A bit blocky and theres a copyright message across the bottom of the screen but it's pretty decent considering the movie aint out yet. Only seen the sample though so not sure about the "issues" mentioned in the .nfo

The movie is so shitty that it's definetely not worth being the first to release it. Overall, the quality of this release is poor. I'd suggest waiting if you want to see this movie (do you?)

Movie looks like crap

OK this movie is not crap i taught it is is prob the best hip hop film i have ever seen.

this rls is ok the copyright message is right at the bottom of the screen and didnt bother me at all. the sound has a bit of a hiss but it didnt bother me at all.
the video is alright and well watchable.

Hustle and flow

Other than static within the audio, it's a nice release...no worse than the longest yard screener...after all...it WAS recorded from a VHS cassette...I'd rate it ....7/5/7.

Based on sample

Video - Lacking in color, overall pretty dull. Isn't too bad in terms of pixellation. Only watermark so far is Property of Paramount across the bottom of the screen. However for this stage, on an unreleased film a good first effort!

Audio - a few issues here, is a bit hollow and there is most definately some background noise.

Movie - havent really looked into this one, will probably wait for a better copy.

Wow. I'm a bit suprised at some of the comments thus far, as I've been eagerly anticipating this film. Anyway, from the full release, here goes:

Video: 8
Really great picture. Not quite as good as some of the TCs we've seen right after some theatre releases(OT, but speaking of wich, did Saosin "retire", too?), but definately great for before the nationwide release. I would've busted a fat 'ol nut if it was a DVD Screener. Either way, thanx, ridaz.

Audio: 6
Audio was good, but too many static pops throughout the film. Might be cleanable tho.

Movie: 8
I liked it. I thought there were a few parts where the main character didn't fill his role as best as he should have, but still thouroughly enjoyed it. Maybe the reason I love this movie so much(as opposed to some of the other people who've posted their thoughts already) is because I can identify with it, being in the music industry(not the pimp part tho).

Overall: If you like rap, see this movie. If you like seeing someone hustle their way to their goal with dedication and aspiration and using whatever tools they can, watch this movie. There's more reasons, but I've said my part already. Keep up the good work, guyz!

just watched the sample, will update after watching the full movie.
video has Property of Paramount on the bottem, other than that nice for a vhs screener. audio is a little soft, might be the section from the sample. movie is suposed to be pretty good. release before theaters, nice work RIDERz.

watched it last night, i thought it was pretty good. the audio does have a bad static pop to it, and while it can be cleaned up, it seemed like the release has to much low end sound as a whole.
anyway.

video - colour is off, good none the less
audio- hisses and pops, plus u have to turn it up loud to hear, so its hard to ignore the pops
movie - lame, kinda kept going. main character Djay is haunted by an evil 808 drum beat that makes him take risks.

Alot of people don't know what the movie is about, and ALOT of people have their heads up there asses. It's not some rap movie or some black people doing something stereotypical. IT has a deep story line and deep characters. RottenTomatoes gave it good reviews to, I think 80% over all this weeks releases. So obviously someone out there (not just me) likes the movie.

See the movie first before talking out of your ass.

Just got done watching the movie. This movie is way better then I expected and my expectations were pretty low so..
As for the video it realy wasnt bad at all def. very watchable. For the audio I watched it on my pc using VLC player and if you go into Audio and then go to Audio Device and change it from Stereo to Mono theres barely any background noise at all.

just taking a quick scan yep the property of thing seems to be there the entire movie...

nope no occassional scrolling text. permenant tag line. however it is stationary and is near the bottom of the screen enough.that if someone cropped this part. you wouldn't miss much....

i'll check on the movie a bit later....and what's been said about the vid vid quality is dead on. so no need for me to add...

riderz(sp?) are first on block and i guess that counts for something...

just watched this whole release. for me it was very watchable. picture does get blocky at times..especially the last few minutes of the movie, it got choppy.

sound isn't bad. you do have to turn it up loud and there is some hissing but it goes away.

movie was aight too. dude gave a great performance.

overall a pretty good release for a movie that just came out today.

