Eh, yes, stick with the POT release. Even if you haven't gotten the POT release yet, grab it over this one. Nice try SG18, keep improving

6/8/7

Posted by ou812 on 12-20-2004 07:24 PM:

The POT VCD looks like dogshit on my TV, I'm definatly getting this one.

/me thinks all vcdq posters have been smoking crack or something, hehe...

Posted by FunkyFlyChicken on 12-20-2004 08:28 PM:

Well, I'm not smoking crack, but I don't expect a TS of a movie just released to be DVD quality. If I wanted that, I'd go to the movies to see it, or wait til the darn DVD releases.

POT's release was perfectly fine. I'm not sure if this is a re-encode of theirs (or just used the same silver), but regardless, there isn't really much difference here.

I watched POT's release on the TV, and it was perfectly fine. A bit dark, but that's the style of the movie. Had a good bit of color and all considering someone got this with a camcorder sitting in a theater.

Honestly, I give them both the same score (Pot and SG18)
v - 7.5
a - 9
movie - 7 (Decent movie, just not sure what the intended audience is, since it's too dark for the young kids). It's a morality/fairy tale play for teens and adults really... except some of it gets a bit too "Goofy" at wierd times for the adults to truly love...

Posted by JaX on 12-20-2004 09:35 PM:

Have any of you seen as much as the sample?

I think not

This is about 2 seconds out of sync, on the sample. so not going to even bother grabbing this releases!

4/?/?

Posted by garvey100 on 12-20-2004 09:57 PM:

I have seen more than just the sample. In fact I have taken 2-3 rars from cd1 as my sample. The sync looks just fine to me in disc 1, although I couldn't comment on disc 2 as yet.

Picture is watchable. I have seen a lot worse.

Posted by sc0tsman on 12-20-2004 10:05 PM:

JaX try restarting yer PC m8, sync looks bang on here ...........

best of the 3 so far, imo

7.5/8/9

Dont know what sample you wached but mine was fine no sync problems what so ever???????

7/8/?

Posted by brut7 on 12-21-2004 02:29 AM:

Props SG18!

From comparing the two on my high end 21" CRT monitor; this is clearer and has much better contrast than POT's (though POT's was a good release). It looks excellent on the livingroom tube as well. The Movie was much better than I expected and the house falling apart scene was great but it's too dark (as in heavy) for the younger or more sensitive kids.

9/8/7

This is the one to get.

Merry Christmas or whatever to all.

brut7

PS I didn't notice any sync problems though I wasn't looking for them and watched the whole flick and didn't watch the sample.

Posted by Tadge on 12-21-2004 03:22 AM:

Cant see much wrong with this rls - cant see any probs with sync at all. Video is pretty good stuff and sound equally. Only comment i would make is that there is a little too much brightness in the faces. But nothing to complain about - best release of this movie so far in my opinion. I know sg18 take a hammering for their sources but as long as credit is given where credit is due in nfo and they can improve on previous attempts, the more groups the better is what i say. worth the downloading and very watchable

VIDEO 8 / 8 / 6

Well done sg18 much better than previous attempts

Posted by BLUE-NEO on 12-21-2004 09:27 AM:

Definitely not a re-encode totally difference source and the best copy out clear and picture is actually nice just dark..overall lovely release SG18 you guys are getting better.

This is the best version out better picture, sound is good and you dont get people walking in front of the camera like you do in the pots rels.

And it isnt same source just check out 36mins on the pot rels to see some dude walk on your screen

Do most of you on here even have both rels to see which is better?

7/7/?

Posted by dalton4life on 12-21-2004 04:47 PM:

No way this is the same source as POT's. It a nice TS and the best I recall from SG18.

An excellent ts, good job sg18, the watermark at the beginning are kind of annoying, but easy enough to get rid of. The quality is great, best release yet, at times slightly washed out, and dark, but you get what you pay for.

Excellent ts

8/9/?

Posted by scousethief on 12-21-2004 07:46 PM:

very good copy video is good audio is good (goes slightly out of sync for me on cd2 but probably my media/copy) definately NOT a recode of the other versions pots is crap compared to this their picture is cropped and a lot less quality but their effort is appreciated

7/9/7 kids thought it was ok

Posted by gfavored on 12-21-2004 10:08 PM:

Hi everyone,

This is the same source as VCD's release with Pot's audio, they cut out part of the opening titles to put their little intro clip in, you can hear the "pop" where they replaced the adudio right at the moment that Pot's release starts.

I wouldn't say it was a re-encode of VCD's but it is the same silver source and perhaps encoded it striaght to SVCD...unfortunately the source doesn't justify it to be SVCD resolution, it came out very soft and and the colors are a little washed out. The softness of it tends to make me think that they may have re-encoded VCD's and just added a temporal smoothe filter.

I took VCD's release and added Pot's audio to it and it is much sharper and better color than this release.

vid- 7 (too soft, and washedout)

aud- 8.5 (same as Pot's)

mov- 8 ( it was ok )

Posted by Dodgy Del on 12-22-2004 01:19 AM:

Unhappy

i couldnt see any out of sync probs all way through the movie. this isnt much better than pots release. stick to that if youve already got it.

Spoilers by LOSERS!

Hey "brut7" the rules say no spoilers u selfish prick, some people aint seen the film yet and just want to know a rating as thats what this site is about, that goes to all the other losers with opinions about the film, just rate it ffs.

Video and comment
Audio and comment
Movie and NO COMMENT as thats a spoiler.

Nothing worse than some wanker who's seen it wanting to
spoil it for others.

Sorry but I came to look on whats best one to see and some losers gone put crap assuming everyone who reads it will have
seen it, well give that guy dumbo of the year prize somebody!

[EDIT:: Seems a bit harsh it was a very small spoiler - Neversoft]

Posted by scousethief on 12-22-2004 12:12 PM:

now this is getting annoying
1 this release has a better picture better audio and all the subtitile

2 pots release is cropped doesnt have all the subtitles and in my opinion a worse picture

think some of you need to check your release names cos mines very good and has none of the problems apart from being slightly out of sync on cd2 for about 5 minutes ( downloaded cd2 3 times from different sources 1xftp and 2x irc also asked friend to download and he got same sync issue)

Nuked for being stolen source, not yet confirmed. Another nuke for SG18, would NOT suprise me in the least however. Try doing something orginal for a change. LMFAO!!

This version is nice and I liked it, until I saw the VCD version, I did make this one into a DVD. The brightness isn't a problem when compared to darker versions of any movie. When compared it is cleaner then all previous versions.

A few negative posts on this but it looked good enough to me.

Its not an MPEG1 to MPEG2 conversion, whoever thinks that hasn't a clue what they are talking about.

Just watched the full release.

Its not the best but is well watchable, a bit bright in places.

Video 7

Audio 8

moo

Good version, a little dark mainly due to the film being fairly dark lighting. only real problem is the audio drops out of sync for maybe 5 minutes just after half way and it kinda hurts your brain to watch. but other than that its good

7/6(cos of audio)/8 - its a good film :-D very funny
