Great Pic.and.Sound. On the sample.

Nice WS clear Pic and Dir.Commentary to boot. Too bad its NOT the UNCUT version Looks like the US does NOT get to indulge in that. Oh well, I love this film!!

8.5/9/9 One of the Best ENDINGS EVER!!

too bad its the R-rated R1 cut of the film and is NUKED on most sites for NOT working properly or even at all. Like i said i will wait for the UNCUT UK version to be released.

Posted by Killa_VN on 01-26-2005 11:58 AM:

can ne1 confirm whether this is uncut version or not

Does anyone know why it won't play on most players? Might grab it to see if I can patch it.

HAHA... Nuke no, patch yes... People are so wasteful these days and quick to destroy anything for the slightest problem.

Worked fine on my player. Hmm, if it was so nuked, how did I get this one? HMM...

Anyways, not the best release for these guys, but it is afterall their first release (at least that I've seen).

As for the unrated thing... I am sure we're not missing much. The runtime difference between the 2 versions is two minutes (according to IMDb "102 min / USA:100 min", which typically means 102 mins, re-edit for US 100 mins). Probably something sick that I can live without myself. But I am curious what that stuff is. All I know is, seen the movie as is, and is one of the best thrillers I've seen in a long time.

Nice bitrate too! Nice to see a group that really likes those numbers high...

If this doesn't work on your player, I am sure there will be a patch soon for all the Walmart and RadioShack brand players. Probably a VTS sector issue, or something minor.

These cheap Chinese/Taiwanese/Far East players are sometimes better than the more expensive models because they know their customers will be using discs of dubious origin (knock off, dodgy DVDs, etc ).

I'm going to get this now so I can have a play around with it.

hehe... I know that some far east jobs are good (APEX are the best cheap players around). I'm knocking on Oritron, ElectroHome, Symphonic, Citizen, Fisher, Magnasonic, Aspire, Desay, Frito-Lay, Panasonic and the one I saw in the JC Penny flyer for $18.99. Even at the cheapest age of VHS, never did I see a VCR for less than $40-50.

Personally, no player I know of competes with a DVI out connection from a computer using PowerDVD. Maybe one of those HD-DVD players (they are the ones with 720P out, but only play regular DVDs). Anyone know if these are any good?

The first Cam of this was the Uncut Version, and only had a little extra glimse of gore here and there if i remeber. Can't really say what without giving away plot, but its enough to make me wait
I'll prolly have to buy this one though as horrors are more shocking with DTS, wich is almost always stripped.

And if you want to experiment with different DVD players, just take your most stubborn to play rip to an electronics store on a weekday afternoon and try to play it on the different models until it works and your happy. They even knocked the tax off for me after they convinced me to leave the disk i was testing

Take a CD full of MP3s, an SVCD disc and if you have it a PAL DVD or DivX as well. Sometimes manufacturers "hide" features. They don't want us to have too much fun.

Posted by Gumpa on 01-27-2005 02:32 AM:

Solid release (after the fix of course)

8/8/3

Nice rip, weak flick.

Posted by Extractor on 01-27-2005 07:04 AM:

fix works for me

Posted by coldconfession1 on 01-27-2005 07:22 AM:

is the fix supposed to be able to not let you select the special feature button. cause i know after i applied im still able to. and when i played the movie i got the directors comment playing instead of the original audio. had to change the audio track.

Posted by dekehead on 01-27-2005 07:33 AM:

Movie works flawless on all of my players with the ppf fix.. Overall a solid rip of a movie worth watching on a rainy day... Although it did try to attempt to bring back the Se7en mystique.

Posted by Athlon64 on 01-27-2005 07:50 AM:

Great Movie 10/10/10

I didn't need the fix as it played fine the first time..

Posted by on 01-27-2005 09:52 AM:

anyone know how to turn off the sub tittles? :|

Posted by Extractor on 01-27-2005 10:00 AM:

The links in special features aren't selectable anymore. Of course they could have done the whole button away since there's nothing left but at least you can't select missing stuff anymore. Audio English was selected here and subs were off here on my Pioneer and Sony. Could depend on the player. Non-fixed it didn't play on either one. Well I personally wait for the uncut version anyways.

Posted by source on 01-27-2005 03:25 PM:

Unhappy

yea directors comments are on by default.

Posted by gargleroadside on 01-27-2005 05:28 PM:

Glitch and fix not working properly

A few users on another forum have noticed that the fix does not work correctly too. It made the default audio the Director's commentary. Some other users have noticed a glitch at 1:00:32 for about a second. A guy called scoopex has grabbed it and posted it.

http://img173.exs.cx/img173/3183/sawglytch0fq.jpg

Ah, well. I'll have to give this a miss now. Nice try ANiPUNK. Looks like the nukers were right.

Posted by Extractor on 01-27-2005 06:05 PM:

dang, that video glitch sucks. Although the commentary thingie doesn't happen here but I see that video glitch. That's definitely annoying.

Posted by boscorelle on 01-27-2005 09:16 PM:

video glitch is burn-related not release related -- just tested on 2 standalone-players both fine

I dunno why that glitch happens. It happens at the same time, but not in the exact same spot as the screenshot shows (shows up on the other guy in the room). I check it direct from the IMG file and not even burned on DVD-Rs yet. Something happens at 1:00:32, even if you use PowerDVD... Dunno. Anyone else? It only lasts like 0.5 seconds, so it's not too bad.

Posted by Fire_Sokar on 01-28-2005 09:30 AM:

aside from the minor glitching its an ok release. Hopefully someone puts out an Perfect release for the collectors.

Posted by coldconfession1 on 01-28-2005 02:24 PM:

yea the video glitch. i hope another release comes out. i dont know if another patch can help but im not sure you can put 2 patches on the image cause i already put the first one on there.

Posted by on 01-29-2005 12:42 AM:

so theres no way to turn off the sub tittles??

An admin of another forum at first didn't believe there was a glitch either, so he decided to double check again after others still said there was. He mounted the original IMG (with Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%) and played it. He reported back that is does glitch. For him it was at 0:59:26.

Well if the "collectors" liked this movie and want a "perfect" release they should make a trip to the store on 2/15 and get a copy.

Posted by tylerhskate on 01-30-2005 03:33 AM:

mine plays the director's comment. there better be a way to fix this ON the dvd because if not i wasted another damn dvd on a movie download

That is what most do, but until it retails it is still fun to collect a perfect release.

oh the horror. he's mad. there 'better be a way to fix this' or what? you gonna boycott downloading movies? you gonna send a letter to the studio declaring how pissed off you are at wasting a 30 cent blank dvd?

1 fuckin post and your bitching... go back to wherever you just came from.

this should do for now. doesnt seem like nobody else is going to do a proper encode for this movie. i hope someone does if not then its alright.

Posted by FrightfoO on 02-12-2005 12:56 PM:

Yeah, doesn't look like there's gonna be a proper which is a shame really. Hehe, I noticed that CiMG (ed2k release group) used the same DVDR for their rip too.

It's open for anyone to do a proper in the future.
