Plain and simple it was a good rls...everyone quit fighting and starting nonsense....bottom line good video and audio good job obus....
8/9/8
The audio is not out of sync, and overall not a bad release.
watched the whole movie yeasterday, not bad, I for one liked the story line.
I just don't understand how come groups insist on encoding screeners to VCD,(low resolution), and then use 1150 CBR instead of a multipass VBR, for better vid quality. At least the same quality as the source, but most times done properly,it can come out better than VHS quality.
The result is a soft pic with occasional noise in dark scenes, hence my 7 in video quality. The audio is good, but nothing special, I mean it was just a matter of capturing off the VHS.
This is definately not a nuke item, and the best one for this movie.

Nice job OBUS
good video, nice clean audio.
First sample was out of sync, samplefix is fine, although it might at first seem out of sync very slightly, too hard to tell, maybe? not bad enough to worry about if it indeed is, this is a very nice release!

Cant wait to finish watching this!
NO - it's not out of Sync. Had a few audio glitches/sound pause like for a second then continues on - might be my Apex too. Pretty good quality VHS rip. Movie was excellent.
Video - 8
Audio - 8
Movie - 8.5
Few "For your consideration" watermark.
all recent obus rlses have audio glitches and lock-ups on more picky player because their not 100% vcd compliant. damn shame too because they rls the only movies worth watching :/
Big Fish CD1 RAR file corruption part27
Just thought I would get the word out that part 27 of the RAR files for CD1 is coming up corrupted... looking for just that part to finish CD1.
BTW - as for VCD compliance.... just pull out the .MGP file and create a true VCD with it using another program..I have done it before and it has worked great. Used vcdgear...
my disc 1 has a corrupt archive (r27 ;( ) but i looked at t he sampler and disc 2, and they look great.
can't wait to see it all ;]
I downloaded But
CD 1 Bin is corrupt. Any Fixes. Ill be very thankful for any help
Cd 1 Bin Corrupt
Downloaded it and Cd 1 Bin Corrupt. Any fixes. Any Help Would be Great
solution: when extracting, just check "keep broken files". other than the audio pops, i saw nothing currupted about this release. honestly one of the best vhs rips i've ever seen...colours were kinda dull, kinda like watching a UK TV show over here in canada. other than that, video looked perfect on my TV...
movie was good, not great, imo...nice holiday story though...my parents and wife liked it...

For some reason...I had problems downloading this one also. Either Winrar had problems or missing rars or no rars present at all. I have heard on some downloades that the RAR had a _ at the end and that if you got rid of the _ that winrar would recognize the file. Anyway I ended up downloading a regular windows media file and coverting it to mpeg. Quality seemed very good to me ....I didnt watch the whole movie but I did watch all of cd1 and part of cd2 and I couldnt find any problems with it. Looks like a good release to me.

Movie - ? Good so far
great rls OBUS. i give it 8/8.5/?.
i know i might be a bit late on this but i DID have SYNC ISSUES on cd 1 . I just watched this at a friends house on his sony that plays vcds fine. I didn't notice any problems untill around 40+ min at which point i noticed a build up of almost a 1 second lag. Will also test on apex. This issue seemed to correct itself alittle on cd2 but even at the beginning i noticed an offset. Hopefully someone will pr0per or better yet wait for dvd screener. Great looking video
8/5/8 good flick reminds me of a bunch of good flix combined into one big movie salad
Watched it on PC, no sync issues. Great quality and a great movie.

plonk420,
Video CD 2.0
About two years after the Video CD 1.1 specification came out in,1993, an improved Video CD 2.0 standard was published in 1995. This one added the following items to the features already available in the Video CD 1.1 specification:
Support for MPEG segment play items (SPI), consisting of still pictures, motion pictures and/or audio (only) streams was added..
Support for interactive playback control (PBC) was added.
Support for playing related access by providing a scan point index file was added. (`/EXT/SCANDATA.DAT')
Support for closed captions.
Support for mixing NTSC and PAL content.
By adding PAL support to the Video CD 1.1 specification, the following resolutions became available:
352 x 240 @ 29.97 Hz (NTSC SIF).
352 x 240 @ 23.976 Hz (FILM SIF).
352 x 288 @ 25 Hz (PAL SIF).
For segment play items the following audio encodings became available:
Joint stereo, stereo or dual channel audio streams at 128, 192, 224 or 384 kbit/sec bit-rate.
Mono audio streams at 64, 96 or 192 kbit/sec bit-rate.
Also the possibility to have audio only streams and still pictures was provided. The bit-rate of multiplex-ed streams should be kept under 174300 bytes/sec (except for single still picture items) in order to accommodate single speed drives.
These specs you are speaking of are a decade old.
And were created for the hardware and technology of that time. Advances in technology doubles aproximately every 5 years, and the hardware of today have surpassed those standards, and in fact have demanded a standard of their own. A good example of this is the great importation of low-end DVD players, world wide from Asia, where VCD and SVCD are more common than DVD.
In 2000, the SVCD standard was created to accomadate this influx, for economical reasons and also the hardware of Western specifications and formats, ie: DVD's.
This is always the case, the advances in hardware will always demand a rewriting of the specifications to accommodate it.
The 1995 standards are near obsolete as is the hardware in which it was written for, you can expect a change within the specs., and only because the hardware will demand it from us, and is demanding it now. CBR was demanded by the single speed drives.
Anything that is written, ( software, programs, or even specs.) are written to accomodate the hardware, The hardware is not made for that which is written.
Change is a good thing.
I have talked too long, sorry,

but anywho, if they're gonna make out-of-spec VCD-like MPEGs, they might as well *go* VBR
This is a good release, everything is good audio, video and movie.. this is a must get...

finally picked this up, was waiting for a proper or a dvd scr (like others obus releases have major audio problems on my standalone), but i wanted to see this so i picked it up, great rls video and sound (minus the fact that its not vcd compliant).

regarding academy screeners
anyone else notice the markings on cd2, in the first few seconds right over ewan mcgregors shoulder you can see the 'mpaa dots.' now usually these are on theatrical prints, but does anyone have any info on wheter or not any studios are using this type marking for identifying screeners? it would be a shame to see obus lose their supplier, they've been releasing alot of good screeners this season.

I just watched this and it is a great movie, but this release has a few spots that skips and the sound makes a weird sound when the frames skip. very odd! 7/6.5/9

Reality Is Only A State Of Mind...
I thought before watching this, I would hate it, and find it very boring. Wow, was I surpirsed to find that I liked the movie, and it quickly passed the time.
The quality was decent for normal vhs screeners that I have seen. based of that, I rate the following: 7/7/8
pretty good release from OBUS.
i was a little late in obtaining this film but i was truly impressed by the storyline which kept me hooked throughout! excellent directing and a gr8 performance from Ewan McGregor, also nice to see cameo roll for Steve Buscemi
video is decent quality, most definately watchable, however it does get a little blurry and pixelated in darker scenes and in long distance shots. "For Your Consideration" also pops up a the bottom of the screen a few times aswell, but overall good.
audio was excellent, i noticed none of the sync problems which have been reported with this screener.
Video: 7
Audio: 9.5
Movie: 9.5
