I forgot about ftf with all these Centropy TSz, TEG screeners, and TCF DVD-rIpz

this release is watchable...

Posted by SpankyDaPimp on 05-26-2002 04:42 PM:

Man... I never thought i would live to see the day where FTF put out a DECENT release (TS, or CAM). I always bashed them and never even bothered with their releases, but this one actually does look pretty nice.
Good job FTF. Keep it up....
(i think a lot of the TS should be recorded with the LIGHTS ON in the theater (remember that Mission Impossible 2 "screener" that was a TS with the lights on? damn it was good) (assuming you have access to do that with the lights) and wide screen in a DV camera encoded to SVCD. It doesnt seem THAT much more difficult to do then making a reg TS and it would be a LOT better. Even the centropy SVCD releases look funny when there are bright lights, it whites out everything else. I think this setup would HELP this problem a little. Just my thoughts. Any comments?

seems to me that ftf got a new camera

More like FTF got a new group. Kudos to them for getting a brain.

Posted by VonRashniek on 05-26-2002 05:43 PM:

new camera?

when will you dumb ppl realize, ftf doesnt do their own filming.
my friend gets same movies as they do, from a flea market, she gets them either same day as they do, or a day later. they are tapes, and dvds off the streets in NY. so if you think they do their own stuff.... think again.
and this is not a flame at ftf. it's just facts. nice release tho, not too shabby.

this is a very good release, and the movie itself is excellent. FTF props to you on this.

Posted by kwantum on 05-26-2002 07:49 PM:

jesus

i know this is off-topic and goes against the point i am about to make, but i think x69 should make a rule that you can only post if you've at least seen a sample, none of this "screenshot looks great" crap. people can click the jpeg button and see that much for themselves.

Posted by Rizel on 05-26-2002 08:24 PM:

Yeah, looks good, but did'nt we have all this before with FTF and there 'New Cams'? Was it 'Time Machine' or 'Res Evil' people were giving them mad props for?

Anyways, well done to erm for putting out a decent release in good time, hope they continue to do so as CTP can'nt do every film! Rizel

there is no way to check to see who saw the sample...

anyway.... the movie looks good.. heard it was an amazing movie.. can't wait to see this...

Jpgs

Just to let you know, you aren't the only one that can look at the jpg's of the movies. We all have eyes and can see the jpg's perfectly fine. I don't need you telling me what the jpg looks like.

Until FTF releases in svcd like Centropy, they will never be #1.

That'll work? How are you supposed to tell people have seen the sample. I agree with you, that i dont think people should post unless they have actually seen the movie tho, but theres no way to really check that.

Posted by toohey on 05-26-2002 10:16 PM:

damn, just when i thought it was good....they pull this crap again....well, it's watchable--sound ok, pic is avg-kinda dark sometime.....nothing special....just don't expect it to be spectacular

Posted by ShifTeR on 05-26-2002 10:26 PM:

pic is nice - a little bit stretched. sound is watchable, but a bit hollow. possibly a mislabelled cam. either way props to ftf and i'm gonna watch it with no problems.

Posted by Stormz on 05-26-2002 10:30 PM:

Thumbs up Insomnia FTF

Very good for next day release... Pic is very clear sound is a bit hollow but still enjoyable.. Nice good release and for free what can u complain anyway

What a stupid idea. Yes, we all wish the only people who could VOTE would be people who've seen at least a sample, but there are lots of other worthwhile comments to make that are of interest to us (and the groups) that can be made without having seen the sample/movie (the group's history, speed, initial thoughts about the jpegs or the movie itself). Not everybody has access like you, but that doesn't make their posts meaningless, even in a "vcdquality" forum.

REVIEW: I agree with the others. Sound is a tad hollow, but perfectly in sync. I prefer a wide(r) screen, and a lot is missing on the sides here-- but the focus is great. Often the video's frame rate appears a little off (like 20 fps). But this is a FINE release. Unlike some other recent releases (Spirit, Sum of All Fears, Enough) this one is definitely worth watching AS IS. Time to make some popcorn. THANK YOU FTF for another "Faster Than Fuck" release!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by losman21282 on 05-27-2002 12:04 AM:

Everything is decent but i don't know why anybody would try to film it as a 4:3 and cut out shit on the sides.

Posted by Scorpion on 05-27-2002 12:15 AM:

Pretty good, looks like FTF is finally using a PAL camera. There is some weird flashing in the sample, 45 seconds in. Sound is a little hollow.

Posted by Soprano_Man on 05-27-2002 12:40 AM:

HERE IS A REAL REVIEW

You people are stupid. The point of these comments is to tell how the movie was, not "hoping that it is good" or saying "the jpeg looks awesome." People are not looking for those gay comments. I ACTUALLY WATCHED THE MOVIE .
Pro: This was FTF's best release ever.
Con: The movie was a little too dark. It was a tad bit out of sync, but one doesn't really notice it.
Overall: Very good release as well as the movie. And all you guys are homosexuals. Peace Out

You're Stuped! Who the fuck do you think you are to say i am stuped???

Dear "Peace Out,"

You are a major loser.

