interlaced

Noob question: What does it mean when it says "interlaced" next to the release?

Thanks

the vide is interlaced.

Made up of fields, not full frames. It's a real terminology, not a warez one, so it's easily googleable.

I'm still having trouble determining whether my source is interlaced. Is there a program that will tell me or are there signs to look for that will tell me?
Thanks

view it on the pc, and freeze frame on a fast motion bit. advance a few frames. Is the picture ok, or is it fuzzy around moving objects, all line-y?

if so, it's interlaced.
