Jvc Xv-s302sl

Just a quick heads up.

In short, steer well clear of this player. I've had constant problems with its VCD/SVCD playback, (which was my main incentive to purchase it).

Problems are mainly, glitches during playback, jumping, freezing and complete locking up.

Any suggestions on a decent player that'll play everything, dvd/vcd/svcd/mp3/dvd-r/dvd+r/etc, and isnt fussy about media, in the UK. Money isnt too much of an issue, but i want a reliable player thatll last, not really a cheapie one that wont.

Been looking at the Pioneer range, if anyone has any comments on those?

Cheers

I have a pioneer dv-250 its a sweet dvd player only problem is it is a little picky about imation cd-r's. When i mean a little i mean it will play vcd's on those disc's but it wont play svcd's on them. I tried many many other cd-r brands though and they all work fine. svcd playback is superb i have had no bad playback or anything with all the svcd' i play. Also it supports mp3's and any format you want to (except divx and wma) play. The last little problem i have is that if you want to watch a svcd after watching a dvd you have to switch the modes from 4:3 to 16:9 or else the picture will be horrible. The dv-250 is pretty cheap though and is slim and perty

I've just been on the Pioneer website, but cant seem to find any information on the DV-250, do you have any useful links?

Cheers

After having done a little research on JVC players, Ive discovered virtually JVC's whole range have issues with SVCD playback. They dont seem to like SVCD with a bitrate higher than 2400kb/s, which would explain my problems despite trying several different brnads of media.

Again, back to the Pioneer range, has anyone comments/suggestions on which Pioneer model is the best for playback of *all* media, and plays dvd/vcd/svcd/mp3/dvd-r/dvd-rw/etc, and has no problems with high or low bitrates?

Cheers
