At last a watchable copy been holding out for this since Feb, typical R5 release great pic but hollow sound.

9/6/? watching tonight, should be great if SOTD is anything to go by

Great release. Video is very good, audio is properly synced but a bit hollow. Haven't seen the movie yet, but I heard it's really good.

9/7.5/?

Picture looks great sound has a bit of a echo and overall is just a bit dull, but this is definately watchable.

9/6/? Gonna watch it tonight.

Wow. Hello PUKKA. Superb video. Full color and excellent resolution. Audio does not quite match up. Some hollowness but excusable. The Wright person of Shaun fame makes it a must see. Will be enjoyable with this quality rlse.

9/6.5/? Am watching now.

Have seen movie. Enjoyable but not at the Shaun level. m 7

This film got released on the 20th in USA and in Canada so this is a quick welcome for me. Just got the sample and here is what I thought of it:

Video: 9 (Great Video Quality)

Audio: 7 (Hollow, but direct. Good enough for me)

Movie: ? (Will watch this release, so I might change the score on the movie)

Very nice. Great video, and very decent audio considering it's external
Gonna watch the full thing tonight

8.5/7/x

edit: just finished watching
while the audio is generally clear and such, the mix isn't so good and all the voices/noises/sounds are basically the same volume so it detracts a bit from the viewing experience. movie wasn't bad at all

rescore: 8.5/6.5/7

Posted by missyprissy on 04-29-2007 09:47 PM:

10/5/?

skimmed through it and the video is perfect but the audio leaves alot to be desired. you can hear everything but it sounds like listening to music through a telephone. dialog is fine but whenever there is background music its very rough sounding and gave me a headache trying to listen to it.

wish I had subs for this, i'd probably turn off the sound and just read the subs. to give somethign to compare to, quality wise the audio on the mvs TS of Next is alot more listenable. I know they're different movies but just using that as a way to say if you've heard that release, dont except this movie to be as clear.
something about the audio on this makes it hard to listen too. and i'm not usually very picky as I've watched a ton of cams and put up with them.

Posted by OSH on 04-29-2007 10:12 PM:

Ok release. The audio sounds fine through my one computer speaker and the video is nice. They got this out with a quickeness, it just came out here.

Quick release, but...

Just wanted to point out that this is going to be nuked. The movie is 1 hour 56 minutes long, but this release only uses one CD. Scene rules are damn clear on this one: it should take up two CDs.

Still, thank god we finally have a good quality release of this, particularly with the full opening sequence.

Posted by Ace25 on 04-29-2007 10:26 PM:

Video was great, audio not so much but tolerable.. kinda muffled and hard to understand at times.. as for the movie.. well, one of those "If you have seen the preview you have seen every good part in the movie" types. 2 hour movie and first 1-1/2 hours dragged on.

Actually any PAL source that is 105 minutes or more MAY be put onto 2 CD's - it HASN'T GOT TO BE be on 2 CD's - that is the rippers discretion. If 5.1 Eng audio was available then I'm sure it would have been a 2CD release.

Converted this to DVD and watched it on TV.

V: 9 (No complaints here - nuked reasons w/e who cares)

A: 6 ... The audio starts off a bit muffled, bass-y and loud. It's still OK though. At 1hour 35minutes, the audio drastically changes to hollow, tinny and very trebble-y. Each one is as good as the other, but as i said drastically different, so be ready for that when it changes.

M : 6 .. Meh, i was hoping for more after all the hype!

maybe its just me but how can they get hold of the proper dvd to rip the video yet not the audio? surely if they can get one it would come with the other?... hmmm, im sure theres a reason, you seem 2 get this secondary audio source spliced onto the video on alot of R5's... anyone know?

After watching full release as before pic excellent audio bland and hollow and movie very dissappointing (not terrible but certainly not in the same league) after the brilliant Shaun of the dead.

because the source is R5.... region 5 dvd. Some have english audio tracks, most dont, mostly russian audio, if there was english audio available on the dvd there would be english audio on the rip, theyre not just trying to fuck with ya, i promise.

video 9 nice and crisp.
audio 7 could be better, but it hardly sounds like "listening to music through a telephone" as someone earlier claimed.
Movie ? havent watched yet.

Blotchy as hell. Should be a 2 cd rls but with the substandard audio it's understandable why it wasn't.

ahhh... didnt think of that, of course... some do, some dont... this obviously didnt have english audio... was thrown off with the fact its an english film, id have thought out of any that this would have had it... no worries... its very watchable anyway.. props 2 pukka, cheers

Reason the Video got a 8 instead of a 9 was cause at one point 2 or 3 seconds of the video like repeats itself but the audio still goes as if it hasnt, but then goes back to normal. I think the audio might of been from 2 different TS if so, im sure they had a good reason and I appreciate them putting the extra time in. And of course, movie gets a 10

Posted by Spetz on 04-30-2007 03:25 PM:

V - 8 (blocky at times ,not very sharp at all ,but decent for 1CD and 1h 55m runtime)

A - 6 (average at start ,gets worse in the final quarter of the movie. Movie deserves more ,128kb/s VBR is a bit too much if you ask me ,should have had it at 96kb/s or even less ,would make no difference for sound, but help the video a bit)

M - 7 (dissapointing ,I had high expectations for this.Trailer showed every funny bit imaginable ,and all you are left with is random giggle at most)

Posted by kaythreetwo on 04-30-2007 10:18 PM:

V 9 (considering its only just out in the states and the only other thing you can get is a crappy cam with the first few mins missing.. its great.. as close to dvd quality you're going to get with an early release)

A 6 (slightly hollow, and sometimes its a bit hard to hear what's being said, it doesn't help that the actual sound in the movie is hella loud, but its still tolerable.. doesn't detract too much from the experience)

M 8 (thought it was really great but I was expecting a lot better after Shaun)

Posted by magnet on 05-01-2007 08:34 AM:

V - 10, really great looking. Very pleased with the picture.

A - 6, it's all there but as so many have said it's hollow. Everything's the same volume, if you don't mess with your mixerr settings you're liable to miss a lot of what's said due it to being the exact volume of the clangy background music.

M - 8, been a big fan of Spaced and Shaun of the Dead. This movie had funny moments but it wasn't as good as either of the those. On it's own though it still stands as a good movie.

If you are using vlc player to play this, I suggest using the headphones setting under the equalizer. It sound a little better than without. Just a tip

video quality is very good except at a point where the movie loops for a few seconds...not bad but it is there...the audio takes a huge dive at 1hr 34mins...goes from direct audio to very tinny like someone pulled the headphone jack half out....major difference in audio from there to the end....

someone plz get a direct audio source for this... its a very decent flick and deserves direct audio 100% through...i fixed the glitched section with my vid editing proggy so that wasnt a problem but the audio i couldnt fix so i gotta deal for now...

great job in getting it out just hope a PROPER comes out soon

Posted by pixie on 05-13-2007 01:20 PM:

Well I finally got to watch this hyped up movie so here are the scores...
VIDEO: 8 or 9. (Pretty damn good. A little dark sometimes.)
AUDIO: 5 or 6. (Very hollow bassy sound and sometimes going tinny too. Not a nice audio track at all but with a bit of messing about with equalising I managed to make it a bit better.
MOVIE: 6. (No it isn't as funny as their first but the worst thing about this movie is that, just when you think it is going to end, and it should end, it drags on for a whole lot longer. Totally outstays it's welcome and eventually becomes boring and irritating!)