UPDATED REVIEW: I was misled by the excellent sample-- this is *not* FTF's best release ever (I vote for "High Crimes"). The sound IS perfectly in sync (on tv), but the camera is too zoomed-in: we lose about 50% of the picture on the sides. Many scenes have two characters talking, but we don't see either character, just empty space in the middle. Both focus and sound quality run hot and cold-- a few times I felt like the Pacino character while watching it. Maybe it was an artistic statement.....?

If no other version shows up, it's definitely watchable, but I don't think the sample is representative of the vcd's quality. Leecher beware!

Mad props to FTF for speed, as always. Nobody does it faster.

Posted by tim087 on 05-27-2002 05:51 AM:

great movie, good book, decent release. Thanks FTF

Posted by CheMicaLz on 05-27-2002 09:07 AM:

Talking hmmmz...

HhMmz, well i come here often to read everyone's post and get a laugh sometimes, this is my first time posting here, well I just wanted to say, I don't like this release, I hope ctp releases this movie, I heard it's pretty good, but all in all good job FTF!

Posted by reverend on 05-27-2002 09:34 AM:

Do you really miss about 50% of the picture because it's cropped? To me that's got to be a major annoyance, especially if there are scenes where you can't see one or more of the actors

Posted by Aphex2 on 05-27-2002 10:49 AM:

hmmmmmm now i dont know if i wanna download this. someone said the screen is missing 50% of the picture?? Well if that guy is lying he should be banned, if not ill wait for centropy

Posted by Boomer187 on 05-27-2002 07:55 PM:

He is just exagerating when he says 50%.....but there is a lot missing on the sides. I would definatly wait for the centropy. I watched the whole thing and was kinda pissed I did. The focus starts to go out during scenes, and that doesn't just happen once or twice. There are a couple o scenes where you don't see people talking cause it is cropped, and a couple o scenes where it is too dark.

During the first 20 mins though it is really good quality.....for ftf.

So wait for a better copy to come up.

Posted by moviebootlegger on 05-27-2002 08:10 PM:

well i was wrong i judged this on the pic alone. THIS RELEASE IS BAD. not very good quality as all. for FTF its an improvement over the last couple of shitty rls's. yes u do lose alot of picture i duno if its 50% of it but u lose some is all i can c. DONT JUDGE THIS CRAP BY PIC THE REAL PIC SUX0Rz. the sound its pretty good though. some people might say its watchable i think not. they tryed to encode it all bright and shit but its still a dark pic clouded by alot of brightness. thas my review its very accurate. nice rls FTF but keep trying harder

Posted by KILLERX on 05-27-2002 08:13 PM:

TOO BRIGHT

RELEASE IS OKAY EXCEPT THE VIDEO IS A BIT TOO BRIGHT
I HOPE CTP WILL RLS A SVCD !!!!!!

Posted by PaulAAtreides on 05-27-2002 11:04 PM:

Thumbs down ah

ah,

please stop judging this movie by the damn jpgs!!! after watching all of cd1 and cd2, it is too bright, it out of focus at several points, and cropped badly on the sides..

THIS IS NO COMPARISON TO CENTROPY!!! .....

try to watch the whole damn film before giving this movie over a 7 rating.....at best, 5.5-6 if you actually watched damn film!

Paul

...and that is why people should WAIT until they watch the film before judging it. You had to go BACK and re-edit your comments because you judged by sample.

I waited until I watched both cds, then noticed bad cropping, "out of focus" at several moments, and the brightness issue. This is by far, no where near FTFs best work, neither is High Crimes.

If you haven't seen Van Wilder, than you can't say High Crimes is their best work -- Van Wilder is, period. Everything else is sh*t, watchable, but sh*t.

Posted by Lsd on 05-28-2002 12:51 AM:

its gay

this release sucks!

for those of you who gave this an 7... you should be shot... you obvisously have down syndrome or suffer from other kind of retardation

ftf rls's are early... but not worth burning to cd or even wasting bandwidth

I can't believe ppl are complaining about the pic being cropped...I mean yeah your gonna miss a bit of the screen, but nothing to pee your panties over. I can tell SOME of the users are spoiled newbies that are only used to Centropy's Widescreen versions and other groups current use of Widescreen also.

I remember back in the day 3 years ago when a cracka would get a rls from groups such as Europe-VCD and it would be shot like this. Yeah you miss a bit of the screen, but you made due with what you had, and ppl enjoyed the rls at the time. Now everyone is spoiled with nice widescreens, and think it's a crime to have a movie that is centered on the screen. Well, take what you can get, or go and shoot the movie in the theatre yourselves and try to make it widescreen, its not as easy as it may seem, so I'm told.

Until then, enjoy this release, sure its not gonna be the best, but its the best out there as of this moment...
...holy balls Batman, I can't believe I just defended FTF....that Heroin was tha shizzle!

Posted by belinoff on 05-29-2002 07:15 AM:

shitty video and decent sound
i give it a 5 for video and 7 for audio

Posted by ml1ml1 on 05-31-2002 06:31 PM:

FTF-Insomnia: don't waste time

no-contrast picture, impossible to make out any details in the dark scenes, plus the usual tinny sound of a cam release makes this release a waste of bandwitdth.

Posted by MovieGod on 06-01-2002 12:35 AM:

film in the theatre was dark...movie was dark...and its not FTF's fault....sure CTP's slightly better..but film is the same.....
