MPEG4 converting questions

i have a video file that is in mpeg4 and i want to put it onto a standard dvd that will work in any player. the only program that i found that whould apear to convert it is imtoo and the video is only about an hour long but it looks like overall the conversion wabts to take about 6 hours. i gotta be doing something wrong here

My pc took about 4 hours to convert one doctor who ep from xvid to mpg. It all depends on how fast your pc is.

6 hours sounds about right to me really.

wow, actually it ended up taking about 10 hours and then the audio was all messed up LOL 10 hours wasted! whats the easies way to get this done guys?

6 hours sounds about right to me really.

mine takes about 30 to 60 mins to convert an hour file from avi, i cant understand why converting from mpeg4 whoud take so long, it was going at about 1 to 3 fps (and im converting to dvd btw).
