xvid frames freeze half a second

I just went through a bunch of older threads in hope to find an answer but I didn't. So maybe someone can help.

I downloaded some xvids (Helsing dvdrip, joey episode 7, Hellboy dvdrip and a bunch more) Problem is that everything works almost perfect. Unfortunately every so many seconds the picture freezes for like a half second. I downloaded several codecs and even did the G-spot download (as suggested in some threads) but it claims I have the needed codecs. Downloaded the BS player (i think it's called) but couldn't find the RC 03 codec as the link in that thread lead to somewhere else.

Also I didn't try for FF direct because I read posts where it said that it might cause problems with Nero.

I even converted the hellboy xvid to dvd with TMPGenc, hoping it would work as a dvd file. But then it looks like the movie is 'missing a frame' every once and a while (it jumps or stutters so to speak).

The videoscreener of Resident Evil Apocalypse works perfect btw. No freeze ups or anything.

Wonder if there is a simple solution that fixes the problem.

I didn't download the ff dshow because I read it causes trouble with Nero -which I frequently use. Don't think it's a problem with the files, but who knows. I mean I downloaded a bunch of xvids, but the Joey episodes always worked well for me. I downloaded some older episodes just to confirm and they have the freezing problem aswell. In fact only that Resident Evil 2 movie doesn't have troubles.

Oh well, I guess it keeps me busy. LOL

The freezing on playback sounds like either your PC specs are too low to play XviDs, or you've got too many apps running in the background.

I just realised that there hasn't been a RE2 dvd screener. Therefore no xvid "screener", as the op said.

a screener would be vcd, which would play on any pos. So it might well be that your pc's too slow, like mother says.

wouldn't imagine it'd slow down the way you said, though. what is the spec of your pc?
