Thumbs down Odd problem with video playback

Alright...when I screenshot them they turn out fine as can be , but on my computer it looks like the contrast is up full blast and you can barely make out what you're watching. I've deleted all my codecs..reinstalled them , tried VLC , WMP and BSplayer and it's all the same.

It's a strange one but considering you've eliminated the player software as the problem and reinstalled your codecs, I'm wondering if your display driver is screwed (presumably the bit that handles "overlays")... Uninstall it but use one of the uninstallers from guru3d.com to totally flush the fucker out of there, then reinstall.

(and come back and let the forum know if it works, nothing more annoying than not finding out )

I used to have problems with my Adobe Gamma settings. They would "brighten" images and the like, but it had no effect on my media players.. WMP, QT, PowerDVD, etc.. all way too dark. Although I could bump up the brightness in WMP to compensate. I've since re-adjusted my monitor and gamma settings, so more things display as they should, and Adobe Gamma isn't making as much of a difference as it did before.

Might be worth a try, at any rate.

Figured it out right after I posted...some guy like 4 posts below me was having the same problem. Went to the nvidia panel , changed up the gamma and a few other brightness settings and I was good to go. That really sucked lol , but it's fixed now. Thanks folks.
