the first half hour and thought, typical Tarantino. Half an hour of dialogue and nothing much else. Not to everybody's taste that's for sure.

10/10/8

Kurt Russell is a legend. What a head of hair.

I was expecting garbage and wasn't disappointed. I've never like Tarantino and this didn't change my opinion. I'd heard the ending was good enough to make the hour and a half of meaningless talk worth sitting through. Wrong. The ending is a joke. I suppose since grindhouse movies were trash this is a very good emulation.
