Awesome release... you can always trust DiAMOND to come up trumps. From sample...

10/10/7

Of course, the video could have been a higher bitrate and the audio could have been ac3 blah blah blah... but in accordance with scene rules, it doesn't get any better than this.

hang on... wtf? please tell me vcdq AND diamonds nfo is WRONG

1cd, 125 mins, mp3 audio?! i was counting on this being 2cd ac3... since when is a 125 minute film acceptable as 1cd? damn what a pity...

Posted by kawasabi on 08-11-2006 03:02 AM:

Well when a movie is very comperssible you can fit it on 1 cd, like when you have a lot of very bright or dark scenes.
As fpr the audio yes it's a shame.

9/9/?

Posted by DaDirtiest on 08-11-2006 03:27 AM:

I also was under the impression that it would be a 2cd release with AC3 considering the movie is 2 hours and 5 minutes. Anyways, was checking it a bit before coverting, it's looking amazing. I waited for this one too. I wasn't about to try a 'hybrid-ts' or anything else ridiculously unwatchable.

Thanks Diamond.

10/10/? about to watch it now.

awesome as usual wtf with the comment about more than one cd? its xvid therefore top quality

Posted by Mailman on 08-11-2006 04:16 AM:

I enjoyed the movie, but I seem to be not as hyped as most. The release is great though, I mean the video is one of the better DVDrips and the audio is also perfect. This release gets as good as it gets and many fans will be very happy for it, thanks guys.

this release is pretty good and one cd is fine enough, video and audio is really great. who cares about a 2 cd divx, just get the dvd-r if you want more quality.

Posted by gunitnucca on 08-11-2006 05:50 AM:

i still aint seen this movie!!!!! and it still aint been here to NZ cinemas....

thank you diamond again for a nice dvd rip!!!!

no need to rate this it will be bang on as always from them!

Posted by K-FurY on 08-11-2006 05:56 AM:

10's? seriously? look at the blacks and blues in the sample, video is hazy, blurry and lighter colours are a bit blocky. could have easily been fixed if they went 2cd, and it could have also had a nicer res and ac3. i'll be grabbing the dvdr whenever it drops.

7.5/10(for mp3)/x

Lightbulb dvdr available

From sample.. good video, good audio.. I'm not even going to waste my recode time on this tho because I have..

How good are curious jotos?
With Diamond releasing the XviD it meant Replica would be releasing the DVDr. I cant help to think the DVDr by curious jotos gets us a crappy coppy in comparrison?

Posted by Merle on 08-11-2006 09:16 AM:

Common, for a movie like this, I was at least expecting AC3. And 607 kbps? That's all? An American Haunting (previous release) even had 915kbps... Now the video looks bit grainy. Not a bad effort, but I hope they do better next time!

CuriousJotos isn't too shabby, they do decent work. It's a 6 pass CCE Avg VBR 4000k. Menus reencoded Extras stripped (this is all stated in the nfo). Now that you have told me Rep will be rls'ing it, i'll probably hold off on burning the dvd.

Wouldn't they have to find a reason to proper the rls tho?

Posted by chiv on 08-11-2006 09:22 AM:

yep... guess diamond is under new management eh... hope this doesn't mean they'll continue making rubbish rips... hope this was just a one-off mistake... perhaps diamond was in a hurry, and forgot to change a few settings on their newbie autoripper program, and so made a 1cd rip, then just made up some bs in their nfo to justify it ill still get it, then just rip it myself when the dvd shows up at the rental store.

we can only hope diamond doesn't get their hands on mission impossible 3 or the third xmen film before another group does... id hate to see those as 1cd mp3 rips as well!

I totally agree, let's hope DoNE get's those movies before DIAMOND does... At least their dvdrips from big action or horror movies have ac3 and decent video bitrate

better be >640 rez + ac3

otherwise low rez 2cd is also crap

Last time i grabbed a MoMo rip, it was encoded from the Downsampled DVDR, so although it might be AC3, vid quality could be worse, but things could have changed with MoMo since then.

I agree, i was dissapointed at a 1CD rip, but certain movies are very hard to make into 2CD's, yeah turning B-Frames off can help, but it dont help when scene rules dictate that the max resolution cant be say 720x304

This looks and sounds servicable enough anyway.

8/8/?

Posted by Mr_Grinch on 08-11-2006 05:32 PM:

Decent enough release, more so than this film deserves. Pile of absolute shite.

For the extra bandwidth and quality increase personally I'd just stick with diamond's release.

Yea which is why I doubt they will
They would have though cos Diamond & Replica are the same group (so to speek).

Might get the dvd9 & do it myself...

Because the label DVDRip doesnt automatically warrant a perfect rating.

This is ok video wise, especially for the size, but could of and should of been better, and the audio is only 2 channel mp3, so that why the low ratings.

Posted by betelgeus on 08-12-2006 03:42 AM:

possibly a new encoder for diamond? 1cd bit of a mistake heavy pixelation,10's and 9's are way overated.

this one needed a 2cd.

8/8/?

Posted by chiv on 08-12-2006 05:47 AM:

its a pity theres so many diamond fanboys here artificially boosting the ratings and hyping it up when its quite a rubbish rip... yeah as the other guy said, for a 1cd rip of a 2 hour film, its pretty good... that doesn't mean diamond made the right choice making it such a low quality overall release...

Posted by mattylad on 08-12-2006 08:23 AM:

Great release by Diamond, I don't know about everyone else, but it's more cost effective and organized to have your xvid's divx's fit on one cdr.

Posted by Dodgy Del on 08-12-2006 02:05 PM:

dont know where the heavy pixelation comes into but i watched it last night on a 32" widescreen and i didnt see any.maybe you were watching your copy at the cinema.

Watched this copy last night outside on a projector around the campfire on a 12' screen and the video looked perfect. Since I don't have my 5.1 system outside the missing AC3 doesn't matter to me. This was a perfect copy to stick on the xbox for outside viewing.

V:9.5
A:9.5 (stereo)
M:6 (Little long and most of us watching lost interest/got bored a little after 1/2 way. Not very scary, no real jump out of your seat moments. The ending does tie things together and was good.. just took a little longer than needed to get to the end. There were some good death scenes that I hadn't seen in other movies that made this one unique.)

Posted by nptwenty on 08-12-2006 07:49 PM:

There's a lot of fussy people out there. I watched the whole movie last night. To be honest it did'nt bother me as much as some of you. Like most people I wanted to watch it before I buy it. If quality of picture & sound is that important to ya go buy the original. Stop moaning! Be Thankfull!
