just finished watching this movie. amazing flick and this rls did it justice.

Posted by naked_eye on 03-02-2002 05:21 PM:

They are always releasing

I think that Centropy are always releasing, they just choose to only release good movies, and of decent quality. (They have standards)
Thanks Centropy!

PS Nothing against groups that throw anything they can regardless of quality, some people dont care about quality and only want a fast release.

i have a problem...every time i burn a centrophy release to vcd the sound and video are out of sync...it happend with not another teen movie, lord of the rings, orange county, and col damage.this doesnt happen with any other group releases only centrophy...how do i fix it?
i have an apex 5131 dvd player.

Posted by naked_eye on 03-03-2002 02:44 AM:

No problem here

I also have a 5131, and dont have a problem, I unrar and burn with CDRWin.

Posted by mag22 on 03-03-2002 03:07 AM:

WOW Fast and Sweet!

I hope this starts a trend of smoking fast and VHS quality releases by Centropy. Audio is on par with Collateral Damage and the visuals are sharper. Movie is also a suprise with more blood than a Quake 3 Deathmatch. 8 outta 10.

Just watched that movie, reminded me of my cousin who died in 'nam, i remember as a 6 yr old the day our family found out, on the way home from a family gathering, all i remember mom punchin the chevelle 350 to the wood saying why this has to happen..
Movie was very sad for me and my wife, he was in the same division as those in the movie.
Hope u younger guys realize what our fathers did to make this country today what it is and not what it could of been.
I found a website tonight about my cousin for the first time....

http://www.virtualwall.org/db/BreskiJx01a.htm

Thanks Mel for bringin back another great movie about our forgotten hero's

Posted by kyk on 03-04-2002 04:17 AM:

People on their side died too. Why must we always glorify ourselves as the heros? It's time we stop manufacturing nationalism and show that we too are the terrorists. Only then will enough people react to bring a change for the better...

Anyway, awesome video for TS but sound could be slightly better. Great release.

Centropy releases and APEX

The problem apears to be something to do with Centropy releases are encoded in PAL, and the APEX is not handling the PAL to NTSC converion well. Not sure of the fix, but turning off the dynamic compression stuff in the Dolby Digital settings may help.

Posted by misfits138 on 03-04-2002 07:56 AM:

well..how would you go about encoding it to ntsc?would be take very long?

Posted by eST0r on 03-04-2002 08:39 AM:

I don't think I have a right to post on this thread, people who know me know my thought on it, I watched the movie for the sake of it... good going Centropy, I hope you start releaseing more...yea... well I thought the intro was a bit loud more than that annoying NES sound heh, well I liked the release good enough, just wish I had a PAL player, Computer2vcd sucks! Well I've spoken my late but effortful post/comment I think I'll rate this piece of release a 6/10! take care Centropy, whatever is keeping ya from hiding, or keeping you from not releasing be it yourselfs or something else, take care to the few I knew...

Smile

If anyone is interested in a cover for the movie, I have made one. It's uploaded here: http://www.geocities.com/dvdmasterz2002/soldiers5.jpg

It may be a little big, but better on pixel quality when made smaller in printing software.

Thumbs up neato

good job on the rls. sound is managable witha tweak of the old tv speakers. while never sacrificing quality for 0 day, its good to see ctp get a jump on a good movie asap. and props to ftf for comin on strong lately.

Posted by sukmynut on 03-04-2002 09:05 PM:

if everyone put out releases like ctp does i could die a happy man

Posted by Ruciz on 03-04-2002 10:31 PM:

misfits138, if its not encoded to NTSC, its PAL.. encoding takes a while depending on your system power. If your running anything below a 1 Gig with less than 256 ram, I wouldn't even bother.. it would probably take a while with that machine to encode both discs to NTSC from a PAL. Read more at vcdhelp.com about how to do it.

For the Video going out of sync, it could be the program that you use to burn the VCD's with. I noticed that Nero was doing that to some releases, so I got DAEMON tools.I just load the CUE into that, and then burn from my Virtual CD-ROM drive directly to the CD. It takes an extra 5 min or so, (nero isn't the fastest file verification) But the VCD's don't go out of sync anymore for me! Could just be for me though too. Got an Apex 700 player. Feel free to try it and see what happens.

Problems with some players and Centropy

The problem appears to be the PAL to NTSC conversion, Centropy releases in PAL format. Most others are NTSC.

LOL!!! You dont have a clue. Where did you get that line, T.V. or school? So kyk ( aka John Lennon ) when your done basking in the thoughts of a utopian society, grab your gun and gear and fall in!!!!

Good movie, good quality 7.5/10

PAL?

I have a Pioneer that has no PAL (fuckin Pioneer did not include a NTSC/PAL switch in the North American models) support and all CTP, including this one, are fine. I have had no sync problems. I am using CDRWin to burn but I have seen Nero burn with sync problems.

The quality of this is really nice. I did'nt notice anyone mention the buttom of the screen cut off which fucks up the sub-titles however. Some outdoor scenes a bit to bright but that is expected and I have seen much much worst. You really have to appreciate the great color in this release.

Once again CTP put out a kick ass release, wish they would do more. OH...and could have done without the lame intro but that can easily be ripped out.

Posted by rotorman67 on 03-11-2002 03:24 PM:

The audio synch problem with ctp releases is caused solely by playing them on Apex players. I used to have an APEX 500D and all of my ctp releases were out of synch. Took the Apex back and got a GE 1101P and then everything played perfectly with the GE. This GE model is still being sold at most Wal-marts and is upgradeable via the GE users group on Yahoo. Check the DVD player rankings at vcdhelp.com for a good player.

Posted by rotorman67 on 03-11-2002 03:34 PM:

To Bud-Man: You were 6 years old when your cousin died in 'Nam? How long was he in 'Nam before he died? 1 year? 2 years? How old were you when you last saw him? 4 years old? Do you actually even remember him? I'm not trying to make light of your family's loss but you seem to be awfully emotional about it for someone you couldn't have really known.

I can greatly respect anyone who served in Vietnam but it was still the wrong war at the wrong time and it split this nation apart because of it. Did you ever hear of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War organization? These were veterans who served their country honorably and came to feel that the war was unwinnable and we were paying too high a price to be there. Ron Kovic (he wrote “Born on the Forth of July”) was a member of this organization. (Remember the Tom Cruise movie?) I guess you’d call him a loser and dickhead too? Or maybe a cripple loser and dickhead?

Bud-man, those other two posters didn’t attack you personally and your foul-mouthed raging response was out of line.

Don't Mel Gibson war movies make you proud to be an American? , this one and the Patriot. It's funny though....Mel is Australian . Anyways great movie and TS!

Thanks Centropy!

Posted by stevediamond on 03-17-2002 02:45 AM:

audio out of sync too

Thre audio is out of sync on my Wharfdale M5 player, only a fraction, but enough to spoil the movie.

Posted by ArchdemoN on 03-17-2002 05:37 AM:

these guys did good!

Posted by Hejkal11 on 03-13-2004 12:54 PM:

A little late for watching this movie ... TS!!!
YEYE, it is one of the best pictures I've ever seen on a TS, but the audio was oos for almost the whole part 1. And why didn't they make the CD's the same length? 74+54 = wtf...