i really enjoyed this movie and not only cuz i like rap... and if you read alot of reviews from critics... they did give it a great rating. But I guess if you're judgmental on "these" types of movies... then maybe it's not your thing.

ok well I tried to watch this last night... too many drunkards around so I couldnt concentrate... but from 20 mins of cd1 I think the video is almost a typical scr quality, just a lil more pixelation, just soften up the pic a little on the tv, its better, the audio got annoying quickly, i guess they did thier best... oh well 7/4.5/7.5

::edit:: ok i just got done watching this on my computer screen with adjustable audio, more pixelation on the comp screen than on the 30" tv but with the sound control it wasnt as bad of a problem with the pops... up the bass a bit its ok... also my sound system wouldnt go very loud all the way up... unlike on the tv with 60's big ole wood floor record player hook up i had at my friends, oh well i stand by my tv rating and this pc rating, 6/5.5/7.5
The movie was good, but it must have a sequel planned, the ending was too abrupt... a pretty deep movie also, unlike most in the genre

one last thing that I noticed, this is an obvious TC scr, madd scene dots and such... found that a bit interesting, not unfound, but unusual

Bottom line........the movie was very good.

Compared to the Beautyshops,Honeymooners and Cookouts of the world this was Oscar caliber.

well it was a bad conversion, and yes I am new to the forum, but it was still poor quality.

A pre-release is still better than none...

My Two Cents...

Since I saw the commercials I wanted to see this movie. I wasn't disappointed... much. Btw, props to Riderz on the speedy release and if anyone from the group is reading this, dont take any of it personal

Audio - 6 - It's a VHS Screener but i've heard better audio from VHS Screeners. Seems like more attention was spent on speed than quality. I think a little more time spent on it would have yielded better audio. It was a bit staticy and was a bit annoying and the sound just wasn't good plain and simple

Video - 7 - Again, I know it's a VHS Screener but i've seen VHS Screeners with better video. And again, I think more time could have been spent on the quality instead of trying to rush it out.

Movie - 8 - Great acting and great story. I love it and cant wait for a DVDSCR or maybe a DVD Retail release. Hell, I might even go buy it

Ok first off this release is !@#$%^ is right.. OMG this a mislabeld TC if i have ever seen one. There is a Cam adjust right at the beginning. A fake as hell, stagnant PROPERTY OF PARAMOUNT PICTURES, no ticker and no black and white scenes. See Longest Yard Screener-VideoCD for a real paramount screener. Any how i guess its watchable. The audio cracks and pops and the video is dull and has the typical reel burns that would NOT be in a real Paramount screener. Easily watchable if u can bare the audio, but be WARNED. THIS IN NOT A SCREENER!!

i got a cleaned up audio dvdr version

picture was vhs quality sounds was decent, i actually had to grab some analog cables to get the sound to work it wouldnt work with my digital optical for some reason and i liked the movie

Producer John Singleton and others connected with the production of the just-released Hustle & Flow suspect that someone within the Paramount organization leaked a pristine print of the movie to bootleggers, who immediately made thousands of pirated DVDs from it, the New York Daily News reported today (Tuesday). Columnist Lloyd Grove said that he had received information from sources that 2,500 DVD copies have already been confiscated by authorities in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Charlotte and Dallas.


So not a tc, not a cam, not a screener, but a workprint. Funny that they refer to it as a "pristine copy" They must be comparing it to those MPAA cams

video- less than your 0bus screeners, but props for source and speed.

audio- watched this on sony standalone my friends were bitching all we could hear was hiss and pop. i'm sure watching on your pc you have options but would have much rather had TS audio or even cam sound.

Movie- like 8 mile, dirty south jamz ain't really my thing. thx but i'd wait for a better release or wait till this is shown on cable and your bored.

By Memphis being my hometown, they did a decent job. They build too much on the stereotype and nothing else, but great performance.

Downloaded some rar's and on my standalone, this movie is unwatchable (unlistenable??) because of the bad audio. Too much hissing and popping, will wait for a better release.

Not a bad release at all in my mind, the sound needs some work definatly but i didnt think the video was all that bad. And as for the movie i thought it was suck some serious balls, but it was highly entertaining and a great watch. All the damn great reviews where right and i was wrong, ill admit it!
