Widescreen? Fullscreen? Anamorphic? What?
how do i tell if a release - specifically vcd/svcd - is widescreen? i burn to dvd, and i watch on a widescreen tv. i'd like to get the most out of the file, and i'd like to know how to convert, that is, when to flag a file as 16:9 (i use winavi and mainconept) and when not to.
thanks for the help.
They're typically all letterboxed widescreen, unless it's specifically labeled as full-screen (FS).
None of them are anamorphic. If you want to watch it on a widescreen TV, just use the Zoom feature to blow it up to fill the screen, letting it crop off the top and bottom (they're just black bars anyway).
i think doom9 has some good info on something like this
there a prgram(free and to my knowledeg has no spyware) called avi codec.
it gives tou info on if release or 4:3 or 16:9
what the frame rate is etc. it will even tell you how much of the file is video/how much is audio. etc etc...
so get you favorite search engine and go !(sorry i'm forwgtting wjere i got it but it was free)
you can also an app called g-spot.(another freebie) that give similiar file info..
OK TRY GSPOT IT DOES THE JOB 4 ME
